Just started as a Controller for Nottinghamshire Blood Bikes. Will be driving as well once I have completed the training. Its a great way to give something back to the NHS
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing. I’m on standby for volunteering for the Whiteknight group YORKSHIRE. I’ve got my IAM and RoSPA, white Bluetooth helmet and airvest at the ready. Just need the nod to go now. 🤞🤞 Thanks again for sharing. Ride Safe!
Hey stupid question - when there are no jobs like at the end of this video, but the shift isn't over yet, what do you do? Do you take the bike back to the garage or back home with you until the end of the shift? Thanks for your service
@@TheScottishBiker Ah cool mate was sure I'd watched it. Do you ever feel hesitant about leaving the bike when delivering parcels? Bike theft in Edinburgh was pretty bad for a while.
Christopher Cunningham no with it being an emergency bike it’s normally pretty safe, it’s always at hospitals or care homes and the odd private address and it’s always in sight
Excellent insight into the role of a Blood Bikes, well done David. All the best
Not my area but Thank You for all you guys do all over the UK

Excellent and informative video, David. Inspired me to join my local IAM, after months of dithering. Atb. 👍
An education, a real eye opener, thanks for this video and taking the time to make it... cheers
Great organization I'll have to wait till I can travel to Scotland and order some swag to support it
You do a great job. I needed many transfusions, so thank you for getting the blood to me.
Delirious NomaD we don’t do transfusions we would have done your blood tests etc to and from the labs
@@TheScottishBiker Ah OK. Thank you for that

So do the Blood bikes actually deliver any blood?
We do deliver blood samples which is regular, any units of blood is done by the blood transfusion service
in with Northumbria Blood Bikes and we deliver blood and blood products from the blood transfusion service to hospitals
Why no lights or two tone?
We are not an emergency service, just a free service, in Scotland no BB have lights or sirens.
