Deady i totally agree with you on being happy. i have 26yrs in engineering and 16 yrs running my own engineering business. in 2 weeks i start my cat C driving and i cant bloody wait .
Passed my class 2 and two weeks later doing started my tipping job. Watching your vids has helped alot for getting me prepared, hope all is well with the new flat.
What parts of the theory test did you have to do if you dont mind me asking. Did you have to do all 4 parts?

Regarding truck driver careers and potential. One person, two words. Eddie Stobart. Look at how he started and that turned out well. Life is what you make it and people achieve success in a variety of ways.
I even see Eddie Stobart down here in Bude, Cornwall. If I went out now I’d almost guarantee seeing one or two of their trucks!! Where are they based I wonder?! On the motorway they’re all over the shop, everywhere you see them! One huge company and I don’t even know what they haul around the UK!! you talking about inteligence and being HGV possitive, I used to an IT technician, flying all over the world, im happier than ive ever been doing this job! Be it Class 2 Big van. I would personally say have something to fall back on, another qualification and then do what makes you happy. I know stockbrokers who now drive for royal mail and love it.

After 20 odd years on multi drop I sat my class 2 last year and starting a new job on Tuesday driving tippers and cement mixers. Never to old to learn new tricks I hope lol.

Same for me, at least ten years I have wanted todo it but talked my self out of it, but furlough and the likes of deady made me realise that go and do a job that you want to be in, yeah there are crap bits and will have bad weeks etc but if you can smile when you think about going to your job it's a win, it's not good feeling sick, stressed almost holding back tears on the drive in roll on getting my theory done so can book my class 2 in
Don't take this the wrong I'm not trying to be cheeky but I wouldn't waste your money hgv driving is the worst out there you've got to work mega hours and nights out to make a half decent wage

Truck driving is a great job, it’s true what you said mate if you enjoy it you’ll moan less. Sometime it can be stressful and shitty but you take the rough with the smooth and just get on with it. Great videos Deady 👌👍
Another cracking Vlog Deady, good man with the linkin park, my fav albums from them is Meteor and Hybrid Theory. I have seen them in concert at the O2 arena in London, man it was the dogs dangly's (R.I.P Chester you are missed every day) and must say that Scania does sound awesome.

You gotta love those urban freeways that are clearly a slightly large road which they then decided, many years later, to make into two lanes, therefore making it basically impossible for a HGV to stay in the left lane safely. There are a few in this video, hate them around Birmingham.

I was a 3D Design engineer working 5 minutes from home on good money and I sacked it off as I was so so miserable on a daily basis, my weekends was spend drinking myself numb to forget about the next week she was.
I’m currently doing my class 2 license as I believe this is what will make me happy, and if it doesn’t, on to the next thing.
Life’s too short to be unhappy, if you’re working most of your life you may aswell do something that makes you happy.

Little tip, at those lights by Cereal Partners / Fire station turn left, upto the roundabout & take 2nd turning. Misses all the lights out & you pop out just by the BP petrol station traffic lights. Also the road is wide enough to park if you need to double check the load.

Was on the A1 heading back and about 2 miles before the boarder to England (in the parking layby on the cliff top) there was a little teeny vauxhal corsa type van with silver tinted rear windows and one 3" camera can sticker on the back. No chevrons or owt, infact it had no markings atall and had dents and black paint in areas etc. In the front....three 12" monitors displaying info. Thank fahook I was doing 40.
@@gixxernavigator I had the same just come out of Glasgow, had a car overtake me on solid white lines next thing the knackered old bright green vito infront of me sets off like a rocket and lit up light a christmas tree, it must have been at least 10 years old and looked like a builders van

@@StabStabStabStabby Got me a job with a local, family firm. Class 2 to start. I am actually in no hurry to use that Class 1 - kind of forming an opinion that for the tiny difference in ££ it's not worth the aggro. Nice outfit though, they get that and said that I am more than welcome to jump in an artic during any done time and have a play reversing round the yard. Can't say fairer than that. I hear you, I have turned 40 this year, I have my own mechanic shop from home, not making money, as a business it is pointless having it then. And it is not my passion what i am doing now. I only did it because at the time i started it was the only thing i could do to make money, which i did not. But after this covid pandemic i have now decided i am closing down and trying something different to see.
I had a scania 480 and here in south africa we have super link trailers, did cross border work got scammed out of my money and lost my truck and trailers. I LOVED DRIVING TRUCK. Have not got the money to buy again. As i said mechanic shop only let me live from month to month. We have a BEE scam system in south africa brought in by government and only caters for 100% corruption and the elite government. Not our ordinary citizens and especially white unfortunately, unless you are corrupt and do kick backs,

