I remember a game between the Hawks and the Pioneers from that era where they only scored about 3-4 points in the entire first half. It was an exciting game.
The 1st Roller Derby game I saw was between the Hawks vs. NY Chiefs at Madison Square Garden on Channel 9. I caught the tail end of the game, and I saw a female Chief Skater Pummel a Hawk Skater, and her hair was flying all over the place. The crowd at MSG was electric. Finally, the #30 John Parker Jersey is really nice.
I would much rather have the nickname "Dynamite" than "Porky"... but as you said, he was a 'big boy'. I never saw him skate in person, just via T.V. Is John still with us? I don't think I've ever seen him in any of those roller skating reunions. Thank you, for helping to keep some of these players' names alive, Mark.👏🏻👏🏻
@ 1973 Madison Square Garden had a roller Derby yearbook for both leagues and I remember seeing John Parker and Ronnie Raines for the first time in that yearbook

MY JERSEYS THAT JOHN PARKER AND BETTY BROWN GAVE ME HAD THE HAWKS ON THE FRONT AND THE NUMBER ON THE BACK.
JOHNS JERSEY SIZE WAS 56 .
Was not John Parker fan.
Didn't the Hawks also wear a black and white jersey that had a picture of a hawk on the front of it, Mark?
Yes they did…that was in 1978 and they were called the Flying Hawks
Is that chief John Parker’s jersey just before he came to the Chiefs?
Yes that’s John Parker’s #30 1972-1973 Northern Hawks Jersey before he went to the ISC NY Chiefs in 1974
