I really like your reactions, which is why I keep coming back. The energy these girls exert during a show is monumental, and certainly beyond my capabilities. I admire their ability to keep going even when they feel exhausted. As they've stated in interviews they draw energy from the crowd and each other to keep it up even when they've felt like they couldn't.

Although I've seen this video a hundred times, watching it with you is like seeing it for the first time. You get it ! It's the whole package with Babymetal - the songs, the performance, the Kami band, Su's voice, and the incredible Yui and Moa !

There is a section at half the song (that area with Su's death glare), where all the crowd has to bow to the queen. Sometimes is less time, but on Legend Metal Galaxy's Headbanger of past january it was nearly five minutes of bowing to the queen severe gaze. A show to be seen xD
Also this song is one of their best and most performed. Headbanger has two special versions, when they were played at Legend Y and Legend M, the shows for Yui or Moa's birthdays, the song is sung by each girl. Sadly, we only have a bad fancam of 2014's Legend Y show, Yui's birthday in a concert in Paris. But we have a great pro-shot from Legend M on summer 2019 and Moa is astonishing in that performance. Even if you did this one, you could do that song some day, is on The List. Reactors who go deep with Babymetal end doing both versions of the song.

First: I'm so glad you appreciated Yui and Moa's work. They are (were) so important to keep the crowd hyped and this video is a proof of it. Besides, I'm such a huge fan of Moimoi / Black BABYMETAL :)
About the song itself, this is a BABYMETAL classic. "Megitsune" is probably their flagship but they added this again to their set-list (Nagoya 2019 - Legend M) which is great (it wasn't played live since Hiroshima 2017 - Legend S). And yes, we need to watch them live! It actually hurts because my 1st BABYMETAL concert was cancelled last June and the situation is, at least, uncertain.

In Japan, head banking is called "He do ba n".
And the Japanese title of this song is also "Hedoban gyaaaaa".
Gyaaaa is a scream, and that's exactly what SU is singing about.
It's a song about a 15 year old girl who buys a cheap train ticket to go to metal gigs in various places and dance around. It's a song about the momentary adolescence of a 15-year-old with no regrets.

The song is officially spelled "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" on the album (yes, I copy-pasted it :D). I think you read the Japanese spelling as "Hedobangya!!" and Moa&Yui chant "Hedoban", which is the Japanese pronounciation of "headbang". It's about a 15 year old girl going to her first concert.
Little history on it: Yui took over the microphone once during the song in 2014, at her 15th birthday show in France, I think. Moa took the mic a few weeks later in Germany at her 15th birthday show. They changed the lyrics from "Ichigo no yoru o" (This special night of my fifteen) to "Hatachi no yoru o" (This special night of my twenty) at Su's 20th birthday concert Legend S in 2017. They did the change to the lyrics again for Moa's 20th birthday show, Legend M, in 2019, when she also took over the mic for the second time. If you ever decide you want to do more Babymetal stuff not on TH-cam and create a vimeo/bitchute account or whatever, you could even react to the "Moa 20 version" from Legend M, but you'd get it claimed/blocked here on TH-cam faster than you'd need to edit your reaction because it's on one of the newer DVDs/Blurays. @@chrisharris1522 I don't think calling someone "beautiful" or "gorgeous" is creepy, because you're talking about a grown woman in your comment. Moa is beautiful and I don't really care that she started super young. I don't know how old you are, but it's like you're saying you can't call someone in their mid-20s/early 30s/whatever beautiful anymore when you're 50 or older. An example, for me it's like you can't call Natalie Portman beautiful just because you saw Léon the Professional. Edit: Or Emma Watson, just because of the Harry Potter movies.
Now, if someone were to say "she's beautiful in this Legend 1997 concert" I'd definitely revoke my non-creepy stamp faster than you could spell "gorgeous" :D

@@chrisharris1522 Maybe I don't have much of an issue with it because I only really listen to them since the mid-2018 or something like that. I know about them since 2016, but didn't care much about music anymore at that time. The first video I've knowingly seen of Babymetal was Legend S from Akatsuki onwards, so they were already grown up. And you know what they say about first impressions.
When X-Japan used to play, they would go until their drummer Yoshiki was spent, and he would signal the end of the concert by banging a gong before collapsing. This is an homage to him.

