    --------
For years now, the Game’s scandals and feuds have outshined his talent, which is saying a lot because The Game has a lot of talent. Unfortunately, the more The Game keeps instigating pointless feuds, racking up increasingly serious legal troubles, and acting borderline sociopathic- the harder it is for fans to focus on, or even remember, how talented he is as an artist.
The Game was one of the greatest and arguably most underrated MC’s of his generation. His debut album The Documentary is a certified classic and one of the quintessential rap albums of the 2000’s. But The Game’s behavior and career trajectory have basically turned him into a walking-and-talking case study of what happens when you’re your own worst enemy. His name dropping has left him no one to defend him and his alleged behavior has robbed him of his royalties. The Game seems to have backed himself into a corner.
    So what happened?

The game is that one dude that can’t accept that being a hard ass thug is no longer cool, he is the embodiment of early 2000’s rap and missed the memo that it’s not as socially accepted now. The whole “imma fuck you up” and send death threats and disses and be misogynistic in your personal life to prop up your music is not what people are crazy about anymore

When the documentary dropped, I took it to a house party, we were playing cards for money, I put on the CD and EVERY song was fire, we let the disc run for like 3 times in a row and not one person said put on some new music this is repetitive ETC. everyone was just gangster listening to this music, you could feel the energy in the room, people were focused on the music and it was hitting.
It was brand new and we were all bobbing our heads for hours, I'll never forget how this WHOLE album was fire and you can put on an album and let it run 3 times over during a drinking party and not one person wants to put on some new music. or have a part or the album or song on the album that would knock the energy down.

I think a huge part of it was how rap changed between the 2000’s & 2010’s, the west coast gangster rap era was on its way out & by the time game tried to stay relevant with the red album it was too late. The first 3 albums were like perfect with execution but he fumbled it with the red album, releasing it 3 years later in 2011. Rap was totally different because you were competing against blog artists like OF, Danny brown, Lil B, Action Bronson. It wasn’t as serious at that point plus you had Midwest (GBE, MUBU) / south artists (1017 Bricksquad, DTE) on the rise & a new generation of LA artists (Black hippy, Slauson Boyz). But you gotta give credit for staying relevant for all these years & not being labeled as a forgotten artist or one hit wonder.

He and I are separated by 4/5 years of age and I think what always turned me off to the Game was his need for attention and his immaturity. Eventually, I stopped listening to gangsta rap and my life just started going in a different direction because I was getting older and wanted different things in life. I would listen to the Game and it seemed like not only was I still in the college years, but he was as well, and it just doesn’t appeal to me.

Documentary was the first Hip Hop album I was old enough to properly listen to and digest the lyrics. Blew my mind.
His biggest failure was being unable to diversify out of being a rapper. 50, Eminem, Jay Z, Dre, Ludacris, Kanye all used their fame from music to move into other ventures. His failure to adapt is his downfall. Very hard when you’re a gimmick rapper that doesn’t reinvent yourself to remain relevant across generations. Game failed to reinvent himself and diversify.

Also both of those albums are better than GRODT (i know but it's my opinion), The Massacre & he's a better lyricist with a greatly superior discography to 50 Cent.......WEST SIDE! The Documentary 2, 2.5, 1992 & LAX are also very good along with his retirement album......R.E.D. + Jesus Piece (two pretty decent records imo)

I’m a huge game fan since 04 and I’ll admit he been on some trippy shit through his career but one thing for sure is he’s one of best to ever spit on a mic especially in the 00s people forget how good he was

Ngl, he's one of my favorites because of his off the court antics. Let the rap game's all time biggest weirdo get as weird as he wants to be - it's pure entertainment😂

Y'all can go on & on but this guy is a legend and he still makes Hits. His career is not dead instead people will never accept the fact that he's responsible for destroying G-Unit & their puppet masters hip hop careers. Plus he proved over & over that he can make after leaving Aftermath which people doubted

  • @jaimerodriguez1550

His whole look and his music was chasing a sound and a feeling that was aged and dead for a long time.by the time he modernized my mind was like this ain't game.

It’s so sad to see and at the end of all this, he’s lost out on so much money. Like brody had his label taken from him and his royalty’s are taken away from him too because he was immature and refused to pay out money that probably would’ve cost him less in the long term. He should’ve been bigger and could’ve been if he let the beefs go and grow it with age

How Jay diss him once? Dear Summer, The Prelude, & What You Talkin' Bout are all shots at Game and he even called Game a groupie and mocked him in a interview. Game dissing Jay and 50 was petty as they helped him. We know your career will really fall and end completely when you diss Jay. Some of them survived and was still popular and successful like Nas who ripped Jay with Ether and his Stillmatic comeback but Game wasn't one of those artists, he did it to himself.
