The mark up on these will be studied by universities for years to come!!!!!!
The study will on how consumers control the market without realizing they control the market because mark-ups only work if people are willing to buy it at the marked up price.
@@PatBlackJR I know, because most people are idiots.......
$$$$$😂 it'll be like 90s and early 2000s yota trucks go for now in half decent condition. One of the few vehicles that actually appreciates besides pre smog diesels. One can only hope with similar reliability..
I can't even afford a 20 year old Land cruiser right now lol
4cycle turbo lol walk period
You can tell it was designed to look good with big oversized MT tires on it rather than the stock highway tires shown in this footage
Highway tires? Lol they are bike wheels. I can fit my whole hand around width of the tire.
My initial thought was “damn that’s going to look good with some 35” muddies”
It’s funny they talk about how customizable this vehicle is, but they don’t know if 33’s will run the inside of the fender or not.
They should be able to tell us whether 33’s or 35’s will work. And what the necessary wheel offset and/or lift would be required for each. If they are selling customizability, they should be able to speak to that.
more 4x4's need this consideration, body mount chops should not be required for 35" tires
I'm a broke college student, so I hope they sell a metric crap ton of these so I can get into one of them in 6 or 7 years. This thing is so cool!
It is indeed, cool. But I doubt it’s gonna depreciate a lot even after 10 years or so.
@@Fay-HenCan confirm. My 2000 GS400 and my 98 4Runner don’t feel remotely ready for retirement.
@@chaseteter my old man was considering a 4runner of the same age but i was disappointment to find a camry in the driveway
Have you seen resale on used Toyota trucks? I can sell my 6 year old Tacoma with 70k miles for just a hair under the original MSRP.
The fact that 3rd row isn't even an option makes me want one even more.
It's just not an option in the US. ROW will get them. The ROW LC150 already comes with a super slim fold-down 3rd row as an option. The cup holders are there and lift height in the US version comes from the space needed for the 3rd row. Maybe it's a rear crash issue or a weight issue or it will be offered in a few years.
@@etorseke My guess about there not being 3rd row option is having something to do with the battery being in the back.
@@Kluneberg but lexus GX have a 3rd row so battery placement not the issue
Good job asking Tyler all the right questions 🤙🏼 It’s a polarizing design, but there will be plenty of aftermarket to get it back to the impressive look of the Calty Design Teams renderings with much larger tires 🤓
THIS IS SO SICK. CANT WAIT FOR THESE. Baja bumper and some beefy tires and a slight lift. I love how these look. Great job Toyota!!!
Oh wow. Potentially my first ever LC!😲
Hell yeah dude! Love the new LC! 326hp!
I hate to be negative, but the rear looks like a Honda pilot. Turbo 4cyl gas motor with hybrid. These won’t be long term reliable like land cruisers of the past 😢
Being honest is not being negative my friend👍
I really like the look of this, especially the headlights on the gray/silver one. Thanks for making such an extensive vid!
Really like the fact that car manufacturers now are considering aftermarket customization when designing them.
Youre killing me with the video quality man! Love it!
Starting at $50k is really nice.
Seeing Toyota getting this back to its OG roots is nice too. Would be nice to see a manual trans but that would be asking too much 😅
I will gladly pay for a built in Japan vehicle than one built in the US factory.
50k msrp means 90k dealer
100% agree 🍻
50k is still to expensive in my eyes
@@effu9375you should give up your USA citizenship and move to Japan then. Matter of fact, why aren't you typing in Japanese script? Might as well stay learning your new native language as soon as possible 😂😂
those seats!!🔥🔥
the styling on these are top notch. I prefer the round headlight version personally. I heard Japan is getting a 70 version which looks waaaay retro and damn, I wish North America was getting those.
I might have to spring for one of these models in the next few years.
Thanks Larry for asking all the question we were all wondering.
Awesome! Good price, good size, plenty of room for upgrades.
This is exactly what we have been waiting for! Hertigage look based Prado for sure! Hopefully hits AUS. Front & rear looks great, side..not so sure yet. Will take a while for me to adapt, but sure its the way to go. Also a fan of the Rav4 Hybrids, this is what the Subaru 50 year should have looked like... Still got my Ski FX Manual 97' Gen 2 Subaru!
All this comfort and thought into everything and still no gas struts on the bonnet. 😆 The tailgate / rear end lines are rad, big 60 series vibes. Still digging them both. Big Toyota fan boy!
Good to see the Porta FJ White Over Blue color palette coming back.
Best thing about it - no 3rd row!
I think this might be another of favorite Land Cruiser since the 1985 Fj60 Land Cruiser by design 💪🏻🤔😊
This reminds me of my fathers LC from the mid 80's, I like it! Excited to see what people do with these! Larry, you gonna have to get one sir! :P
Love these car review. No hype, just details!
