Thank you so very much for your timely, easy to understand video. My wife and I installed our Toshiba RAC-WK0612 Friday night without much of a hitch other than the frame accordion extension does not reach the full width of my 36in window frame. The solution is out there, I just have to keep looking!
Glad the video was able to help you out!! Sorry to hear you have an issue with the extensions - we had a similar issue a few years ago with an LG unit, and when we reached out direct to LG they were able to mail us out some extensions that fit the window opening. Good luck!! 👍🏻
add some foam insulation on the back of the a/c covers. will insulate noice and temp better. Also if you don't already have something put a shade over the aircond. high enough for it to breathe. Then your a/c wont work as hard and may feel cooler. Great job installing looks nice.
Thanks for your video, helped me out with the side panels 👍 Had the same issue with the top so cut some dimensional 1x2 to length, covered the ends with the foam and wedged them on either side of the window frame. Works great so far.
I have a Toshiba 15,000 BTU it works really well. I live in a garage built like home, and it gets super hot in it. The fan blower in the attic stopped working, and my room got up to 79 degrees F. I believe Toshiba makes good hard disk drives.

I don't think those side panels are needed. Worst case, you could cut some solid insulation boards and tape them in place if you've got a really small gap on either side. Good luck with your install!
Thank you for posting this video! Do you have any advice on whether or not there are any drain holes or if any should be made for the condensation? I'm just a little concerned about the water building up in the bottom pan. All steps complete including the 5/16 offset for drainage. Thank you for your time :)
Thanks for the comment and for checking out the video!! I did not make any additional holes in our unit, and I haven't had any backup of condensation on our end so far - so far so good. I did go check it outside today when I saw your comment, and I can hear a bit of water in there, but nothing has leaked inside or anything yet. I was just about to ask him the same question, It does say in the book do not add any holes at all, mine is doing the same thing. I understand you posted this a year ago, but i just got mine and was concerned as well, mine is not draining either and the fan inside the unit is actually hitting the water. But its been working fine other than that. And I have no water in the house, so im assuming its working fine.
@@tradetalk1 These newer units are made to take advantage of the condensation to catch in the fan to be splashed on the condenser. Hello I’m trying to figure out why my ac Isn’t dripping water? The water is collecting inside & im not sure if it’s safe to use, I installed it very similar too how you installed . Is your water dripping ?
@@Fevez. After a year of use, the inside pan on mine was filled with dried sludge and was already showing signs of rust. The Filter? What did you do to shut it off? I wasn't aware you could shut only the 'filter' off or that it had an additional filter. Let me know and I'll see if I can help further. Thanks!
Tough Guys TV I’m guessing she did what I did lol I pressed the button of the filter and the little light turned off. Now I can’t get it to light back on
yeah I just pressed the filter button and it turned off , still haven't been able to get it back on 😅 not sure if theres a difference if it's on or off though
I definitely have some vibration but nothing too bad. Were you able to put the sticky foam pice underneath it? Wondering if it might be making hard contact somewhere and causing too much vibration for you. Mine isn’t very loud at all, it’s a small room as well. If you do uncover what the issue was circle back so we can help anyone else with the same issue!! Thanks for checking out the video and for reaching out! 💪🏻
I have the same issue. Mine filled with water and was flying water all over inside the unit. Called Toshiba they were no help. Just said tilt the unit some. But the makes no difference since there is no place for the water to drain. Poor Design
There’s a filter that slides out of the front right side when facing it (on the inside) that you can clean. As far as cleaning the internals, I’ve got no idea unfortunately. Thanks for watching!
i'm trying to figure out how to operate the fresh air intake. there is a graphic in the manual but I don't see it on the ac. and I can see outside the house through the ac?
Hello, I have the Toshiba RAC-WK0611CRU model, and am currently having a big struggle with it leaking into the living room floor. I have checked the window unit angle, and that checks out. It's tilted back. I have removed the front cover, cleaned everything in it including filter, and I'm still getting the leaking issue. I don't want to remove the unit from the window, as it's sealed rather well and I'm basically on my own with this, so I am hoping to find another way to clear any obstruction that might be causing the water to not drain towards the back. The drain outlet underneath has been checked for a plug, but I am currently waiting for a pipe cleaner set to arrive in order to try accessing through the drain area. I have also used water hose pressure on the backside of the unit with success in removing debri and dirt, however, I have let it dry and the problem continues to persist. Do you have a video or could you make one discussing this issue and possible alternative ways to troubleshoot? I'm out of ideas.
