I got confused with the title alittle bit.. Yes there is a 50 inch ST50, but i just wanted to let you know that for smaller size ( eg. 42inch) theres a GT50 42 inch model aswell that has better a better picture then the ST50. The quality of all the 3 model goes ST50 - GT50 - VT50 But VT50 is only starting at 50 Inch, while the other 2 have smaller models I bought myself a used VT50 and its insane in Quality, if you looking to buy one, look at ebay there might be used ones
Refresh rate is much higher on plasma and the colors and contrast to me look much better went to a buddys house and I like his plasma over my lcd but it was a pioneer plasma but I have looked at several Panasonics and reviews and they tend to be at the top of the list. Led lcd are pretty good as well.
while i seen the 3D on this ST50 at bestbuy i did see some crosstalk ,BUT u have to understand everyone's eyes are different and that's why i try to get the good thing's out of this review then try and look for bad thing's in a tv review ,just remeber this is u enjoy the tv then really that's all that matter's no matter what anyone else thing's it's your cash do what u will with it .enjoy and have a good one.
Crikey! Just how many variations do Panasonic have? I'm trying to find a review on the TH-P50ST50A and I've found four different serial numbers so far and apart from the first "p" followed by the screen size they're all different models. Include in that references reviewers have made to further models and it seems like they make six different ranges of plasma panel each with 50, 55, 60 and 65inch variations. Surely that would be nuts?
Those prices are way better then LED tv prices this year.it's because plasma has been out on the market for almost 17 years so the market is so full that the price's on plasma can be very low.
I really can't agree with his assessment of the 3D crosstalk. I've seen several 3D full length films on my set and I think the 3D is outstanding. Better than anything I've seen before it.
Would using a plasma tv as a pc gaming monitor be a good idea? Also Ive noticed that with my current lcd tv there's a hdmi port with (dvi) under it for just such use but I only noticed a (arc) hdmi on this one but dont know what that's for.
I just finally want to say that my last TV was a Bravia(excellent) so I was expecting really great things from this viera and 2D wise, even to my relatively un-educatd eyes this st is flat-out amazing. I now understand what reviewer pukes and, manufacturers are going on about when they talk about "blacks" AND how clear a picture can be when it's dark. Really lovely. 3D wise my experience is my experience can be labelled as SHIT and swamped with regret.
its ST not VT! it doesnt have the same design and quality as the VT.. its the 2nd in the list tho with all the 42 inch plasma TV, the best 42 inch you can buy is the GT 42 ( GT has 42 and 50, VT 50 only and higher )
Yeah there's the ST50s which are the mid-range ones, the VT50s which are the top end ones. Then there's the WT50s and the GT50s all available in a range of sizes with no helpful info on their web site to distinguish them unless you go sifting through the model comparisons. Nice TVs, but Panasonic are bad for product info and documentation. Too many products..
Like... DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID BY RELYING ON REVIEWS... insist that you watch dark scenes in 3D for yourself because the "reviews" for the st50 across the board said crosstalk almost didn't exist and that this panel is of nearly reference standard BUT if you, like me are dreaming of seeing Avatar from your couch like it was in the cinema then maybe don't buy this TV. Because mine is either not up to it or just broken from the factory.
I now have one of these and so far all of my 2D experience is GREAT. Connectivity wise? The Android viera remote app doesn't work if your TV isn't on the internet. F*****g why not? The thing has "built in wi-fi"(I live in regional Australia. My phone is my only slow internet) But if I USB my phone to the TV it doesn't work either, just like my Bravia didn't. So I'm still waiting for all of that happy horse shit to work. And the 3D beautiful UNLESS the scene is dark and THEN it is fucking riddled
...with crosstalk. Fucking riddled with it. Via my Phillips 3D Blu-Ray or gaming on my xbox 360. If the scene depicted is at night or even just in shadow the ghosting is massive. Disappointed.
I am watching this video from the future.

Except Pioneer Kuro. Expensive as heck

They are better for sports because they have a much higher refresh rate than any lcd/led.

good video
i live in colorado springs and i was wondering if the altitude level would effect this tv?
is the tv in this video calibrated?
how much it cost
@TroyRx he didn't compare the quality to Samsung he compared the appearance. He likes how the Samsungs look.
they do their tests in a dark room.

Why?
has anyone got this tv for gaming im really interested in it and have some questions
Actually that's incorrect, the ST50 and the GT50 are basically the same TV. The only real difference are two additional preset modes, that's it.

panasonic makes the best plasma tvs and plasma is way better for sports
