She put so much emotion in this concert, especially in this sone because, 1. It was her 20th Birthday and the performance took place in her hometown of Hiroshima, Japan. and 2. I think it was the first concert without Yui, one of the vocal / dancers

It was the first without Yui and Su with Moa held it down. The audience sang Yui's part with Moa.

Ever wondered why we call her The Metal Queen? Well, if you don't know now...She's simply out of this world! Like you I am MUCH into vocals, and I put her in a row with singers like Sia, Celine Dion etc etc. Every damn time I hear this, I get at least goosebumps, most time tears in my eyes. I just love her voice!

The XX in 'LEGEND S - BAPTISM XX' stands for 20.
These two shows celebrated Su's 20th birthday, and were the first BABYMETAL concerts in her home prefecture of Hiroshima.
I love how they have a close-up on guitarist Mikio Fujioka (RIP) during this part:
"Nidoto ae-nai kedo, wasure-naide itai yo."
(We shall never meet again, but I want not to forget you forever.)
This was his last performance with BABYMETAL.
This is a rare one. Although the song had its debut in 2013, it's only been performed five times, including both of the 'Legend S' concerts.

Don't worry, it's totally OK to shed a tear or two with this performance :-)
Here she's just turned 20, the show Legend S: Baptism XX was actually held to celebrate her 20th birthday (hence the XX)

The single most important thing when singing such an emotional song is to bring it across in an authentic manner. When the audience realizes that you are not feeling it, that‘s the worst. Many people call BABYMETAL „fake“, but I have hardly ever seen as much emotion in a singer‘s face as during the verse after the guitar solo in this performance.
I do believe that Su has great acting skills as well, she can very probably have a real shitty day and still show you a huge smile, but I don’t think what we see in her face here can be faked. I have watched this dozens of times, and not a single time has she failed to make me cry. It’s awesome!
There’s hardly any private footage of the girls. It’s understandable that Amuse was very protective of them considering their age when they started. No one knows whether it’s their own decision to keep it that way now, but I‘m glad they do. I would love to see them outside their „stage personas“ as much as the next one, but no artist benefits from having their private lives exposed, and I care enough about them to hope they can continue to keep it private.
But as you might know, they were members of an idol group called „Sakura Gakuin“ before BABYMETAL (with a slight overlap). That group had 12 members (most of the time), and as you can imagine, in a group of a dozen teenage girls things will never be completely strictly professional. In addition to that, they had a „homeroom teacher“ whose explicit job was to help them develop their characters. They have been running weekly internet shows for a few years now, where 3-4 of them play different competitive games with him. Naturally, their individual characters come out very well during these. Unfortunately, our girls graduated from SG after only a few episodes.
If you don’t mind a longer video, you should look for „Nendo tests“ (year-end quizzes) on TH-cam, they are available with subtitles. You‘ll find Su in the tests from the years 2010 to 2012, Yui and Moa in 2013 and 2014 as well. They are very funny, and you‘ll learn a lot about their characters. You might be surprised, Su is quite a dork. :-)

You know, greatest actors are those that can actually BECOME the character - in this case Su believe in whatever she's singing, put that into her voice and expression, so that she never fall to convince audiences and make herself looking so natural standing on stages

*NO RAIN, NO RAINBOW* (Yamanai Ame / Endless Rain)
    Why can't I sleep?
    Why does the night end?
I don't want anything, even tomorrow,
    the future without you.
    Why was I smiling?
Why so though I was feeling lonely?
Nobody knows that I really just
wanted you to be by my side.
Even the despair becomes the light.
Though an endless rain continues to fall.
Even the despair becomes the light.
A sad rain throws a rainbow
    far far away.
    We shall never meet again,
but I want not to forget you forever.
If the dream continues, I wish I'll never wake up from it.
    Why was I smiling?
Why so though I was feeling lonely?
Nobody knows that I really just
wanted to see you. That was all.
Even the despair becomes the light.
Though an endless rain continues to fall.
Even the despair becomes the light.
A sad rain throws a rainbow
    even now.
An endless rain fills my heart
    forever.