I just bought one of these for a replacement on a camper. Why this camper came with this style ac until I have no clue. I’ve been trying to figure out where the condensation drips from.
As far as I know it drains somewhere from the portion that’s outside. I’ve been running it for a year and it’s not had any issues nor have I had to manually drain it.
@@TheToughGuysTV oh okay there was a big storm and there is water in it and we been trying to figure it out to drain it but well find out and thank you for your help
I'm debating on whether to get this or a midea 6000 btu one...both seem to check most boxes for me. I don't want to drill any holes (live in a rental, and don't have a drill, and my window is aluminum) . Think it'll be ok without using the hardware to drill it into the window frame? I have wooden boards I can use to press down on the part of the window that presses against the unit (not sure how to describe that lol). Also I'm hoping to not have to add the support ledge thing outside the window..think it'll still be safe? Thanks.
Never a bad idea for additional support if you are at all concerned about it potentially falling out. The heavy part is outside the window, so you need to make sure it's well secured. I can't comment on your direct situation, but def use caution and good luck!
That's a great question, and unfortunately I'm not sure on that answer. I'm not sure if you've tried to contact Toshiba directly, but might be a good place to start. I did find this on amazon - looks like there are window units specifically for vertical sliding windows, so my guess is that for this unit it's not possible - www.amazon.com/dp/B01B4XUU2O/?tag=phvac01-20
I have a question. I just bought one and it has styrofoam on the inside of the part of the unit that’s outside the window😮. Is that normal or was I supposed to remove it? I don’t see a way to do that as part of the unboxing.
Hello I came across your video and I have the same AC I was trying to figure out how to set the sleep timer since I threw away the instructions can you maybe help me out?
I'm not positive on the sleep timer but the 'timer' function allows you to set a timer with the arrow buttons on the unit itself - not sure if that correlates to the 'sleep timer' function exactly. Wish I could be more help for you on that!! Thanks for reaching out!
@@TheToughGuysTV I think the timer goes in increments of 5min. Example: 0.5= 5min, 1.0=10 min... If the timer it's off position it means the unit will shut off in x minutes. If it's in the on position it means the unit will turn on automatically in x minutes. Kinda confusing due to the lack of display info.
My sister bought this toshiba ac n it's turned down to 62 but not cooling room it's blowing a little cool aur but not like it should do u know what it could be
Our landlord installed this model in our house. It is recessed in a wall cut out and we can not for the life of us figure out how to remove the filter to clean it. I can’t find anything online showing how to remove it. Any tips??
Question about the condensation coil/ water drainage. I didn’t notice a drain hole on mine. Now it sounds like it’s full of water, friend had similar experience and had a bubble in the paint. Would like to avoid that at all cost and to save my security deposit. Any idea?
@@TheToughGuysTV Did a little more research, seems like the water is more likely to build up on warmer days. Every doc and user manual I have found points to it being completely normal. Thanks again for the great video & speedy reply!
@@TheToughGuysTV Well in Florida the humidity is very high. The whole bottom of my unit was covered in water and it was flying around inside the machine even with it tilted. There should be a drain opening. Going to end up drilling an opening to drain the moisture.
Hello, what size area are you using 6000 btu?. I am thinking of buying the 8000 btu model. However, I don't know if it would be enough. But I have horizontal sliding window . is it problem?
I only use it for my office, about 150-200 SF, so it’s overkill - it turns that room into an ice cube. It would easily do well in a much larger room. For the horizontal slider you may run into issues - see if Toshiba sells a kit for sliders. Good luck!
I'm not sure how far the wings extend out, but I feel like 42" may be too large. If you check online at the store that is selling it, they may have specifications listed that show how far those side pieces extend out - or an install guide PDF you could check as well. Good luck!
Toshiba,GE,Amana,Black and decker and MOST ACs are made by HAIER.The Cheaper Haier would be the Cheapest to buy since they are all the same(Look at the control boards}Myself I am looking for a good AC that really COOLS my bedroom at 6000BTUs.Think it should be a LG or a Frigidaire since they are around $200.As the rest maybe the Emerson also.As for the rest of the NO NAME Brands, yep it seems they charge more buttttt its best to get a brand that you know.....
