To those saying not to touch the babies after they are born or else the mother won’t feed them: Would you have left the hairless still bloody baby on the cold tile floor to die?
Rabbits only abandon or eat their babies if strangers or people they don’t trust touch their babies, even then sometimes they don’t. Every doe is different, some are more picky, some are more laid back. It all depends on the doe. Personally I’ve had my Flemish giant doe (who had a nest all ready made) jump on my bed with me and give birth next to me because she wanted comfort. Although I never touch does or bother them when they are giving birth if they ask for comfort of course they’ll get it. Rabbits are prey animals and while they are giving birth they are easiest to catch. Therefore they don’t normally like being touched but that being said, it doesn’t mean the doe won’t come back for her babies. After giving birth it is normal for the mother to eat the placenta and clean the baby and then leave. Does do not stay with the babies. They come back to feed them once or twice a day, again depending on the doe and the amount of milk she produces.

This makes me very happy, especially because we thought both of ours were male (everyone did, even the sellers) but one turned out to be a female and was pregnant to 3 babies and she gave birth in the middle of a winter night, they didn't survive and are buried in the garden. So watching this made me very happy

That's a pet rabbit, and seems like one that was raised indoors, weird that she only had 1 baby. My dwarf lop, who looked exactly like her, had a litter of 8. She was a first time mom, and she gave birth in the afternoon all by herself, all grew up into very healthy rabbits, we got most of them adopted, think it was 3 that we gave to a garden centre that sold pet rabbits, coincidentially the same place where we bought her lol.

Thank you so much for your comment! I’m so tired to repeat that home rabbits won’t abandon the baby and they need help with the first litter, unless you want some babies die frozen on the floor or by accidental moms step ..
@@bunnylove327 No problem! I couldn’t stand to see so many people saying you’re in the wrong, when you really aren’t. A lot of people don’t understand domesticated rabbits and I suppose that’s only to blame on the tons of myths out there about them. Bunnies do take a lot of work and are much more complex then people think. Sometimes it’s easy to breed and sometimes it’s heart breaking and difficult, especially with first time mothers. But the bunnies make it all worth it! I hope you and your bunnies have a great day! 💛

Rabbits do not abandon their kits if they are handled. That's a myth! My girl had one, and she didn't feed it. It was cold and wrinkly after more than 24h. He spent the next few days in my shirt and I bottle-fed him. I gave him back to his mom after a few days to see if she would start feeding him, which she did.

it's a wonder she fed them at all after you touched them right after birth. animals know what to do if people would back off.

@@katarinask139 false i'm a daughter of a farmer, we have thousands of rabbits. you have to touch the kits to check up on them to see if they are fed well by the mother and to see if they are having complications. the mother doesn't mind. if she wants her kit left alone she would go on top of them or thump her back legs. mothers killing their babies when they feel threaten or scared is a myth.....

@@abhishekkaushik3904 ya I know that it's very painful but dude it's not necessary that u will get kick there its ur own choice generally toh dost log hi majak majak mai marte hai toh it's not a natural rather its created by some people and ya kick is more painful but it last for 10 to 15 min while labour pain 17 to 20 plus the hormonal changes which causes irritation so ya u can imagine which is more difficult

Saw dust is bad and can cause respiratory problems. I'm sure there is a better safe option.

@KuroiMushi Yea I've never bred rabbits and never plan too, but would a soft bedding like carefresh work in a big nesting box? I'm thinking the owner of the rabbit is a kid whose parents got them a male and female and don't know better. People need to get their rabbits fixed unless they are experienced and knowledgeable breeders.
