  • The Home Mender, Dustin Luby, shows us how to repair that unsightly rot hole in your floor to prepare it for a new. Sub floor issues can be dangerous! You can fall right through the floor. Cut out the subfloor by squaring out the damaged floor, securing the framing or adding floor joists as needed. Install the new 3/4 sub floor, then top it with your finished floor. Replace that rotted floor. Easy! You can do it! Home Mender.

I'm a flooring contractor been doing it for 16 years. Did one hell of a good job on that floor. They can be a pain in the butt!

This video saved my ass big time. What turned from a simple bathroom remodel to finding out the sub floor under the toilet and surrounding the tub was TOTALLY rotted I was petrified to tackle it scared of doing it wrong and someone would fall through the floor while doing their business on the can, but this video seriously calmed me down and I realized it’s not rocket science. Since then there has been a few more instances where I had to repair some subfloor and I ALWAYS come back to this for a refresher. This guy is pure knowledge around the house and teaches it in a fun, super easy-to follow way.

Don't know why I feel like an expert now, when I haven't even used a power tool or done any DIY in my life.

Sir you just changed my life. I just closed on my first home and while painting I found that the juliet doors in the master bedroom have been leaking and the floors were rotting. I'M BROKE NOW and finding I can do it on my own made me ugly cry. Thank you soooooo much!

I don't know why but I love videos like this. I don't have a house or plan on having one but I do want to try renovating a fixer for a fun project.

Thanks for the video. Was replacing the flooring in the laundry area of my house. Previous owner did not go far enough out when they had a leak, so I found subfloor rot a little further down than original repair. Glad to know I had done it right. Some things in home repair are just as simple as they seem. It's like you've said, you just have to have the confidence.