Louis' @20:19 Super Mario impresson had me ROFL LOL 🤣🤣🤣
If the hybrid engine is something that throws off a customer its nice to have the option to go to Lexus and get the turbo 6 for like $10-$15k more. Excited to see the 4Runner!
Exactly the reason why they put the 4cyl turbo. They need the GX to be the flagship still
I love that it’s a heritage throwback style. The round headlights aren’t really my thing so I’d go for the top end model or the Lexus instead.
4runner, FJ Cruiser, GX470 (non- USA Prado) it’s 2007 all over again, only w/ a 4 cylinder, & a Land Cruiser badge!
I’ll keep my 40/80/200 😎
All the media today is saying it’s the Prado for Oz the Aussie Prados have always been land cruiser Prado and we have the 300 as well, I have no idea why she says that it’s not a Prado 😂
Because it's only gonna be called "Land Cruiser" here in the US
very nice looking rig, But man am I glad we purchased hopefully the last year of the tried and true V6 4Runner 40th year!
I wish they would discuss the biggest tire that will still fit underneath storage.
Sweet. I cant wait to wait years and years to get my order of this
Yes! Bring back the FJ cruiser!!!
This is super cool. Would look cool parked next to my FJ.
They are going to be popular regardless of overpricing
I really wish they kept the split tailgate. Really set it apart
hey, at least they have the pop-up glass. can't have all three things in a tailgate
I was waiting all week for you to do this video 😎 I like the 58 more than the other one
soon this beast will have a 2JZ swap too! 😮
So waits what was the blue one? Square headlights?
Round lights ftw!
I'm into it! 👌🏽
*LMAO at the "BUILT FORD TOUGH" music on the intro*
Good move. You don't need a 95k car to go off roading in.
I was so close to buying the 2022 LC.
Now I can save some and get this.
My licence plate?
LOL ROVR
Still called a Landcruiser Prado in Aust. But I guess you guys need a new LC because the 200's were never popular. But we do get the 3rd row like the previous model which is good and Sandy colour as an option.
But is this one designed and durability tested for 25yr life like previous LC’s?
This is my concern
the 70 series is already 30 years old
A company that knows there consumers 👍
Hoping for a six speed manual!
Taco doesnt have manual option with the hybrid powertrain
No chance
If only toyota rebadged the jimny and sold that in the US
Wish it had a swing out door and full size spare
Sdm is the modern Australian like Kdss system to disconnect the antiroll bar to allow independent wheel articulation
YES!!!!
Any chance of a V6 + manual option in the future????
Suggestion: shorten in to 2 doors and call it the FJ Cruiser
No chance of getting the V6 with the manual
Looking good and some details from fj60 LC
So hot 🔥 its gonna look fuego with some bigger tires and the front lip removed
Nice of you to let Jeff Teague bomb your shot! 😄
Hey there Larry check out the new 70series and it looks this they share the same drive train. 4 cylinder motor come from the toyota hulix
Only one question, does it come in black?
hybrid. Is there a conventional understanding of how long the battery life should be for these? not range or capacity, but rather ability to hold full charge over the years. Will these be toast after 10 years?
This model is nicer than the current one. Are there any different engines to choose.
I'm glad we'll be getting a diesel option here in Asia
it's the modern bundera! hope this will be sold globally
There's already a retro Land Cruiser SUV sold in Australia/New Zealand which I forgot about as the truck version's I guess sell 4 to 1.
Both would have similar pricing.
70 series, V8 turbo diesel manual 5 speed only -uncomfortable or LC250 I4 auto -comfortable.
Are you talking about the LC300 LandCruiser?
70 series are getting a 4cyl auto
My next build!
Guessing Australia/New Zealand diesel only, there's already too many Toyota SUV's sold here especially TOUGH models as opposed to urban family runabout including the Prado, 300 series and Thai built Hilux based Fortuner.
most likely it will be called the prado or replace it.
The only mod I would do is add the disconnect sway bar link nothing else it’s ready for the trails 😊
isn't there a spare wheel on the rear door version ?
Wonder how high the dealer mark ups will go, as well as how much this will stoke the 4Runner market that would normally be right underneath the 50k mark, but thus will be way under the LC dealer mark up price.
Toyota crushed it. I think it's a solid compromise on price vs features. The cloth interior is killer. It's awesome that they brought the cost down that much.
The design of the new generation Toyotas is like going back to 90 where all their cars looked good!
Can't wait to begin my quest to find one of these at MSRP. At 50k+ it's still VERY overpriced imo but I do love that it's built in Japan where it SHOULD be.
How much should it cost?
What are you basing this on?
@@oggyoggy1299 Common logic. No vehicle with cloth seats should be anywhere near $50k.
@@daygon128when Toyota said affordable starting 55k…. Like bro average Americans don’t even make that much yearly lol. I think the 4 runner will be starting around 45k as a cheaper alternative.