In Japanese music the do the same thing, clips for fans and stuff. Babymetal has been called "the group you can't get to know" in Japanese press; the are legendarily private. They have a friend, Hana, who is also a performer working for the same company, Amuse Entertainment. A couple of years ago she went to see a movie with Yui and tweeted about it, and then had to post an apology for doing so.
Su-metal once said, "when I am in costume I lead the Metal Resistance. Otherwise, I stealthily move through the world in my guise as an ordinary girl." If you go back and watch clips from the Sakura Gakuin years you get a better idea of their personalities.

Couple of aditional points not seen mentioned is this song is very rarely performed. She performed it 2 or 3 times in her mid teens but felt she did not have the emotional experience at that age to do it justice so she did not perform it again until this concert - when as you can see she blew it out of the park (not sure she has performed it again since). Also what other metal concert you seen with a grand piano and violins? As to her stage presence she literally becomes another person when performing (she has said this herself). Her command of the stage for someone so young is incredible. I have seen her live 3 times and can confirm this woman owns the stage. Her voice alone puts her in a select group of singers.. and this is a woman who can run flat out dancing and still be note perfect.

This song is interesting because it was supposed to be on the first Album but Su was unhappy with her performance and asked for it be pushed back. Eventually after a few performances she felt comfortable with it.
Also you can get Legend S from amazon prime digital for 8 bucks.
If you want some stuff they were part of the Jpop group Sakura Guaiden a sort of Jpop training school before Babymetal. There is a great clip of Moa trying to deal with Su’s graduation from the school.
As to their current selfs, they do play around on stage but the producer Kobayashi does not want to mix their personal and professional lives. Which considering the hate they can get it’s reasonable

Just a bit more, Suzuka Nakamoto (Su-Metal) was born in Hiroshima, where her family still resides. The reason for the impact and I believe Su's emotion is her Grandmother and others of her Grandmother's generation survived the A-Bomb. Of course she knows her family's history. For me that is what I hear in her voice.

Just as you said, Su-Metal's power can't be explained, it is simply to be experienced. So she doesn't growl like an ape, or strap on a helmet with viking horns and sing opera like she's in a Bugs Bunny cartoon. That's not her bag. More power to those types of vocalists, but there is no other voice that can punch you straight in the gut and extract every last ounce of emotion out of you like Su's. You get it! Hi Brit! Good reaction! "Legend - S" was Su's 20th birthday show (Baptism - XX) in her hometown of Hiroshima. It's one of their best concerts, however it's also a sad concert, since it's the first without Yui, and the last with Mikio Fujioka (guitarist on the left side of the stage when viewed from the audience) as he tragically passed away after falling from a stargazing platform a few weeks after this show. Mikio was an avid stargazer and it's believed the song "Starlight" is a tribute to him.
So you want to buy the delorean of this show? I don't blame you! BabyMetal was initially formed as a sub unit of the J-pop school themed idol group Sakura Gakuin (Cherry Blossom Academy). Being school themed they have various school clubs, and BabyMetal started as the "Heavy Music Club". There's quite a lot of video with the three girls and their "classmates" from that time, but I'll give you this clip so you'll understand why I said delorean: th-cam.com/video/bGmVAd3MFzY/w-d-xo.html

That 2017 Legend S Baptism XX concert (from which the song was performed) was suppose to be the grand celebration of Suu, turning 20, performing in her hometown for the first time as Babymetal, finishing Metal Resistance and beginning Metal Galaxy. But Yui was missing for the first time ever in 8+ years of BM togertherness. They keep her spot empty (three spotlights but only two person, choreography for three but only two dancing). God knows what's going through Suu's and Moa's mind during the show, it must be tough to even stand there, let alone sing and dance.
And this song reflects that anxiety, fear, uncertainty, and sadness. And perhaps it also serves to summon that faint courage and hope from somewhere.
The coming year (2018) was indeed difficult (the rain). Mikio died, and Yui never came back. But somehow they made it to 2019 and release Metal Galaxy which was then well received (arguably the rainbow).
Yui and Mikio is still sorely missed, and some fans still hasn't recovered. Especially for Yui, with her well-being is still unknown (some says she is recovering and we may see her in the future as an Actress, away from Babymetal).
    Hence, the song. :)

This was more emotional for SU than you think it was the first time thay had played in her home town 'Hiroshima' that is one thing but it was all so the first time they had performed with out YUI she was unadle to be there because of an illness, YUI has never returned to a stage since, so this was not an easy performance for SU, MOA or the band.
All so I think this song 'NO RAIN, NO RAINBOW' is about the 'Hiroshima Bomb', after it fell people said about the fallout was like an endless rain, but there was NO RAIN so there was NO RAINBOW, and the word reflect that for me enyway see what you think.
    NO RAIN, NO RAINBOW.

