So glad you video'd it. I just love Kew finds and what a way to find it. Well done! The hunt itself was amazing! I said it a few month back on a livestream that a Puddleduck find and Kew Gardens find together is incredibly common, it you go back and watch other finds. I always get optimistic about a Kew when someone finds a duck.
Highlights the importance of clicking on the record button ⏺️ each and every time. Congratulations on the Kew and all the other finds Great stuff Grosey 👍🏻
It was uncanny the way that with the Kew - you picked it out of the whole bag when you were straightening up the coins so you could count them. Fabulous hunt btw! ✌
The 2009 Kew Gardens (mintage = 210,000) 50p is NOT the rarest UK coin. That title goes to the alphabet 10p's of 2019. The highest mintage amongst them is 84,000 - with a couple as low as 63,000.
You've got me mate; you've caught me checking 1997 50ps as if they're going to be anything but Britannias. If that's the biggest thing you've got to shake your head at, you're living the dream. Here I am, making videos, sifting through coins for that rare find, and there you are, pointing out the obvious. Cheers for the heads-up! Honestly, I wish my life was as straightforward as a 1997 50p. Imagine that-no surprises, just Britannias all the way down. But hey, where's the fun in that, right? Thanks for keeping an eye out, though. Let's hope the next coin hunt brings a bit more excitement for both of us!
Of course you do! You're the first clown on here to give attitude, in a lovely sarcastic way, and you keep giggling like a girl! I don't need to look for a Kew Gardens, because I got mine in 2010. Authorised NGC - AMATEURS using FAKE 'grading', which is a con.@@GroseyCoinHunts
Oh no, did I hear you say you do NGC 'grading'? THE single worst thing to ever happen to this hobby - 'slabbing', with its FANTASY 'grading'. The same terrible thing happens to banknotes - I've bought a couple of 'slabbed' banknotes, and then cut them out, in disgust! I only bought them because they were cheap. When I see a coin in a 'slab', I call it a Plastic Coffin, because that's what it SHOULD be called.
Ah, I see your point now! As someone deeply immersed in the art of coin grading, your insights have truly been an eye-opener. How could we have been so misguided? Encapsulating these venerable pieces of history within plastic slabs? It's as though we believed that preserving their condition and authenticating their provenance was somehow beneficial for collectors and the broader market. What a quaint idea! And then there's the grading system-an intricate charade devised to offer a standardised evaluation of a coin's condition. Because, naturally, everyone prefers the sheer exhilaration of the unknown, the unmeasurable delight in speculating whether one's holding is a rare treasure or merely a polished bit of metal. The real thrill lies not in the pedantic specifics of grade or value but in the mystery itself. Indeed, who requires the reassurance of knowing precisely what they're buying or selling in a market as intricate as numismatics? The allure surely lies in the unpredictability, the lively fluctuations, and the passionate arguments over a coin’s condition based solely on individual perception and expertise, unswayed by any universal criteria. I must express my gratitude for illuminating the folly of our practices. Moving forward, I shall champion the resurgence of the golden era of coin collecting, where coins are liberated from their plastic confines to age with dignity, accruing that genuine patina only achievable through years of direct handling. After all, isn’t the quintessence of coin collecting the celebration of imperfection and the unpredictable voyage of each coin through the annals of history? Let us discard our loupes and grading scales, and instead, revel in the liberating uncertainty that accompanies the tradition of ungraded, unslabbed collecting. What an invigorating notion for the numismatic community to entertain!

🤔 are you sure 🧢 😅
Why does everyone turn the 1997's over? They are ALL Britannia's!