Seriously that was a pain in the butt to fish that screw out of there... and it’s almost an exact fit to fall through those grates.. haha gotta love it 💪🏻
I’m considering buying the 15,000 btu of this brand and wondering how strong and cold of air did your unit put out. I’m concerned because home depot is not offering the extended warranty on this brand like they do GE and other brands. I have a Frigidaire 12000 unit now that’s only 3 years old and it barely blows air and can’t cool 400 sq room at all. I’ve cleaned filters and cools and even cleaned outside unit out. It never really cooled well when brand new so I’ll not buy another Frigidaire unit again
This unit blows ice cold for us. It’s in a smaller room though, about 200 SF, but it has a bunch of windows and gets a good amount of heat from the sun. I’ve been really happy with it to be honest. Thanks for reaching out! 👍🏻
Tough Guys TV thanks for the response. Home Depot was out of this brand so I bought the closest I could get which was the LG smart 14000 btu and I have to say I’m very impressed with it. My 450 sq foot room wrapped with big windows stays very cool and it even flows through to kitchen some.
Hello! My landlord just installed the same new unit and the coils froze over the first night.. it doesn’t matter if I have it set at 83 degrees, they still freeze 😭
I haven’t had that issue with mine and I crank it wayyyy down on the temp too. Been using it steady since I installed it. My guess would be its a defective unit.
Yes for sure, it's really a great size and super easy to manage. It definitely still helps to have a 2nd person when placing in the window opening though that's for sure. Thanks for checking out the video!
First thing I can think of would be to check the circuit it’s hooked up to, and the outlet itself to make sure no issues there. Then run an extension cord and plug it into a different room altogether. Worst case the unit itself is defective, no doubt it happens - hopefully the store you bought it from will swap it. Good luck!
Good start a video but why would on earth you turn over the box with the AC upside down and lean it back the Freon could’ve been objectifying to the movement and also could’ve messed up your cooling settings but I have the same AC and the shit kicks ass

yeah I just pressed the filter button and it turned off , still haven't been able to get it back on 😅 not sure if theres a difference if it's on or off though
Does is just cold ❄️
Or both cold & hot 🥵
Hey buddy. I just put this same AC in yesterday. Its little bassy and vibrates. Any tips? Was yours bassy?
I definitely have some vibration but nothing too bad. Were you able to put the sticky foam pice underneath it? Wondering if it might be making hard contact somewhere and causing too much vibration for you. Mine isn’t very loud at all, it’s a small room as well. If you do uncover what the issue was circle back so we can help anyone else with the same issue!!
Thanks for checking out the video and for reaching out! 💪🏻
@@TheToughGuysTV thanks man yeah I put all the phone and stuff just figured out it's the compressor making noise
My parents lost the instructions. You are supposed to put water on it, right?
No you do not need to put water on the AC
I showed my husband how to do that too. Is there a drain plug to take out for the condensation? Can't find anything online or in the manual. TIA
I have the same issue. Mine filled with water and was flying water all over inside the unit. Called Toshiba they were no help. Just said tilt the unit some. But the makes no difference since there is no place for the water to drain. Poor Design
I Saw My Regional Manager Put A Block Of Wood To Tilt For Drainage.
How do you clean this?
There’s a filter that slides out of the front right side when facing it (on the inside) that you can clean. As far as cleaning the internals, I’ve got no idea unfortunately. Thanks for watching!
If your unit has WI FI options, plz show us how you connect the unit to your network. Thanks
Mine did not have any wifi options - haven't seen that, but would be interested myself!
How u clean the filter if it has one
i'm trying to figure out how to operate the fresh air intake. there is a graphic in the manual but I don't see it on the ac. and I can see outside the house through the ac?
Same dude
As far as I know it drips out the rear side, the part that's exposed on the exterior. For an exact spot on the rear side, I'm not sure unfortunately
How would I drain the ac , I try refuring to the manual but it doesn't show the drain holes or plug , so is there a way or where is the hole located
@@leilei7211 I Saw My Regional Manager Put A Block Of Wood To Tilt For Drainage.
Can you buy accessories to use this on a vertical sliding window?
No, you do not remove it 👍🏻
Does the foam need to be taken out of the inside of the air conditioner?
No, it does not - Thanks!
Tough Guys TV thank you for the response. Appreciate it 🙂
@@TheToughGuysTV I think the timer goes in increments of 5min. Example: 0.5= 5min, 1.0=10 min... If the timer it's off position it means the unit will shut off in x minutes. If it's in the on position it means the unit will turn on automatically in x minutes. Kinda confusing due to the lack of display info.
What’s the filter button on it for???
