I remember didn't knowing about the kojiro quest and I was doing a shrine at the beach of the second isle. And I discovered a Ronin sitting there fishing. I thought: sweet. Shot him in the head three times, discovered that he wasn't dead and that you can talk to him. I did and this awesome duel came out and until coming to umugi bay I thought that duels are a thing now in the open world.
Duels in the open world would be really cool imagine taking over a light tower and then next time you come back to see a ronin sitting there waiting for you or something
My first Straw Hat duel encounter was when I was just randomly exploring, and I saw this guy practicing with his katana (it was Hirotsune, at the Spider Lilies thingy). Then as I approached him on my horse he greeted me saying "Lord Sakai" or something, and then the duel began. It was amazing.