@@britkpopreacts This entire song is one big homage to X Japan. Yoshiki (drummer/pianist/writer of X Japan) wears a neckbrace (something you will see referenced in other places as well) during drumming due to an injury he got due to too much headbanging.
Babymetal has more homages to X Japan as well, Akatsuki is a reference to Kurenai and No Rain no Rainbow a reference to Endless Rain. I'd love to see you react to X Japan as well one day, but I'd suggest to keep that for far in the future, as I see your journey down the foxhole has not yet reached its end.

This is one of my favorite songs, it feels like a tropical summer storm. You should see their performing this at their 2020 Metal Galaxy concert back on january, Su was 200% metal Queen mode on that one.

Great stuff - also one of my favourite songs and performances (among so many other favourites). Although Headbanger is about a girl going to her first metal concert on her 15th birthday, it is also about taking that next step in life. 15 is the age where compulsory education ends in Japan, so it is the end of that time where they are considered children and this song is a sort of coming of age. "That time I enjoyed as a child is gone now and will never return, I am moving on to bigger things now, but I will never forget this special night of my 15 and it will be etched in my heart for ever."
You should pick up the DVD/Blu-ray of the Legend Metal Galaxy 2-day concert that comes out in a few weeks .Filmed earlier this year, and Headbanger goes hard... actually, the whole concert does.
@@darc5494 there's a broadcast version of the concerts (think they omitted 4 or so songs from the whole two days). Headbanger was good. RoR was epic.
Wowow is a japanese tv that broadcasts a lot of Babymetal on exclusive before it is launched in DVD. It is lower quality than the end product (less image quality, less audio quality), lacks some songs (BxMxC was performed but wasn't on the broadcast) and the final product has some scenes changed for better ones in the DVD edition. But even like this Wowow stream are usually good.

Title is ヘドバンギャー!! (Literally He Do Ba N Gyaa!! If you take all katakana transcripted separately) so yeah, the long one is closer to original one, but headbanger is usually used.

Su had just turned 16 the previous day.
The song title has been listed with a couple of different variations.
The girl fans of visual-kei groups are called "bangya" (= band gals), and this is why the title is written as "ヘドバンギャー", i.e. "hedobangyaa" = "headbang" + "band gal".
The newer romanized version is 'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!!'. Note there are 5 of the letter "e", 5 of the letter "r", and 5 exclamation points, for a total of 15.
Of course the song is about a girl attending her first heavy concert on her 15th birthday.
The statue in the background is never identified, although the narration during this concert makes references to a "Holy Mother".
Awesome reaction! Headbanger is a fan favorite so it doesn't surprise me that you loved it aswell! There is a special version of this song from Moa's 20th birthday show, Legend M, from last year. It's not on TH-cam and it would 100% get blocked but i'd love to see your reaction to it: [search on google for the Vimeo video "Hatachi No Yoru O"] (maybe upload it to another site?!). I had a similar feeling 2 years ago when I found them.. since then managed to see them live 3 times in UK.. best gigs ever. The energy, power and boundless fun they project is amazing in person. And the BM audience is about the best, nicest bunch you will ever meet. It is an hour in your face fun ...
Fun reaction. You might not want to hear this, but Babymetal played this song on their European tour (four shows in the UK) in February this year. If only you'd fallen down the fox hole a wee bit sooner! A Babymetal concert is an experience like no other. I hope you (and all the rest of us) get to see them again before too long.

These girls are perfect (and the Kami band). Simple as that. I own 6 Blu Ray concerts so far and will get more. I watch them when I need to smile after a rough day or when I want just to see and hear something that's just amazing, fun, unique, adorable, and gets me pumped up.