The song is a reference to X Japan's Endless Rain. X Japan is one of the greatest bands of all time in Japan, having sold over 30 million records, they also play very heavy rock alongside some ballads and Endless Rain is one of their signature songs.
Kobametal is a huge fan of X and has put many references to them in things that Babymetal do, like in No Rain No Rainbow the lyrics are a direct reference to Endless Rain and when they had Yui she and Moa would sit in a crystal piano referencing drummer and pianist (yea he's both) Yoshiki since he would play the song onstage in a crystal Kawai (get it? lol) piano. The neck braces they wear in Headbanger is also a reference to him since he literally cracked a vertebrae from headbanging really hard while drumming (his style is intense lmao) and normally plays using a bracer and in recent years had to go under surgery because of his immense pain. The bit where they collapse after hitting a gong calls back to when Yoshiki did the same thing after playing a 29-minute song called Art Of Life.
Also, the other Su solo Akatsuki is a direct tribute to X's biggest hit Kurenai, their title meanings are very similar and Akatsuki even uses the same kanji Kurenai does, so it's even more noticeable in Japanese writing. And the thing they do at the end of every concert (We are... Babymetal!) is the same thing X does at the end of their concerts (We are X) and it's even the title of their documentary.
I'm sorry I went too long here lol, but BM's tribute to X Japan is deserved and I recommend you to get to know them better. It's not J-Pop or cute, bit I feel like Babymetal is sort of a hub where J-Pop fans and metal fans might meet, and metal fans can get into Sakura Gakuin and other idols/J-Pop groups while J-Pop stans can get to know more heavy music, so we can all enjoy music together ;)
As for the song title meaning, I feel like it inspires hope, like if there is no rain then there cannot be a beautiful thing such as a rainbow, and sometimes if we want a beautiful thing in our lives we must go through some hardships.

The real Su comes across in her farewell show from Sakura Gakuin.
The other girls give a farewell speech to her and Moa's speech i deny anyone not to well up with tears . Su's speech to them is so heartfelt as well . Not a dry eye in the house . This NRNR is the song make us feel emotional and think of someone we lost in the past. And it also reminds me of a phrase "The Power of Music".
You have covered 4 songs of BABYMETAL to date, "NRNR", "PaPaYa", "RoR", "Chocolate". Hmm, although these are good selections, you are still at the entrance of huge cathedral named BABYMETAL. If you want to enjoy Su-Metal's solo performance I recommend you "Akatsuki" or "Rondo of Nightmare with Mischief of Gods Intro." I appreciate your reaction from Japan 有難う💛。

Usually with jpop (as thats where they originated from) you either have a shitload amount of "private" footage of the girls fooling around to draw ppl in or (as in this case) complete shelter from the public. There are even hardly any photos of them outside of their concerts or interviews, so you are probably not gonna find much stuff thats not eagerly processed and put out there on purpose. Their private lives are very well protected, even more so since they became this famous.
As for the Legend S concert, its the greatest concert you can find imo, so much stuff thats different and yet awesome happening, Moa solos, great stage show, brilliant intro!
This is my very personal view but everytime I see it, I feel the same again. When the concert starts the first 1 1/2 songs feel very "professional" to me, like they do their thing and try to not screw up. Seems to me as if they were very nervous about Yui missing and how the fans will react to it. During "Gimme Chocolate" you can see how they hear the fans chanting Yuis lines for support and suddenly its like they are all smiles and seem to have so much fun from then on. Could obviously be just me imagining things, but thats the feeling I get everytime and from then on the whole concert is pure magic. Highly recommending Legend S and Dark Night Carnival (which many people dont seem to like because of their weird hairstyle, which in my opinion is just great).

I could write a whole long comment about what I think about her performances, etc. call her queen or goddess or something.
But I think it's best summarized by what Su-metal said: No thinking, just feel it ! :-)
Babymetal doesn't do that all that much, but their is Sakura Gakuin (the idol group where Babymetal was born as part of) as well where a lot more of their personality is on full display.

