Great vlog!! Cool to hear you are going to Costa Rica again!! As for waves getting too large for beginners in winter, the Straight of Juan Fuca actually is a great place to surf when the waves are too big on the main ocean. You can literally pick the size of the wave by how close or far you from the ocean. Both Port Angeles on the US and Victoria on the Canadian are great places to stay and both cities can catch some swell from time to time.

Ah yes we have friends in port Angeles that surf. Maybe we will have to make a trip up there this winter!

Heading to OR in a couple weeks to surf these spots. Is mid October too big for a lower end intermediate? Thanks for your videos BTW!!

Hi thanks for watching! It really depends! I had some good small surf last October, but even just this past weekend the surf was horrible 😅. If I had to pick I would recommend short sands as it’s been more clean and manageable compared to Indian Beach this year. Indian used to be my go to spot last year but the sand bar changed and I’ve had horrible sessions the last 4 times I’ve been there. Hope you have a good trip, maybe we’ll see you out there.