Well thanks for all your videos deady I was ready to take the plunge and finally do My class 2 then law and behold I was driving home last night and was pulled by the police for having no insurance same situation with what you explained with your wife on another video🤦🏻♂️ so that’s a nice 6 points added to my 3 I already have and an in10 so now I don’t think I will be touched for any driving job yet alone hgv I am so gutted right now!! Agree with your points about the job, when I came into the industry I had all the old timers telling me how much I would hate it blah blah, I think half the problem is that the new blokes and lasses get jumped on by the old guard and they get a negative perspective before they have even got going. Plus you got a lovely Scania ya jammy Git in two years all I have driven is Mercs, Volvo's and Daf's which to be honest the Volvo was probably best out of the ones I have driven great size cab for tramping! Anyway drive safe mate might see you out on the roads somewhere...

I joined the Army at 16. (REME) I loved the job! One of the perks was getting my HGV licence at 18. I left the service at 22 and went right into a Tramping. I had such a hard time trying to prove myself because of my age. Have things changed recently?

@@Deady2012 there's always a few loads as far as I'm aware and always 2 or 3 of your trailers in our yard on a Friday mate (loaded) and I see some of your trucks in our yard dropping or picking up a trailer occasionally when I'm in there usually only go back once or twice in a week tho
I have a degree in economics. I’m qualified as a TESOL (teaching English to speakers of other languages) and spent a year teaching English in Thailand after university. Then came back to the UK to work in our family business (biggest mistake of my life), and did that for 12 years and then decided that I would train to be a professional airline pilot. I’ve been chasing that for the last 3 years now but since Brexit and COVID, that industry doesn’t have the shine it once did either. The amount of rules and regulations involved just takes the fun out of it. I wonder, do I really want to do it now? Do I really want to spend another £50/60k on training then another £25/30k on a type rating (that’s the qualification that allows you to fly a certain type of aircraft - once you secure a job - if you can find a job now). I’m 38 now. I’ve always loved driving and road trips, the longer the journey the more I love it. Drove all the way to Turkey and back a couple of times. The inside of a truck is actually a lot more comfortable than an aircraft. It’s noisy and cold up there and very tiring. I totally agree that in life we must do what we enjoy and are happy doing. The only thing is that regret is a terrible thing. I have many regrets in my life and just don’t want to make a decision that I may regret in the future. Having said that though, I can’t stop watching these videos and thinking to myself that I think I would actually really really enjoy this job. The solitude I like, the driving I like, to me tramping is “glamping”. If I did this, I would aim to buy my own truck and be an owner operator after a few years of experience. Then you really are your own boss and can work as much or as little as you want. Driving across Europe and getting paid for it? Where do I sign?
I would really appreciate any thoughts you have on my idea. Am I being an idiot or should I carry on what I’m doing?

Not quite there yet, but from what I have found from others it's usually better to just phone companies speak to the transport manager , go to the depot and keep a good eye on Facebook company pages and jobs group. Then say yes to anything really, if its driving a wagon your experience clock has started ticking, it might be crap runs in a crappy truck on crap pay but get foot in the door nothing stopping you from moving on,
When I go for my first job I know it's going to be an hr rate cut, could really unsociable hours but my arse is behind a steering wheel and the truck and load is mine while I'm there, and just go were the paperwork tells me after that nothing else to worry about
great vlog Deedy, looks like really nice weather as well for the drive. yeah it is true do a job that you really want to do, rather than one that barely pays the bills. I bet you learned a whole new language for some some of the plonker's in cars, and vans!! lol. I don't know why some people go into managemnt etc. because I love the open road, tunes on the radio, but health and disabilities disagrees with me, as such unable to do the thing I always wanted to do, hense why watch youtube videos, and also simulation with things like ets2 etc.
also congrats on winning on the lottery as well. most I ever won was £737. I tried getting Camalot to round it up to the easier amount of 747 to remember, I even offered to send them a cheque for £15. but they refused!! yeah I won with the first five balls drawn, and then had to wait for 6th ball, and it was 1 number out as well. think it was I done 11, and 12 was drawn. still ahead of what I bet in total on the lottery. the weeks I played were the weeks I won on since then, and only a couple of losses.
