Great demo Pete. I've been using this pedal for about a year. It's got the chug, no doubt about it. More gain than my Mesa Mk. V. I run it into the clean channel and it's amazing. But it will also turn a Fender amp into a sleeper metal rig. Heavy is the perfect name for this pedal.
The amount of distortion pedals I played around with trying to find my sound was insanity wish I had have found this pedal years before ago if anyone's wondering how good it is I'd rate it 10/10 all day

That was some composition what a ride and joy to the ears! Just got my wampler Dracarys and caught your demo through of that and now this ...Really good crunch clarity and dynamics.
Fantastic demo Pete. I bought this pedal a couple months ago and I can't stop talking about it. It's got a ferociously good midrange, the low end is nice and tight and palm mutes sound chuggy and aggressive. The built in noise gate also works incredibly well too! Keep up the stellar work!

Pete, your videos are allways first class. IMHO this pedal, since it is very expensive, should have a seprate EQ with Bass, Mid and Trebble for each channel. But the sounds you get out of it are great.
Every time I think I'm getting better I see a Pete Thorn review and he casually blisters around the fret board like it's nothing just to see what a piece of kit can do. Total respect mate, you keep giving me things to aim for!

Thanks for the demo; I think it sounds great. I've also been really happy with my Echosystem, their flagship two engine delay. They were very helpful when I had a minor issue that turned out to be fixable with the turn of a screw.
Pete what should i get to compliment the heavy menace? You had great sustain and reverb. Maybe a chorus or flanger? Or will an EQ do it? Or a delay and EQ? Lol
Either of the Natural/Aggressive gate settings seem to really cut the overall level back considerably, I wonder if you can make it back with more gain/output? Thanks for the demo Pete!

If that is what you're option is go empress heavy... You wont be disappointed. I would also look at the Herbert.. those are the two I'm stuck between. Empress heavy and Herbert. I've played them both enough but they're both so fucking sick... I had a tight metal pro for a while and traded it in. Guess it depends what you're looking for. oh yeah revv g4 and g3 are way up there also. I really feel like the tight and fatmetal both just dont sound nearly as good as some of the other metal preamps out rn. Just my 2 cents.

I’m sort of not a believer in the “go into the return of the Amp thing”, Although other people have good success with it but I believe that eliminating the tube preamp, it’s not something that I’d want to do- if only for the reason that, how do you switch to a clean sound? Although I am going to do that in the video for the Neunaber preamp pedal I’m working on now- as they designed it to be used that way (as well as in front and di into a pa or console).
@@PeteThorn okok thats just because I have a peavey 6505+ and the clean channel is not clean so my MXR 6505 or other pedals do not works well in front of the amp.. sort of overdrive over the overdrive so the only way for me is to go clean by the Return loop if I want to use a pedal. But yes keeping tube pre-amp is alway better if you can. And yes I've seen success in the return loop on Ola Englund vhannel who tested a simple Boss Metal Zone as a pre-amp and WOWWW didn't not expected that result as I hated that pedal before Thank you for the reply Pete

I love the Heavy, been a fixture in my board since I got it. I have found its best with the weight control way down as it has bottom end to spare.
