Frank Zane was the pinnacle of inspiration for us mere mortals in the late 70s; not to dismiss the accomplishments of all of the other Mr. O’s - they ALL contributed to bodybuilding evolution, but Zane represented what the average or smaller guy could hope to become.

Steve Reeves and Frank Zane had the most aesthetic pleasing physiques: )

Nothing beats this era. Those physiques, such as Zane's, had so much character. Don't get me wrong, us O.G.'s know why! But they were real physique artists, and masters of Bodybuilding.

Very interesting and I'm glad to hear you mention Zabo. My father managed Gold's back in the 70's and said he was in there every morning reading the paper while he was working on the Roman chair.

Zane was advocating Stretching & Contracting in same abdominal exercises. This could only be done in the following 4:
Original Roman Chair (not GHD bench).
    Leg Ups lying on table
    V ups done on box
Gironda Double Crunch on table ( you call it STIFF LEGGED LEG RAISES)
They were not clearly in detail explained in your Videos on Gironda & Zane Abs workout.
But thank you a lot for your elaborated work.

Great job as usual. And you are correct in the Tao version of Zane's philosophy and concentrating on the specific reasons for each exercise selection and execution. The vast majority of Bodybuilders from ANY age you could just list their workout sets and reps and that would be all that is required but Zane was always far more and to go deeper into his reasoning is without doubt the right approach in regard to the true 'thinking mans Bodybuilder'! Excellent job. Be careful though, you are setting your bar VERY high indeed now in terms of the quality you are delivering!

It took me years then I found old PDF in Frank Zane's Facebook explaining the Partial Sit up. It was the original one and only Crunch invented by Vince Gironda (besides the Gironda Double Crunch) with heels resting on a high table. This Partial Sit up turned falsly to be the fake Crunch of today.

Frank said (in interview) he was into yoga, vacuuming is "uddiyana bandha" which has many benefits including tone and defintion of the abdominal muscles. You don't have to have abs to practice the bandha. Enjoy the video's, I wonder if you've looked into Bishnu Charan Ghosh, perhaps the worlds leading physical culturist of yoga and weight training. Youngest brother of Paramahansa Yogananda.

  • @johnlutz3385
