Mark Roman thank you! I adore your parents; I skated with LA T-Birds for two seasons
Thank you for the kind words about my parents! What years did you skate for the T-Birds?
Qué bonito vídeo, me trajo recuerdos de cómo eran las bodas y las modas en los años 60, década que yo viví y disfruté.
Where were your parents married? Beautiful video!
I think they got married in San Leandro
Thank you Mark!
So glad you posted this Mark! When you were young were you aware of how popular your parents were? You were blessed that they were your parents. Thanks for letting all of us continue our fond memories of them through your posts of them😇😇
I wasn’t aware of their skating career until I was close to being a teenager. I did go to a few games at Kezar Pavillion and San Jose when i was 2-5 years old
Mom and dad better work the jerk..I love it! Ms. Carol is a true doll..beautiful wedding gown.. 😅😅 having a party🎉🎉
I know right? My mom and dad were having a blast and they loved to dance!
@RollerDerbyMarkRoman ah ha..now we see you inherited the moves from mom and dad..
@kentburrell3419 many years ago i was going through my mom and dad’s closet looking for a shirt and i found a box filled with 8MM and 16MM movie films. So I decided to take them to a place that cleaned and color corrected them and digitized them onto DVD and MP4 and i had DVD copies made and i surprised my family by giving it them 😃. All of the film footage that i had transfered was a little over an hour and half long..it has lots of great footage of my family and their friends, roller derby skaters and me and my sisters as kids ❤️
Hi mark that was awesome video
There is no sound
All of the 8MM and 16MM footage that i had transfered onto MP4 and DVD had no sound only video
@ ok
For you Mark. th-cam.com/video/rTq7w8P6_2I/w-d-xo.html
👍👍👍
What an absolute treasure this is. At least you have the video. Your parents were SOOOO adorable. There is no doubt that everyone had a super, duper time. I wish that I could recognize more of the guests. 🙏🏻🏡❤️🩹👏🏻👏🏻
This is amazing footage. Thank you Mark for sharing the video. I've never seen a Roller Derby wedding before.
It had my mom and dad’s family as well as many skaters there at my parents wedding
Did Charlie O attend the wedding? And did your father teach others to skate in his off time?
Yes Charlie O’Connell was there…my dad did go to the Roller Derby Training Center at times to help train the up and coming skaters
@@RollerDerbyMarkRoman I didn't see him in the film.
@strothermartin5368 yes Charlie O’Connell was there..there were alot of skaters there but this was the only Wedding Footage that i have and even though it’s not a lot of footage I’m blessed to have it
@@RollerDerbyMarkRoman 👍
Why is there a fence around the track I've never seen that before. And your dad's skating style is quite unique it's easy to pick him out on a team
Not sure why there is a fence there at that outdoor game 🤷🏻♂️
@@RollerDerbyMarkRoman Looks like the track was set up very close to the backstop and home plate...keep fans from getting on the field.
Great!! Thanks, Mark! That was the era I watched. Did I see Cathy Read in there? Do you know the roster of the All Stars?
Yes that was Cathie Read wearing the #51
Here is the full roster: San Francisco Bay Bombers 40. Charlie O•Connell Ann Bauer 39. Gil Orozco Harlean Khien 38. Barry Hopper Joan Weston 37. Don Andrade Sandra Calloway 36. Dewitt Quarles 35. @@RollerDerbyMarkRoman Thanks so much, Mark. I didn't recognize some of them! The numbers help.🤗👏🏻
Thank You for sharing.
👍👍👍
It would of been nice to all those games from the 60's to 1972.
I agree!
Wow! What a great memory for you to have! Thanks for posting this!😊
Glad you liked it! I’ll be posting more 😃👍🏻
Why do I think when I see something from my early years is those were great times. I was 4 in 1964 and living in San Francisco. And I’m proud to say I was born there!!!
I watched the Bay Bombers. I love Tony, Charlie and all the rest. It’s why I started Roller Skating.
That’s great that you were a big fan of the Bay Bombers and of my dad Tony Roman…I hope you enjoy my Roller Derby TH-cam Page and watching these videos bring up great memories for you 😃
@ Where can I get a Bay Bomber Roller Jersey?
Those are very hard to find…I have a 3 of my dad’s #37 Bomber Jerseys as well as one of my mom’s #37 Bomber ones and i even have Charlie O’Connell’s #40 Bomber Jersey that he wore on the Bay Bombers in 1969 and a few others…do you have any Jerseys or Roller Derby Memorabilia?
@ No. I was looking for a jersey. I’ll keep looking. Thank you
👊🏻 🛼 🩸
Mark for a jersey that's over 50 years old it's in spectacular condition
Danny Reilly
Wow, never heard that kind of trash about Nick Scopas.
I was thinking the same thing!😮
Hello mark was nick scopas married to jan vallow at some time.