Thanks
No problem! Thanks so much for watching!
Thank you 💎❤️
You are so welcome!!
Wickwd thanks for this! Ps ur wife is a boss!!
Thanks!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Thanks bro
Glad the video helped out!
My sister bought this toshiba ac n it's turned down to 62 but not cooling room it's blowing a little cool aur but not like it should do u know what it could be
I’m the 500th like 👍
Hey!!!!! Thank you for the support! 🙏🏻
My instruction manual DOES say to pull the rubber past the rails to slot it in, even has a picture. Maybe they watched your video.
Hey! That would be awesome if so! Thanks for the note and thanks for watching as well!
Our landlord installed this model in our house. It is recessed in a wall cut out and we can not for the life of us figure out how to remove the filter to clean it. I can’t find anything online showing how to remove it. Any tips??
The filter is removed from the side
Does it drain?
Water drains out the backside of it, not sure if there’s a port to be honest. We sold this house last year
Please help just bought this today cant see or find where this drains ??? i have the same exact unit!!!
It drains out the back of the unit, the part that's sitting outside the window.
@TheToughGuysTV I figured it out thank you so much for responding...
Question about the condensation coil/ water drainage. I didn’t notice a drain hole on mine. Now it sounds like it’s full of water, friend had similar experience and had a bubble in the paint. Would like to avoid that at all cost and to save my security deposit. Any idea?
I haven’t had any issues with water draining back inside on my end of things, and I use the unit consistently.
@@TheToughGuysTV Did a little more research, seems like the water is more likely to build up on warmer days. Every doc and user manual I have found points to it being completely normal. Thanks again for the great video & speedy reply!
Hi I have the same problem is it safe to use even tho it sounds like the water is inside?
@@TheToughGuysTV Well in Florida the humidity is very high. The whole bottom of my unit was covered in water and it was flying around inside the machine even with it tilted. There should be a drain opening. Going to end up drilling an opening to drain the moisture.
@@davejohnson3093 I Saw My Regional Manager Put A Block Of Wood To Tilt For Drainage.
Im having the same issue with water flying on the inside.
My 3rf year using it forst time water built up.
Do you remove the styrofoam that’s inside the AC unit?
I think it's to insulate
Any idea on how to properly clean it without having to uninstall the whole unit?
That's a great question - I've not tried to clean it yet, but when we do I'll consider doing a video on it to help out! Thanks and good luck!
Good luck!
My window is 47 inches wide. You think it will fit? Will it cover the sides stretched out all the way
My room is only 121sq feet
It’s 42 inches. I double checked
Any idea why it keeps turning off? Like it will blow cold air fit like 5 minutes then it will turn off and only the fan will work 😢
Could be the thermostat setting? As in the unit is reaching the required temp so shutting down.
Thank you so much for suffering so we don't have to;)
Seriously that was a pain in the butt to fish that screw out of there... and it’s almost an exact fit to fall through those grates.. haha gotta love it 💪🏻
do you know how to take out the filter? i tried taking it out the side but when it’s like an inch out it just stops or like it gets stuck
Mine just pulls all the way out so not sure what’s happening on your end.
Nice! Glad you found an option that worked out great!
You skipped the optional support shelf?
I’ll take your word for it 🤷🏼♂️
Toshiba looks quite small and light weight. It looks good as compared to.otger small AC
Yes for sure, it's really a great size and super easy to manage. It definitely still helps to have a 2nd person when placing in the window opening though that's for sure. Thanks for checking out the video!
My problem is my top rail won’t get tight
How bout the water discharge is in the back
It’s a drip out of the backside of the unit, nothing major that I ever saw with it.
what happens if it rains?
The outside of the unit get's wet of course, but that doesn't cause any issues for you on the inside. These are designed to be outside.
I just installed mine and it keeps shutting off and on..please any advice
First thing I can think of would be to check the circuit it’s hooked up to, and the outlet itself to make sure no issues there. Then run an extension cord and plug it into a different room altogether. Worst case the unit itself is defective, no doubt it happens - hopefully the store you bought it from will swap it. Good luck!
Good start a video but why would on earth you turn over the box with the AC upside down and lean it back the Freon could’ve been objectifying to the movement and also could’ve messed up your cooling settings but I have the same AC and the shit kicks ass
I bought one and the remote was wrong. That small remote isn't for those :(
By any chance can I have the part number for the filter
I've been looking for this for you, I can't find anything for the filter. If I do I'll circle back.
