I do think that Superman being like a secondary father figure to all of the Robins is important, Batman is a bit stoic and tends to not open up to others that well so all of the Robins do need someone else in their lives to rely on when Batman isn't the best candidate. I love how Dick Grayson went to Superman when he had to give up his mantle as Robin and was unsure on what to do, I love that the name Nightwing is actually a idea that came from Superman.
I disagree with people who say Superman is boring. If written Well, the conflict in this character comes from the struggle to do good in a world that makes this a challenge and pushes people to be selfish. Also his arcs can explore how much good can you do before you're overly self sacrificing, and bring up dilemmas that make Clark evolve. You need REALLY good writers to pull this off though. love #superbat :-D

And it's definitely hard to pull this sort of dynamic off, or write characters like Superman well.
I agree with you, if written right Superman can be a very interesting hero. I like him as a person chooses to do right with his immense powers instead of using it to oppress humanity. The form of Batman I like the most is a very gruff and serious man, but is hiding a very caring person especially to the people who are his Robins, Alfred, Catwoman (who I see as his main love interest), Batgirl (and no, not in a romantic way), and yes even Superman. Batman experienced great trauma which he never wants anyone else to experience.

A lot of people just find optimistic characters inherently boring. Most of the people I know who hate Superman have never read a Superman comic and just hate the concept of him more than anything.
For me, they can be like a couple that started with being friends, then best friends and eventually fell in love with each other. In a good marriage, you should be both friends, lovers and sometimes enemies. You need support but also someone to argue with. My husband is my best friend, lover and the person that annoys me the most in a few situations.
From distrustful "enemies" to grudging allies to reluctant friends to respected close friends to best friends to work-wife/work-husband to having a crush to finally falling in love... that's kind of how this ship sails for me. And for some reasons this pairing always reminds me of Kirk/Spock in its "they are" vs "they are not" theme.

It's the kind of ship that took me a while to get into because it was a confusing start for me. They seemed more like friend-enemies to me when I met them as a child of the 90s, watching the DCAU. But when Justice League DCAU came around, it started "making sense." (Superman hugging Batman in relief of seeing him as he knew him again) Now I support it, but I keep my mind open to the fact that they can be interpreted in different ways.
Well, Injustice 2 does kill the SuperBat ship. You know, with [SPOILER WARNING FOR INJUSTICE 2] Superman's ending involving a BrainiacSuperman brainwashing Batman, although I could see that working in a dark smut fic.
Then Injustice/Masters of the Universe happened and undid that when Damian now batman save his Dad who makes up sorta with Clark. So in the Injustice 2 comic SuperBat get some hope. They even lock Wonder Woman in the phantom Zone so everyone's free and single.

On one hand I love their friendship so much and two macho men having such a beautiful close knit friendship makes my heart full. Now that I see a whole video about it, pairing these two up seems so obvious! I don't ship them together, but again that's more that I haven't really thought about it. I also have fond feelings toward Smallville and was always big on Clex. Until BvS came out I never really saw Batman and Superman together because I didn't watch the animated stuff much as a kid.
Still, love the video and the ship sounds great!

People don't like how a guy friendship always gets romanticized but that just hypocritical because girls and guys being paired together is normal to them and they never consider them being just great friends.
