    its cool to know i have the original machine code and blueprints for this motor, family disowned me when my dad passed. he was the one that designed that motor and i helped because he was teaching me on solid edge.

    So the weight of the motor and batteries are the same as the ICE? Sorry if I missed that in a previous video. Super cool conversion thank you for sharing.

    Awesome builds .. I was thinking of making my restored 86 Civic electric just don't know where I would get all the parts to do it .. someday I hope we can buy complete kits for gas to electric swaps

    Classic cars are probably much easier to convert to electric powertrain due to already having simpler electrics and little to none electronics already. The only thing that is better about converting modern cars would be the electric power steering rack being easier than older hydraulic power steering systems to reuse, and crash safety I suppose. I am watching lots of videos on electric car conversions, they make so much sense to be honest as ICE vehicle bodyshells are perfectly suitable for conversion. Battery packaging is probably the biggest issue. Things like motor controllers, throttle pedal potentiometers, charging units, battery management, safety cut off, electric motor to original bell housing connection and running the original 12 volt system off of a transformer to keep the conversion simple all need to be thought about. What about crash protection, some conversions have the battery pack in the crumple zone? It would be great to get battery packs you could build yourself in series parallel that you could try to fit inside a plastic mold of the original fuel tank, fuelntanks tend to be oddly shaped so this may be difficult but good for keeping weight distribution low etc. A battery pack in the front and back would be good for range if kerbweight is not compromised.

    Can you guys do a Mk2 MR2 and have it keep the large rear trunk, as well as have enough cabin space for a sound system? {Sub, amp, and two 2/3 way speakers.}
    Also, power steering and HVAC are big necessities. Are those possible with any of your builds?

      @ev4u  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Are you referring to the 2,200 lb. Karmann Ghia? That car loves the corkscrew at Laguna Seca. The video speed has not been altered. In June 2017 we actually made better time than any previous runs, unfortunately we did not video Laguna Seca this year.

      the clip right after going down the hill ,, i looks speed-ed up, does the Porsche have more electric motor in it?

    • @ev4u
      @ev4u  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The clips are not of the same lap. Currently we use the same AC motors in the Porsche and the Karmann Ghia.
      However, in the past, the Karmann Ghia would run an ImPulse 9 whereas the Porsche would run a WarP 9 motor. Things are always changing in the conversion field. Thanks for watching.
