    Ranger pitch black is amazing as you said. I also like the “natures walk” trio: stream, wild plum and butterscotch. They are beautiful paired in any combination or all three together.

    I had no trouble understanding you😐. You’re right about adding alcohol instead of more ink. I tend to get a build up of ink in places on my tiles

      Lynne Henry Merrick yeah it’s easy to do for sure. And there are so many more surprises when you thin out the ink. .... and thanks! Good to know. :)

    I really like your demos! Beautiful work! I like Ranger “Slate” & “Sepia” as they also have many colors when thinned with alcohol. Love alcohol inks as they are always a surprise & a challenge. Have been doing AI for about 2 years & am always surprised at what can be done with them. Thank you for sharing😁

      Gaila Hitt thanks so much for your comment! Yes even after working with them so long i still love that there’s different colours with some of them. :) they’re addicting!

      Totally addicting!! Just finished a 11x14 on black modeling film for art center I belong to. If u have a chance try it out. Very nice substrate. Of course, since it is black, use snow cap with colors.😃

    You ended up with a really nice fish head in the bottom left corner right over the pink ink. One of those happy accidents as Bob Ross would say.

    This looks amazing and love all the colours in the one colour amazing. Can I ask do you use isopropyl and blending solution on this piece or just the alcohol? I can never work out the difference with them. Thank you for a wonderful video

    • @spencer-millanart3253
      @spencer-millanart3253  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! I just use alcohol. Colours have a smoother blend with blending solution but I rarely use it as I find it sticky. I prefer alcohol.
      Thanks for watching!

    Love your overall technique. What is the wattage of your hair dryer? just wondering how much air is enough to move the ink... thank you!

      Thank you! So sorry I missed your msg until.now! Its 1200. :) its more about how far you hold it from your paper and the angle that's important though.

      Is this a blow dryer with a cool setting. I seem to warp my yupo paper with my dryer, even on the low setting

    • @spencer-millanart3253
      @spencer-millanart3253  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ursulablackburn696 yes it has a cool setting. You can use a tiny tiny bit of heat on the medium thickness yupo and a little more on the heavy. But I find the heat dries the alcohol too fast so tend to mostly use the cool setting.

    Hi, I'm new to alcohol ink.
    For some reason the system doesn't let me watch your tutorial. Yet I would like to ask you, some artists use a heat gun and others a hair dryer. What is their difference in use and which you recommend best to use? Thanks a lot for your help.

    • @spencer-millanart3253
      @spencer-millanart3253  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! To be fair I've never used a heatgun for AI. I know there are ones you can buy with different heat settings but I think it would just be too hot. The heat would dry the inks too fast and you couldn't get them to move as much. When I use the hairdrywr I use the very low setting or cool. I also use other tools to move air around... check out the mini leaf blower on amazon. Or a lens blower/bulb. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have more questions!

      Thanks a lot for your reply. You have given me some brilliant idea. I have got an air brush and I can use it as a blower tool!! :) thanks a lot.

    Does it make a difference to use the dryer under hot or cool setting? You mentioned not having the cool setting.

    Hi. when you use the isopropyl alcohole it is safe to use to dry with the dryer with the warm air?

    • @spencer-millanart3253
      @spencer-millanart3253  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, I know always use a mask to protect me from the fumes of the isopropyl alcohol. So with a mask it is safe, otherwise I would say no. Hope that helps!

    Hi, just wondering about the hair dryer you use. I am new to alcohol ink and tried to use my hair dryer but it blew the ink way too much off the paper and I felt I had no control whatsoever! Any tips?

    • @spencer-millanart3253
      @spencer-millanart3253  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Thanks for watching! :) I used a tressemme 2200... nothing expensive.
      You should be able to use any hairdryer. The trick is to point it away from the ink initially and then slowly tilt it towards the ink and the direction you want it to go. You dont need full power of the dryer. Hope that helps?
