Been watching a lot of woodworking videos and building my tool collection, and I ended up deciding to design something that was basically EXACTLY THIS: the upper storage, french cleat, bench, movable power strips... THIS was my vision. It's.... beautiful.

How did you account for the concrete lip on the garage at the end of the wall? Did you shorten the back legs by the height of the lip so it could sit flush? You can see the lip I am talking about at 0:25
I built a lip on the back of the bench to butt it up against the wall, but also my bench has 4x4 legs that had 2x4 crossbeams that were higher than the cement lip, so the whole bench was already 1.5 inches (the depth of a 2x4) closer to the wall, plus a small lip on the back of the bench to keep things from sliding off and it works wonderfully!
Awesome build! By chance do you have plans for the actual bench itself? Looks real solid but very clean looking. I have made a few out of two by fours but that looks like 4x4s for the legs maybe. Any information on it would be appreciated. Again awesome stuff.

Love this build. This is probably the second time I have said that but just going to be building this shortly in my own garage.

The design for the ceiling storage is pretty solid. I just moved into a house and had to take down the one that the previous owner built... Thanks for the kind words! Made the 45 degree cuts with a table saw. Stay tuned for the follow up videos on the rest of the garage remodel, it's really coming along! Good luck on your project!
The one's I used have been discontinued. The company that made them has replaced them with this model: www.amazon.com/Onforu-Bluetooth-floodlight-Synchronize-Waterproof/dp/B08CTZW2BW?ref_=ast_sto_dp. I like the warm white color. It really brings out the warm color of dewalt but these can also be switched to daylight color if you are doing something that needs to be "bluer" in color. I have 16 of these over my bench but they are in banks of 4 lights. I only need one bank on for working but if I have lots of things laid out I turn them all on. They have been flawless. The brightness is perfect. I can dim them if needed. It lights things up perfectly. What other questions do you have? I've had them for two years now by the way.
Well done and thanks for sharing. How did you end up re-doing the holders for the screwdrivers, and pliers, you were saying you didn't like the initial results(?). I like the bird, he's a funny character.
I ended up keeping the plier holder the way it is. If you keep the tools leaning forward it works nicely. The screwdriver holder I ended up redoing with magnetic plates on a french cleat. This is one of four videos where I show most of the cleats I built th-cam.com/video/eL62BUgosJc/w-d-xo.html
There are only a couple of duplicates for when I'm working with my three kids. There is a 1/2 inch impact gun, a 3/8 impact gun, two impact drivers, two hammer drills, and two sanders, everything else there is only one of. But from a distance it looks like a lot of the same thing. I often work with my family so we are doing different stations with the project.
This was a major upgrade in tools from my craftsman 19 v set that was all beat up. Remodeled the garage and bought new tools. The ones on my truck are all beat up.
At the 6:30 point I noticed on the right side a lot of those organizers. are all of those separate organizers or a giant setup? regardless where did you get them? :)
@@SABERTOOTHBEAVER That's brilliant , I saw that and I was awestruck! I'm in the middle of setting up my 1st workshop in my shed and try to plan how I want to do things for 30 years out so I can convert stuff over to a bigger workshop when I get a bigger place. Definitely like the idea of having that much organization organization and having it also handy along with this video. I think it's the best thing I found toward what I need to be honest so thank you!!!!
It was a combination of other designs I saw that I integrated into this. It had to fit in the space between my garage windows with room for floor bins and upper storage. I'm going to be doing a garage remodel video that has more details soon. I'm finishing up my French cleat videos now. Did you see the 10 french cleat ideas I posted?
Just wondering if you had any issues with the led Lights you choose to use? And would you still use the same lights. And have you had and problems with sawdust settling on your light fixtures?
I'm a couple years in and they have been awesome. I don't have young eyes any more so light is vital. I would do it the same again. There is a little bit of dust on everything in there now, but it hasn't affected performance. The lights get warm but the wood around them has stayed cool. I don't have any touching wood directly, they are all on mounts spacing them off the surface (the ones the lights came with). Should I do another video just on the lights as an update to give more info?

Thanks Jay. I really appreciate it. Hope you enjoy the things we are building in the future.
Can you tell me more about the overhead lights? brand, how it has been performing ,etc.
@@SABERTOOTHBEAVER Many Thanks.
Which stain did you use for the wood? Building my own bench so would be good to know
Varathane brand ipswitch pine on the deep color parts and watch natural danish oil
Treat it with a pre-stain first if you want it to look really good. I did not use a pre stain and it ended up blotchy in some places
Do you collect drills or do you actually use all of those?
There are only a couple of duplicates for when I'm working with my three kids. There is a 1/2 inch impact gun, a 3/8 impact gun, two impact drivers, two hammer drills, and two sanders, everything else there is only one of. But from a distance it looks like a lot of the same thing. I often work with my family so we are doing different stations with the project.
Carpenters are starwing in the world and you have 200 Dewalts Shame on you!!
What stain did you use?
Ipswich pine varathane and natural watco on the cleats
Do you clean all your tools with some serious elbow grease or are they just never used and all for show?
This was a major upgrade in tools from my craftsman 19 v set that was all beat up. Remodeled the garage and bought new tools. The ones on my truck are all beat up.
Nice workshop. What kind of LED lights are you using at 08:49?
RGB flood lights they are about $30 for a pair on Amazon

nice shop build ? do you work for dewalt
No, just a huge fan.
What brand/ model are you LED lights?
Onforu 30 w led
Thanks for the response, I am going to go check them out
At the 6:30 point I noticed on the right side a lot of those organizers. are all of those separate organizers or a giant setup? regardless where did you get them? :)
That is six part holders screwed into a piece of wood to create a bank of them
I also bought an extra one so that I have extra drawers from when they inevitably break
I think it's the best thing I found toward what I need to be honest so thank you!!!!
interested in making something similar where did you get the plans?
It was a combination of other designs I saw that I integrated into this. It had to fit in the space between my garage windows with room for floor bins and upper storage. I'm going to be doing a garage remodel video that has more details soon. I'm finishing up my French cleat videos now. Did you see the 10 french cleat ideas I posted?
@@SABERTOOTHBEAVER I didnt but thank you for the info
Very nice job

Just wondering if you had any issues with the led Lights you choose to use? And would you still use the same lights. And have you had and problems with sawdust settling on your light fixtures?
I'm a couple years in and they have been awesome. I don't have young eyes any more so light is vital. I would do it the same again. There is a little bit of dust on everything in there now, but it hasn't affected performance. The lights get warm but the wood around them has stayed cool. I don't have any touching wood directly, they are all on mounts spacing them off the surface (the ones the lights came with). Should I do another video just on the lights as an update to give more info?
@@SABERTOOTHBEAVER it could be helpful to a lot of people!
Did you see my video on the lights?