Yes he was
That’s a great looking jersey!😊
Thanks! I hope you enjoy my Roller Derby Chanel that has a lot of great Roller Derby clips of my dad Tony Roman and my mom Carol “Peanuts” Meyer as well as showcasing my Roller Derby memorabilia and video clips….Do you have any interviews that my mom Carol “Peanuts” Meyer did? Would love to hear it
@ So sorry, Mark, I don’t. I loved watching both of your parents skate! 😍
That’s ok! So glad that you were a big fan of my parents and enjoy my Roller Derby TH-cam Chanel!
On the TH-cam post by the awesome Joe Nardone the Libertadores wore the NYB jerseys. Lucy Ponce wore #43. Canadians vs Libertadores from the Montreal forum. th-cam.com/video/N72-g6c0-lo/w-d-xo.html
It does look brand new! WOW... 🏡🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I started watching roller derby in 1969 in Pittsburgh then in 70 we found roller games and watched it until 74 when we were shocked to see a few derby stars in their. In our house hold it was always a us vs them mentality since the guy that ran roller games was more of a carnival barker. But as a kid I still liked it but I knew the difference.
Would that have been used for the Latin Libertadores, as well?
No…the Bucks Jersey’s were altered and had the “Bucks” name taken off and the lighting bolts for the Latin Libs embroidered on the front. The NY Bomber Jerseys were never altered at least to my knowledge
What a FANtastic interview. Your Mom is/was a STAR in every way. I love the way she honestly answered the questions, and was so down to Earth. Her compliments were sincere. She didn't take things personally. No wonder you're so proud of your Mom. Her amazing talent, sincerity, personality... Carol "Peanutz" Meyer... a Roller Derby legend. I loved Walt Harris, too. Are there any interviews of your phenomenal Dad, Mark?
My friend did have one that my dad did in 1987 but that video tape/footage is gone…I only have the two interviews that my dad did during the Roller Derby games which is fine and you have seen those right? I do have another interview that my mom did in 2012 and she goes in depth about her childhood, how she started skating, her skating career, skating with other skaters, how she met my dad and their marriage and when my father passed away, the role of females in sports and so much more and that interview is 2 hours long! I’ll be putting up that interview soon so be on the look out for it and have some popcorn ready! 😃
@RollerDerbyMarkRoman You bet I will.🍿🥤🎊... Thank you for sharing this with us, Mark. That's so sad that the long interview with your Dad is gone. His personality seems like it must have been so fun-loving. 🙃😉😃
Interesante entrevista. Gracias. Feliz Navidad desde Puerto Rico.
I loved Walt Harris. He was--far and away--the BEST Roller Derby announcer in the business. Thanks for this great interview, Mark. I'll never forget it!
This was a great interview! Thanks Mark for posting this; I found out several things about your dad's illness about which I always wondered. Your mom sounds like the kind person I always thought she would me. She broke my 11 year old heart when Tony took her off the market😢😢
So glad that you enjoyed my mom’s interview…my mom did a 2 hour interview in 2012 and she goes a lot more in depth of her childhood, her skating career, how she met my dad,his illness and other skaters…I’ll be posting that interview up soon 😃👍🏻
Really looking forward to that😊
The Queen of The Roller I totally agree!! What a great interview..moms injuries are ouch! Married that Tony guy😅😅 Look at that you got a shout out Mr. Mark! I love the fact that mom always spoke so highly of her fellow skaters.. Awesome!
I rarely cheered for Jan because she was never on my home team. But I always admired and respected her skating ability. She was awesome on the banked track. She and Sherry made a strong one-two punch.
This game was at Nassau Coliseum not MSG
Oh yes that’s right! Thanks for the correction…my dad did an interview after the end of the first half of that game. Here is the interview th-cam.com/video/8EOLsKWqzao/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Yk77pK-WLC1FPuGv
@@RollerDerbyMarkRoman I was also at the Long Island Arena in Commack for that LAST GAME EVER.
Wow that must have been so EPIC! That was when the Midwest Pioneers faced the NY Chiefs on December 9th 1973 right? Charlie O’Connell was on the Midwest Pioneers and he wore the #54…how was that game? Wild like to hear your insight on it and what you saw
Three of the ABSOLUTELY best skaters EVER.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Roller Derby and hockey will always be my favorite sports! Thankyou!👍👍👍
We want more, Lol. Thanks for your channel, Merry Christmas, and Have a Happy New Year.
I’ll be posting more and so glad that you enjoy my Roller Derby Chanel and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too!
1973...this a total blast from the past!..I to wish you and the family HAPPY Holidays..Great New Year! Thank you for the video's..reminds me of simpler times..
Gracias por el vídeo. Feliz Navidad.
Always a rough series between the Chiefs and the Bombers!!
Great Mark! My memories of the Derby will never end. I enjoyed it so much! Best wishes to you and your family for a wonderful holiday season!
Love the music. Great array of tickets 🎟
I agree with the other commenter. The prices are amazing! You have so many souvenirs and mementos, Mark. WOW👏🏻💝👏🏻
OMG..Mr. Roman, this is really telling my age..look at these ticket prices..damn how simple life was or at least it seemed like it..small price for such lasting memories..
nothing will ever match this era.