This is the MV where it shows where is neck brace (corset) come from in their lore. A tribute to Yoshiki of X-Japan where he is wears a corset after too much headbanging.

Directed by Hidenobu Tanabe (田辺秀伸), who would be named Best Director of that year (2012) at the Space Shower Music Video Awards. It narrated a story of a 15-year-old girl who found a legendary neck corset in a mysterious box that fell upon her from above. According to Yui Metal, the members of the band wore their heaviest makeup for the "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" music video, while Moa Metal felt the fake eyelashes used were pulling down on her eyelids.

When commenting about the guitar player.. That was Mikio Fujioka that died at the beginning of 2018 from results of a fall. He was one of their main guitarist. He last show with Babymetal was in Dec 2017 at Hiroshima. It was also the first show without Yui. In the video for No Rain No Rainbow which you reviewed before, they focus on him more and give him more film time in the video.

Don't know if any one has pointed this out, but the mic stand is a tribute to Freddie Mercury.
Well done, Sir ! I am of the strong belief that without the magic of precisely the three of them together, Babymetal as we know it would never have happened. As a member of The ONE, your shrine will look perfect with a set of three Funko Pops on the corner of your display case. Our Queen's scepter is said to be an homage to Freddie Mercury's half-mic stand. So many layers of awesomeness exist in every song, but our Precious are so distracting, it's hard to notice until after many watchings. Crowd is part of the awesomeness. "Ki-e-ro" shout is defening, and Queen Su just holds her mic up and doesn't make a sound, herself. Don't miss Pikachu in the audience.
Watching BABYMETAL is like getting punched in the face by three kawaii Asian girls, and you know what I'm ok with that. Its times like this when you realize three kawaii Asian girls are more METAL than you.
The 'ki-e-ro' crowd chant moment at 9:26 mark of your video still gives me goosebumps every time I watch this video, Made all the more effective as the instruments all come back in.When they played this song at the forum in los angeles in oct we went crazy.....And we hit the' ki-e-ro' chant right on que and our queen was smiling with approval.
Please react to Moa's Legend M 20th Birthday version. It was amazing. Something about seeing Moa sing lead and Su do the choreo... and Moa's smirk during the bowing pause can rival Su's death glare in my opinion.

@@spaceboy1433 Babymetal inspired me to start learning Japanese and go to Japan, which I did a couple years ago and had an incredible time. I am a huge fan of Su and Moa of course, but my eyes always seem to focus on Yui during videos.

Yui and Moa sang it on each 15th birthday concert (Yui in Paris and Moa in Cologne (thanks @Léo for pointing that) ).
Su changed the lyrics from "this special night of my fifteen" to "this special night of my 20th" in her 20th birthday concert (Legend S - Baptism XX at Hiroshima Green Arena. First concert without Yui), Later Moa did the same on her 20th birthday (First time in Legend M at Nagoya (again, thanks @Léo) and later in world tour 2019 at the Forum, UK).
Sadly Yui never sang the 20th version because she left the group before that date.

It would be nice to see more Sakura Gakuin related stuff, these three girls love for the group is huge. Moa even say that she always hopes that the attention that babymetal receives internationaly, in some way, reaches Sakura Gakuin and increase their fanbase. People often focus only in the first 4 years of group, from 2010 to 2014 (When Moa, Yui, Hana e Yunano graduates) but the Nendos (年度 - Basically the term for academic school year) after them are extremely great too.
A song to see their potential is オトメゴコロ (Otomegokoro). The 2016 nendo version is amazing, because they have 5 of the most powerful voices Sakura Gakuin ever had (Asou Maaya, Yamaide Aiko, Kurosawa Mirena, Hidaka Marin and Okazaki Momoko [Momoko is one of the Avengers])

With Megitsune this my favorite fo the early MV's. Though I as with Megitsune I love the official Headbanger MV slightly better. The song is about a 15 yo girl going to her first metal concert. At the time they made the official Headbanger MV Su was 14 and Yui and Moa were 12. So it is not autobiographical after all Babymetal doesn't attend concerts, they are the concert.
Their physical condition is on par to Olympic athletes. They go at this pace for 80 minutes or so.
As to the staging at their concerts, I believe their concert in 2019 at the LA Forum is the only one they brought their full stage setup to a venue outside of Japan.

