    SON!!!!!! Couple of things. When moving the big conc rings, rather than put the one around the back as you did, put two over the top but crossed. Easier to do and doesn't allow movement.
    Second, J29 truckstop is always worth pulling into and speaking to the staff walking around as they'll get you in if there's room and there was some behind the wash.
    Other than that, brilliant video as always and very informative for new drivers. Well done.

    That’s one thing I don’t miss about general haulage, is the stupid O’clock in the morning starts. Who wants a to start work at 2/3am in the morning? it’s the middle of the night. I’m on the tippers now and I’ve definitely got my life back, working normal then go home and see my family every night. Yes the money isn’t as good, but at least I’m not losing valuable time with my kids I’ll never get back. It’s exactly why I meet so many Trampers who are divorced. Anyway another good video Deady, keep em coming mate, reminds me of the days when I was doing curtain sides and flaltbeds with R.T Keedwell.

    There's a story behind the Harrier at Wittering. The plane is called Matilda. It is believed that the plane is haunted. Out of the whole fleet of planes that were based there that was the only one to hurt the person who was fixing her. So rather get rid they kept her. My step dad is in the Raf

    personally if I was doing a 15 hour day, I would also plan in taking the first 45 minute break around the time the roads are the worst, so like school time, so yes you are doing it right starting at 4am. because then means you are off the road for 8:30'ish which gives the worst traffic time to clear off the roads. for the workers starting at 9, and the school run to finish about 9:10-9:15. so can't blame you starting your shift at 4am if you can get a decent drive in before the mad rush.

    • @michaelthomas3646
      @michaelthomas3646 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      but saying that I have also seen the traffic heading into Cardiff at 7am also, so best to be heading out of Cardiff about that sort of time.

    You will be reversing in like that in another couple of years mate it's only confidence. I wouldn't go back to nights out even if I could not sure I will be driving trucks again anyway but wont be tramping if I do . It's a major headache keeping track oh hours then not been able to get parked up lays full and truck stops ball ache. Respect to you doing it now deady

    I always got told if you start anytime before 4am you are on a night shift hours so that means finishing at 5/6 doing 11/12hours, anything after 4am is classed as day shift🤔

    • @neilthomas4407
      @neilthomas4407 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you start before 4am Loui,your classed as a night worker and can only do a 10 hour shift duty shift,unless the workforce of the company you work for has opted out of the wtd night working rules,they can't make you do it. Mind you I quite.often put my card in at 04.02am!

    why oh why oh why would anyone want to work a 15 hr day ? and more so why oh why oh why should we expect a driver of what could become a lethal weapon to work 15 hrs ? we don't allow it from train drivers so why do we allow it from hgv drivers

    • @xj358
      @xj358 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Mate, from someone who's been trucking since I was 21 which was 30 years ago, I fully agree with you. The legal driving hours of 9hrs a day in order to allegedly keep drivers safe on the road does not appear to go hand in hand with the allowable total working day of 15 hours. If the government really wanted to keep drivers safe then they would drop the ridiculous '' Other Work" and make it an all inclusive working day of possibly no more than 12 hours regardless of whether you are actually driving the truck or on the back of the truck unloading. Work is work and in 2020, the '' Other Work '' rule is the most outdated rule of the UK driving hours legislation. Reducing the maximum working day by law would also likely see an increase in hourly pay, as restricting drivers total working hours would undoubtedly make them more valuable. You're right, if it's good enough for train drivers then why doesn't the same safety concerns apply to truck drivers. And as a direct result of your comments, I have just been educated for the very first time on what daily hours UK train drivers are allowed to work and it really shouldn't have been of any surprise to me......... Length of daily working time
      Maximum in a 24 hour period, ten, when worked during the period between 0600 and 2300;
      or eight, when worked during night time. In exceptional circumstances, this may be increased
      to twelve..... Average Train Driver Salaries. Great Western Railway £51,999/yr. Southeastern Railway £50,472/yr. London Underground £49,762/yr. Arriva Group £51,781/yr. London Midland£48,750/yr. Virgin Trains £61,151/yr.

    • @Deady2012
      @Deady2012  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because people keep ordering shit thats why lol.
      Trains are ‘Meh’ if they stop, big deal.
      If trucks stop.... the world stops.
      No one forces us to do 15s, we want to do them. Well i do. I’m at work to work, not to sleep.

Saw you reversing past our truck and Was telling him that drivers got a youtube channel, cracking videos worth the watch then looked around and was like f*@k I hope you haven't just ripped front end off that parked car!! My office (when I'm not out driving) is 2nd pedestrian door on left next to the garage if you're round here again. Just ask anyone wandering around for transport Joe, we've usually got a brew on the go.

And no one has the nuts to say listen we can provide what you need but this is the time we can do no earlier no later! It’s the same anywhere. You can have a collective agreement with all employees to not impose the 10 hour night time limit. However, even without any agreement in place, this rule on night time working is flouted by most trucking companies just like the 48 hour average working week.

  • @gary63693
    @gary63693 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Someone wanna explain this. If you starting at 3.53am gmt, this is classed as night work, so you can only work a maximum time of 10 hours. Is this right? I know you need a workforce agreement in place to extend it. So is this right?

    • @Deady2012
      @Deady2012  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, you need a collective workforce agreement.
      This has been signed. Day work/Night work... doesn’t matter 😊

    Hi Mate, Might have missed it but did you say you took a 15 min break and that reset your WTD for another 6 hours? Think you mean another 3 hours before you need another 15 min. A full 45 min will reset the WTD, either 3 x 15 min (WTD) or full 45 min driving time break will do it as well.

    • @YouTubeuser-eq4up
      @YouTubeuser-eq4up 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      A 15 mins break does give you another 6 hours wtd or until your first 4 and 1/2 hours drive runs out then a 30 min break resets it all again

    Kindly advise did you have challenges getting your first job and do you work with agency or permanent?