Great reaction again! Reminds me of when I was first discovering the band for the first time. I personally don't mind the pausing, I like hearing people's thoughts. Also less chance of getting blocked lol.
The band is indeed very private. Some fans (including me) would definitely like to see more of them, but I'm also happy and relieved that they're enjoying their privacy and are spared from the toxicity of social media. There's a lot of stuff from when they were younger and when BM wasn't *that* big yet, but post 2014-2015 ish, they've become much more secretive.
Here's some fun interviews/extras for you to check out if you want to see more of their personalities.

Great reaction! I can never hear this song without getting misty-eyed. You're right, the song itself is excellent (and very sad, especially when you know the lyrics) and then Su-metal comes along and inhabits it completely, with total control, and fills your heart with emotion. Amazing performance.
When I first fell down the fox hole I quickly realised that Su-metal's voice was one in a million. Soon afterwards I saw some videos that made me realise Suzuka Nakamoto is hardworking, humble, clever, funny, and charming: altogether an admirable and inspiring human being. Here's a trio of videos you might like, all from around the time Su was 15, when Babymetal was starting to become a serious thing in Japan but had not yet played outside Asia or made much international impact. I don't know if you want to react to them or just watch and enjoy.
Sakura Gakuin - My Graduation Toss - th-cam.com/video/OS190K_H69Q/w-d-xo.html
(Sakura Gakuin is the name of the school-themed idol group to which Su, Yui and Moa belonged, and in which Babymetal took its first steps.)
Suzuka Nakamoto Graduation Speech - th-cam.com/video/spd_wnXv2l8/w-d-xo.html
(The title is self-explanatory. Su's speech on graduating from Sakura Gakuin. English subtitles. You won't understand all the references but you will certainly feel the emotional impact.)
    Su-Metal Interview - th-cam.com/video/91miSpVBYO8/w-d-xo.html
(In which Su saunters into a radio studio and explains to a sympathetic interviewer that Babymetal's mission is nothing less than reforming the world.)

Your BABYMETAL reactions definitely are some of the best around at the moment!
Su was 19 when this was recorded in 2017 (just about to turn 20..... this Legend- S -Baptism XX concert was for her "coming of age" (which is 20 in Japan) If you're planning on draining your wallet with a BABYMETAL DVD lol (warning... they're EXPENSIVE!) ...don't get Legend S: wait for the Legend Metal Galaxy DVD coming out on 9th September.
Legend S is a great DVD, but it unfortunately suffers from two factors which make it a bittersweet experience for many BABYMETAL fans:
    1) Yuimetal is missing, due to illness. (As it turned out, she was never to return..as her health problems were more serious than anyone knew at the time.) Su and Moa did a fantastic job in the circumstances, but the gaping emptiness onstage where Yui should have been is almost too painful to watch. Obviously on the Su solo songs everything seems fine, but I think Su's sad face in this song is not just due to the emotional lyrics: she is probably really feeling Yui's absence from this special show as well.)
    2) This was also the last performance of one of the guitarists, Mikio. (He's the one on the left of the screen: the one NOT playing the sparkly pink guitar!)
Tragically he died only a few weeks later, due to an accident.
Legend Metal Galaxy shows BABYMETAL back at the top of their game on the recent BABYMETAL World Tour in 2019/2020..... after what was a very difficult 18 month period of trying to recover and cope with the loss of 2 much loved members of the BABYMETAL family. See how amazing they are now! :) Trailer for Legend Metal Galaxy: th-cam.com/video/BCBUzVMohlc/w-d-xo.html

They were very young and they did a live show too. There is a video of this all with trip footage floating around on You Tube and you should see it. It was around 2012- 2013, I think and even then these three were pro's. Definitely metal in the courage department!. I recommend the Hedoban interviews for a better understanding on Koba's ideas.