@@v8_sami This. Especially the demo they're targeting with it. I'm from Alabama and where I live the median income is around 40k, and as a small business owner I'm around 50-65k per year. I get it, prices have went up on things but 100k for a truck or suv is utterly bonkers. Just a few years ago that would buy you a very nice house here. It's like people have forgotten that and just accepted it. Funny thing is, they can't afford it either and when they default on those crazy interest rated bank loans they're taking out, we're going to be right back in the recession that caused the likes of the FJ Cruiser to be discontinued all over again.
@@daygon128 yep lol with the 5 year loans don’t help either. I will just save up 20k and buy a fjcruiser. Last time I bought a new car was in 2015 and never again. I just buy cars cash now.
Awesome.
now give us a 2 door manual 4runner to rival the Bronco with the same styling as this thing and i will actually shit my pants
Facts, you talking about like a modern day fj cruiser.
I''ve always felt like I had a very comfortable amount of income until I started getting into cars 😅
Sparewheel? The company i work for bought Landcruisers two years ago in as minimalistically equiped as possible (so halogen lights, manual gearbox, no gps, no park sensors, no backup camera, no rear locker...) and i always wondered why the tailgate opens to the side, as the sparewheel is mounted underneath the car anxways...
Now these versions have upwards opening tailgates, but with a hybrid battery, i wonder if there is still a spare wheel...
(and why do they all go towards dark headliners? That makes the interior look smaller and like a dark cave. Light coloured headliners make it feel more spaceous, friendly and it doesn't eat up all the light in the car...)
The FJ Cruiser now seems ahead of it's time for "modern heritage" styling. Compared to the new these, Defender, Bronco, etc.
Hi Larry. I like the new land cruiser
With the price point they are at it will still end up being a 2nd or 3rd owner off roader for the most part if you can get your hands on one.
they will be available in 7 seater in Australia, Larry
Are they going to be at the museum for a little bit?
@18:15 you said “our 200 series tows 6500lbs”. Doesn’t the 200 series have a tow rating of 8100lbs?
I think the Japanese are haunted by the success of Gelenwagen. This design is an attempt to get closer to it, but this is yesterday... This car should be a generation of the FJ Cruiser..)
A non hybrid version would be stellar imo
After owning a prius with the hybrid for 15 years and still on the original high voltage battery and 13 years on the original 12v battery you will love the hybrid system. Shit just works.
@@paladain55 shit doesnt just works for rock climbing and going to remote locations with your off road suv which is what people buy these for
@@ganjaspeeder1144 yeah it does. It doesn't need an external charge. It just a gas burner.
@@paladain55 where's the battery located for the hybrid components do you think ?
@@ganjaspeeder1144 in the trunk right below storage
Now folks that's a Toyota watch and learn nuff said Cape Town South Africa 🌍♥️
These will sell like hotcakes in AUS 👌
Yes cloth seats.
I think the Japanese are haunted by the success of the Gelenvagen. This design is an attempt to get closer to it, but it's yesterday...
I like how she was adamant “This isn’t a Prado” but it clearly is. Call it a 250 not 300 true… but come on, everywhere else in the world it’s a Land Cruiser Prado but not in the US. And that’s perfectly fine.
Europe says otherwise, they don't use the Prado name as well.
The Australian pressroom actually confirms keeping the Prado nameplate, even down to the rear badge
Only problem is it lacks ground clearance stock from the factory. If it had the same ground clearance as the FJ cruiser, it would have been nice.
The first car for the last decade after RR evoque which I reaaally want to buy
Mid 50k. In canada it translates to 70k then add dealership markups. 80k
Kereen
It is a Prado, only in North America they are calling it Landcruiser. But in Australia/Japan, the rest of the world it is the new Prado
Does it have a solid rear axle? What about the spare tire?
There is spare tyre mount at bottom
Oof mid 50k being obtainable. No way it'll be 50k coming off the lot. (Markup)
How quickly will these blow past $100k in Australia 😂😂
Not at all it’s a shitty truck for a 4 cycle turbo.. relax
Where does the size fit in with the 4Runner and Sequoia?
Around the same size as the 4Runner, the previous Land Cruiser Prado is built on same chassis also
aw com'on.... no hood struts?
"Even though its doesnt have third row seats it does still have third row cup holders." 🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
Product of chassis architecture homologation?
This IS awesome...However, where is the new 4RUnner going to fit in all this?
4Runner is 15k cheaper, so there is a market for both, I believe.
I'm just hoping for a size reduction in the 4runner, I think that makes more sense now that the LC is so much cheaper.
@@lkajiessnot happening that would cost too much
@@csboiafter dealer mark ups 4runners are pushing 60k
@@robertosalazar9676 Don't you believe there will be a markup on these LC's as well?
