I'm a 74 year old white male and wondered how the black people of our country would react to this song. I've probably watched 20 rappers and DJ's and even a woman in Nigeria review this song. I am so pleased at their reviews. I saw no prejudice against him, a white man in the hills with a red beard singing his heart out. The lady in Nigeria was in tears. If all of us, old and young, white, black, brown, and yellow can relate to this, we are all brothers and sisters. Let's take this to heart. We are all one.
Brandon, you are a handsome man and I enjoyed your review. You don't need a beard. You're fine just the way you are.

It's the most powerful song I've heard in so long i can't remember. It's authentic, raw and heartfelt. I've never seen a song resonate with so many different people at a soul level. It's American folk music, out of the mountains in Appalachia. It proves that we have everything in common that matters. We're not divided like they want us to be
Not too long ago he was struggling with alcohol and depression. Contemplating suicide. He fell to his knees and prayed to God to take them away and for him to go forward with his music. God answered his prayers. Maybe it's God's energy in his voice that's got the ability to penetrate the soul of anyone who hears it.
A local radio station that scouts talent throughout Appalachia approached him and asked if they could record him at their expense. They posted it just days ago and the rest is history. It's the only song that's been professionally recorded. There's others that are so good too, in the top 10, but they were recorded on his iPhone and are on his personal channel. He has an introductory video that he posted the day before the song was posted. It tells a little of his story.
He's so surprised at the reaction and outpouring of love. He played a farmers market Sunday and there was standing room only. 25 acres of parked cars. He said in June he played for 20 people. Lol.
Before his performance he didn't plug him, his songs or his social media. He read a verse from psalms about how the wicked will not prevail. Everyone was singing along and knew all the words despite it being released only a few days prior. Its been a week. 16 million views on TH-cam alone.
He stayed 4 hours after talking to every person who wanted to talk with him and he listened to their stories.
An inspirational young man with an inspirational story and an angelic voice that everybody feels.
He quit his job as a factory worker to pursue his music. He bought land and lives on that with his dogs off grid. This song is recorded on his land in Virginia
It's so refreshing to see young men connecting with this. Our high suicide of young men in our country is heartbreaking. He was there, contemplating it. He understands the challenges of being young man in today's society.
You get it honey. And that makes my heart so happy.

Unfortunately the people on Jan. 6th let people planted ( F.B.I) there convince them to go play around in the capital instead of doing it the correct way. People today aren't prepared to do what it takes to make this bullshit stop and that is why it will continue they will blatantly break our laws in front of us without being held accountable. Thank you for your reaction; I love your open-mindedness, passion, and enthusiasm. The fact that this song got over 16M views since its debut a week ago tells you that the message transcends age, color/race/ethnicity, religion, nationality, etc., and resonates with ordinary folk the world over. This should be mandatory listening for everyone in government, whether elected, appointed, or just employed. "The rich men north of Richmond" is a reference to politicians and “power players” in Washington DC.; Washington, DC is north of Richmond, Virginia, and probably to the financiers on Wall Street. However, politicians and the “elites” seem to be the same anywhere."I wish politicians would look out for miners and not just minors on an island (Eppstein Island) somewhere" is certainly an indictment of the elites who seem to get away with their crimes too often. I hope this anthem will wake up more people and get us ordinary folks to unite and take a stand before it's too late. God bless you.

New subscriber. Love your attitude and reaction. I've got some friends who are dissing this song bigtime, calling it right wing astroturfing. I'm disappointed and a little shocked. It felt to me this would bring people together. Maybe it's true (what some are saying), that progressives (or whatever the right category is) hate the working class. Gotta see where this goes, who embraces it, who tries to cancel it.

Brandon, if you think about it every new artist has SOUL in their first few songs. This is what tugs on your heart strings. After that they have money and they lose it. Chris (Oliver) Anthony turned down an 8 million offer to stay independent and put out his own music.
I love your openness to new things (music) I am not like that, however, this is the first country song I bought on iTunes. This man sings not only THE TRUTH, but HIS TRUTH! and that's what we hear in his music.