  • @turbozed
    @turbozed 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

This song is an homage to Endless Rain by X-Japan, which is most famous rock ballad by the most famous metal band in Japan. It's in the same key and has similar guitar solo riffs. 'Endless rain' (in Japanese) is also in the lyrics of NRNR to remove all doubt. Leda Cygnus, one of the OG Kami guitarists, did the arrangement for the song.
Su performed this a couple years earlier live, but they decided to shelf the song for a while because they she felt like she couldn't put in the depth of emotion that it requires. It made a comeback here on her 20th birthday, in her hometown, with Yui injured and the show almost cancelled. And she definitely nailed it. That second verse where her face is the most expressive makes you wonder what she was thinking of while singing the song.

  • @DrBroli
    @DrBroli 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Yea, Babymetal is fairly private, so it can be hard to find any current information about them. However, there are plenty of videos of them when they were younger that you can always look into. Su, Moa, and Yui were part of Sakura Gakuin, an idol group based on school life and club activities of girls between the ages of 10 and 15. Babymetal was actually a sub unit of Sakura Gakuin as it was considered the after school's heavy metal club. So if you want to learn more about who the girls are and what they were like when they were younger, watching Sakura Gakuin videos will definitely help you connect more with Babymetal as a whole.
If you want more Su solos, you can always look into Akatsuki (the Budokan Black Night performance), Rondo of Nightmore (With the Mischief of Gods intro from Budokan Black Night), and Amore (I think the channel HITGIRL3 has the video from the Tokyo Dome performance).
If you want to check out Moa and Yui performing together (collectively known as Black Babymetal), they have Onedari Daisakusen, Yon no Uta, GJ!, and Sis. Anger (probably Babymetal's heaviest song). For some, you'll probably only be able to find compilation videos, but they are entertaining nonetheless.
Also, since you are a big K-Pop fan, I was wondering if you had ever heard of Sohyang. Personally, I think she probably has the best vocals in South Korea, and probably some of the best in the world right now. Her vocal talents, skill, humbleness, and emotional performances are absolutely amazing, and has left an impactful impression on me. If you are interested, some of my favorite performances from her are Arirang Alone, Bridge over Troubled Water, Everyone (if you want English subs, then you'll need to find it on Vimeo), Lean on Me, Hug Me, and Dream. I think you would be really impressed with her if you are really looking for world-class vocals. Who knows, she might even end up on your wall of bias.

I really really don't know why, but the guitar work in this song always reminds me of early 90s Slash and Guns 'n Roses. Don't think it has anything in common, but it's just in my head when I hear this song.
That was Su's 20th birthday concert, hence the "Baptism XX" in the concert title. It was also the first concert without Yui, who a few days/weeks prior to the concert got told by her doctors that she shouldn't perform. So they basically went into the concert with all the choreos and performances tailored for three and needed to adjust. All of Yui's parts were more or less sung/chanted by the crowd that night and Moa needed to perform all of their Black Babymetal (only Moa & Yui, without Su) songs alone. The DVD/BluRay is definitely worth a buy, for me one of the best shows they put on to this day, even if it was without Yui. Unfortunately you got into Babymetal a few days/weeks too late, because exactly that concert was shown on their official TH-cam channel at the end of June/beginning of July.
If you want some off stage stuff from Babymetal I always recommend the videos of this channel: th-cam.com/channels/9af9uxsbp1Td9EUIXA2RkA.htmlvideos . There are, I think, 2 of each Babymetal member, one for Yui & Moa together and a bit of miscellaneous stuff of them. All well edited, funny and cute. These are, of course, mostly from their time in Sakura Gakuin, the group that "gave birth" to BM. Which means Su's are mostly from 2010 - 2012, Moa & Yui's from 2010 - 2015, but there's some Babymetal stuff, from interviews mostly, in it, too. You won't find anything of them after 2016, except for normal interviews about their albums and/or tours. You could also use these clips for reactions (maybe 2 vids per reaction or something like that) if you enhance the YT player window for the subtitles, but that's up to you of course. I think most Babymetal fans love this stuff.