Actually about the energy, the girls actually have learned to pace themselves at times and 'attack' with extra energy bursts at the right time during a show/song, otherwise they would burn up to much energy and wouldn't last to the end. :-)

@@MasqueChosen Tee hee, I was there, we had so much fun in those last 10 minutes and I nearly went deaf from the noise, it was as loud as a BABYMETAL concert, just less tuneful - that match is known as Crystanbul. To be fair Liverpool have been great and really good to watch for the last couple of years, it just amused fans of every other club when they kept just missing out.
"Headobangyaaaa!" Fekkin yes! Just yes. You said it, even if the music isn't your thing, you have to respect what they do! Always 200% Always hyped! And that they deliberately construct their music to include that crowd participation...its these things that take an alreay great song and make it something phenomenal! And yes!!! Even though I'm a sucker for Su, you absolutely cannot deny that Babymetal just would not be Babymetal with out Yui and Moa (and now the Avengers, but I truly believe that if they hadn't started off as the Holy Trinity, Babymetal wouldn't be where they are). Yui and Moa just had that perfect synchronization and compatibility! And while the Avengers are doing fantastic!, the shared charisma just isn't there, which is one of the reasons I believe they dint do Black Babymetal songs anymore. Another is likely the difference between Yui's and anyone else's voices. I do think the Avengers should get mics though, rhey are afterall performers on their own as well, and i believe they could bring a new dynamic (again) to Babymetal so long as its done right (and they've yet to really mess up on arrangement or anything so.....)!

What a great day. I was going to lead this with UNDERTAKER ENTRANCE... but you picked up on it. A hurricane that was heading this way (Houston) has been veering eastward so while it will be wet and windy at least it should be manageable. Legend 1997 was a very important concert. It was held to mark Su's 16th birthday. But it was also staged in such a way to symbolise them casting off their Idol background and fully becoming a metal band. This show opened with a lip-synced EDM version of this song, and the Kami band were brought out for the last few songs and they played it again with the regular arrangement. At the very end of the show Su was crucified and resurrected as a metal goddess. I promise Babymetal is not a cult...
P.S. as a bonus, this was the show where they performed Gimme Chocolate for the first time and the footage was used for the music video.

hello brit k-pop reactions ..... These baymetal have an energy 1000000000 more than the blackpink I loved it more that all their energy is at a high level and they never fall, they always have the fence well present despite being girls they do much better than the mtaleros ... this is what It is metalllllll ... well the blackpink are more tender and sweet compared to the babymetal these jaonesas if they surprised me now I have in mind and in memory of these groups of girls the babymetal and the blackpink go for my collection they are my favorites of the hour onwards......

But come on to stop it this many times is ridiculous. Imho of course and as far as I am concerned its still a free country to have them and to let them be heared.
@Henk V personally I’ve always preferred watching reactions where the reactor pauses and talks about what they’re watching, so I think I just naturally incorporate that into my style, even before things like avoiding copyright comes into play. I can appreciate this style isn’t for everyone, and of course everyone is entitled to an opinion, but I’ve still never understood why people feel the need to comment negatively on someone’s video, especially with that kind of attitude. Each to their own I guess, I’ve just never understood the mindset behind it 🤷♂️

Henk V not at all, I’m fully aware that I’ll get critical comments and that’s absolutely fine, I’ve just never personally understood the mindset behind it and have never felt the urge to post anything negative on someone else’s video. If I don’t enjoy something I just tend to move on. I’m perfectly willing to accept negative comments, but likewise those commenters have to accept that they might be challenged if they post something with a bit of attitude like that.
