    I hope they have good cupholders and grab rails throughout. Its funny how this boat looks so huge at the dock like an office building but out on the ocean it is like a tiny cork. I have been on cruise ships that were in the same situation only larger. It doesn't matter how big your boat is. The sea is bigger.

      Calm down man, it’s a simple video of a boat going through some fucking waves, there is zero need to describe what we can clearly see and even less then zero need to hear about anything else of you past with boats and waves… calm down

    Sadly that was me...yes the stabilizers were working...it was that bad...the waves and the winds were coming from different directions that why it was difficult to keep her straight...they dont call it a washer machine for nothing. ..I've been in some nasty seas...but this was definitely where I found the my limits and those of the boat...

      Glad you are safe. I've been on the water for 55 yrs and I had to shake my head a few times watching that size of a yacht getting tossed around like that. Hope everything was batten down. A few dishes or stemware broken?

      I could tell that the stabilizers were working, not too much rolling. What kind do you have? I'm going to assume fins? I don't think you'd have a problem with a gyroscopic device not working. What size do you think those were around? I'm sure the bow is pretty high up. Good job, just a lousy day.

      I captain a 87 foot through there and I have done something extremely similar lol, the waves astern are just overpowering and the rudders never seem to turn fast enough. We put stabilizers on our boat made for a 130' yacht so we have some nice roll authority :)

    • @albertcaro6191
      @albertcaro6191 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@craigrobberts7673 That doesnt work with these larger boats. Broaching is your greatest fear and the waves are coming from multiple directions and speeds. Also haulover generates standing waves from the uneven bottom.

      @@jakobfolmar6604 First off the boat was WAY bigger than 14ft. You'd be a fool to put a 14 footer out in this kind of chop. Second he had more experience as a captain. He basically let the current take him in ease on and off the throttle. Third and finally the huge 100ft used it's size to barrel through the waves which it can do. And why i said initially you need a boat that big to get through a channel with waves that rough. I live on Cape Cod, MA year round i know all about boating and big waves my friend. It's not just Florida that deals with big waves...(g)

    • @albertcaro6191
      @albertcaro6191 2 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      He was at full throttle coming in, what you don't realize is the power to weight ratio is tiny on these boats compared to what you are used too. It cant move how you think and whats scarier is the ocean dictates your direction of travel, so going faster means less time to correct course. I captain an 87' yacht through haulover so i have experience. If you do the math on the force applied to the hull from the wave astern, it dwarfs your rudders abilities to counteract it.

      No he wasn't, he was rubbish.
      Too slow for conditions, should be 5+ knots more with trim tabs set full to bow up.
      By setting the speed so low, he couldn't keep it in a straight line and was allowing the sea to dictate the course.

      I have to disagree I'm afraid. Returning to harbour he was going way too slow and being tossed about when surfing down the waves losing steerage way. He needed more speed to stay in control. A decent captain would have had that thing steering a constant course.

    I’ve always wondered, what is the point of going out in this? I am not from the area (from Aus) or familiar with it, but it always looks extremely windy and choppy.
    I’m guessing it goes out to the ocean to then enter another inlet, bay, or entry? Genuine question!

      Florida inlets are weak. Try the ones in pacific northwest for some real fun.

    When you are kayaking in open ocean with a following swell the craft behaviour is identical and exhausting because you just have to keep hammering along. I was doing a 20 km return jaunt one time and had 2 -3 m rolling swell behind me on the way back and I got a real work out. This was on a 3 m sit on kayak. I much prefer going into big swell.

    Natures roller coaster, be awesome to row a Dory out there, it's not the North Alantic or the inner bay at Longpoint in a storm, but would def be exciting.

    I always assumed Haulover's water was filthy. Here it looks postcard good. Is this jist a camera trick?

    The 116 could not have been at a worse speed, either high or low.

    My ship in the Navy was over 350 feet long and when the sea’s kicked up, you felt like you were in a John boat. The ocean always wins.

    What kind of drone did you use to handle the high wind? Great shots. 🐟

    That would’ve been a great Freeman ad, by blowing away that super yacht, with the passengers not spilling their drinks 😂