Think this is a heartbreaker? Best not to watch it while reading the lyrics too. Heart shattering. Also, watching Mikio play that guitar solo and knowing he died barely 3 weeks later doesn't help. RIP Mikio. Then, of course, this was their first concert without Yui (or first recorded one, at least) and Su and Moa were obviously very sad about her leaving and it was in Su's home town of Hiroshima on her 20th birthday. Lots of reasons to become emotional already and then Su begins to sing! BTW, I think a picture of Su would look good on that wall - a wall sized one especially! Or Moa. That song is incredible. No flashy guitar solos, pyrotechnics or whatever but hits you right in the feels 😅
Now you got me curious as in where did you order your Su-metal poster ? 🤔
About getting the DVD... Well, that one would only be available via Japanese websites (don't know if it's available on Cdjapan) but you can get other shows for cheap on Amazon UK, the Budokan one and Live in London one. And if you have a Blu-ray player, they're also cheap !
I think you listened to Tales of the Destinies on your live, nice. It's their most technical song and has only be played once live but might not be to the taste of everyone.
    For recommendations, I'd say
Akatsuki live in Budokan black night (Su solo again), ijime dame zettai live at Sonisphere (their 1st performance outside of Asia, pivotal for their career) or if you want something different, Onedari Daisakusen or Song 4, which feature the other 2 (Moa and Yui) without Su 😃
Well TBH we could recommend every song actually 😂

Yeah there is lots of Su available on TH-cam I think the youngest I have seen she was like 3 with her older sister right through her days with ASH, Karen Girls, Sakura Gakuin And Babymetal. Not a lot of behind the scenes stuff but enough to kind of see what she is like. Also unfair to choose her as your bias before you get to know Yui And Moa, those two can steal your heart also lol

I have the copy of that show and I tell you as a metalhead and music lovers in general it's worth my every penny. It's kinda hard to watch for long-time fans tho because it's Su's 20th birthday celebration concert (20 in Japan marks that a person fully become an adult in society) but also the first time Yui was not there because of unknown health issue. She was absent the entire next year before finally decided to left the band because of the same reason.
Su was a tearing up a bit towards the end of this song (I think you missed it, right after the guitar solos) makes it more depressing altho she quickly regain her composure and did it majestically.

Excuse me for the sentence in the translator
Su-Metal in the video is 20 years old
Wouldn't it be great if you heard AKATUKI that she sang when she was 15?
The pure voice of a 15 year old girl will pierce your heart and grab you
My recommendation is a song called Rondo of Nightmare
It is a song with a characteristic that changes rapidly and you may not understand it even if you listen to it once

I’m more of a fan of power belters... i.e. Morissette Amon. But the way Su delivers this ballad is so amazing. It’s amazing with that hauntingly beautiful. Then she goes into other BabyMetal songs with aggressiveness to engulfs one with power.

I genuinely love all their songs. Some more than others. But for Me personally, songs lile this and the unfinished version of Akatsuki hits Me hard, not just because of the sad mood of the song, but probably even more because Su just seems like one of the last people on Earth, I would ever want to see genuinely sad. You can tell she always gives every song 100%, and that's great for up tempo happier songs, but the Queen doesn't do half measures, and so we're stuck with a couple of great songs, that just about always makes Me well up 😭🤘🏻🦊🤘🏻

I'm going to give a bit of background for the performance.
This show was for Suzuka's 20th birthday show: Legend S - Baptism XX - (S for Suzuka), recorded the third of december of 2017. It was at her hometown of Hiroshima, at the Hiroshima Green Arena, just near the ground zero of the bombing. When Suzuka was at Sakura Gakuin she even wrote a blogpost speaking of how every 6th of August everyone at Hiroshima honored the deceased and when she traveled to work on the show to Tokyo and saw no one was doing it she was shocked. We really do not know the true meaning of the lyrics of No Rain No Rainbow as they are abstract enough, but some people think it is about the bombings (the song was made for Su as a solo). It is a song that has been performed very few times, it's that special song, and it has always had an intro. The intros are different but the theme is always about that rain that fell and destroyed everything but then light and hope rebirths. For this show the intro was:
    The bright beam of light
that wiped all light from the world
also ceased people's light of hope.
    The skies turned dark
and endless rain fell upon the people
who had lost all their light and hope.
    But endless rain doesn't exist
and the people hope of black skies to clear out
so the heavens can restore the light that had been lost
They hope to discover that there's happiness at the end of sorrow
and they pray for light of hope to return to them.
So yes, we don't know for sure if it for the bombings, but if it was sure it was pretty emotional for Suzuka to sing this in Hiroshima. There has been always that discussion about if at the start of the second encore she is about to tear up or she is just performing S++. Next song after this was Moa-metal singing Song 4 alone and she delayed two or three minutes, there was the rumour that she was consoling Su because she started to cry on the backstage.
Last bit of info. This is also a pretty emotional performance for everyone because it was the last show for Mikio Fujioka, one of the two guys who is playing the guitar solo. He had been with the girls since they were 14y.o. touring the world but only three weeks after this show he passed away. He was an amateur stargazer but he fell from an observatory while he was looking at the stars with his wife. There is a moment in this song where Su is saying: "we shall never meet again, but I don't want to forget you forever" and the camera is focusing on him, pretty emotional. The last album, Metal Galaxy (2019) has three songs that are probably a tribute to him, what fans call the Trilogy of Lights (Starlight [pain], Shine [sadness and goodbye] and Arkadia [going ahead]).
    i.postimg.cc/02j5HjTs/kogami.jpg
Just a month after his death, Ohmura band made a tribute live show to get funds for Mikio's family. Ohmura (the other guitar player in No Rain No Rainbow) met Mikio when he was young and learning to play the guitar, Mikio was his guitar teacher at that time. Since then they had played together for more than a decade. At this performance you can feel how he feels the loss of his friend, at the start of the song he has to perform Mikio's solo and he can't stand the tears. Aoyama, who is also Babymetal drummer, is in tears too. th-cam.com/video/6otoqJ_oKI4/w-d-xo.html
And yes Suzuka at Legend S looks astonishing. She was not cute anymore, she was beautiful. She still is, she is only 22 now. And Moa has become a really pretty young lady too.
About knowing more, yes the management has always been really really protective on the girls private lifes, so you will find only content on the show Sakura Gakuin when the girls were middle schoolers or some interviews like this: th-cam.com/video/dbODbQMm5Wc/w-d-xo.html
And to close it just to thank you for another great video Brit. And do not worry if you got emotional, Su made to tear up event to Mr.Rock and Roll with this song.

The lyrics to this song are beautiful! And I wasn't aware of the Hiroshima link(I didn't realise Su is from there!)
So sad to hear about Mikio, it must have been so hard for the girls and the band to go through a tragedy like that.

@@britkpopreacts Thank you for reading the wall of text, I thought I had gone too far away this time 🤭
And yeah I would go for Legend S if I had to buy a BD. Other good options are Tokyo Dome [2016] (full stadium 55k audience two days in a row, their biggest venue to this day, singing at Tokyo Dome was Suzuka's dream), Live at Wembley Arena [2016] (awesome performance in London), The Sun also Rises [2019] (to me the best show of the Metal Galaxy world tour), and Legend M [2019] (Moa's 20th birthday show). But I still think Legend S stands over them.

@@britkpopreacts It's from a concert they did in Japan in January, just before they set off on their Europe tour, which included my home town of Cardiff, where I saw them in Feb, just before the planet shut down. The NotaCult thing is a little in joke that we usually keep until a reactor reacts to the epic 'Death', as performed on Su Metal's 16th birthday and which elicits numerous WTF?'s even from hardened Metal fans. Genuinely! I have enjoyed live Metal, Rock and EDm since the 70's and this is one of the most full Metal show finales I've ever seen. That's one that is probably best kept for a later date, though! If you love the cute and adorable half of Babymetal (and who doesn't?) then there's cuteness overload galore available in their performances as well as there being numerous YT clips of them being uber cute. Here's a couple of links and they're not performances of songs so no need to react - just enjoy and sigh a lot! Su being extra cute for an all female audience th-cam.com/video/o5RooJvXgHc/w-d-xo.html (and if you like it and want to watch the full song - recommended - then it's on my Vimeo channel although you can't react to it - vimeo.com/400355349 ). It is the song Awadema Fever, a song about mint-flavoured bubble gum that is also a time machine, written as a 'fuck you' to some critic that said they were bubble gum pop and it's KawaiiAF (CuteAF). Here's one with an adorableness factor of 10+ - th-cam.com/video/C2uFDdoybc4/w-d-xo.html - and there's lots more available...just type 'Babymetal cute' into YT search bar. If my Metal Queen/Goddess Su commanded me to drink the Kool-Aid I would (even if I wasn't sure whether it was Ken Kesey's acid-laced electric kool-aid or the reverend Jones arsenic flavour one - Su asks, she gets!
