I never would've thought this would be THE video I needed. I have struggled with intense road rage all of my life, I'm the driver pissed at all of the wreckless drivers and it completely grinds my gears. It's so bad I shake with anger, I've even followed people, thrown things at them out of my car. I realize this comes from me not dealing with childhood trauma as well as me always needing to be in control of everything that surrounds my life. I'm in counseling now and let me tell you! I have calmed down sooooooo much. Every single word he says in this video is the epitome of me, and I'm so glad that I'm able to write this comment because my behavior could've caused mine or someone else's life all because I didn't just "let it go!" We can't control other people's behavior or actions, only our own. I have had so much inner peace and calm since changing my mindframe and my attitude. Thank you so very much for this video!!❤️❤️❤️

I haven't been able to work on this no matter how much therapy I take or how many videos I watch. Can you please share how you managed to create this environment of internal peace and calmness?

Thank you for this. I never get mad really except when driving. Today I was irritated by someone going 50 in a 55. I was already having a bad day. I got close to them, and they flipped me off and yelled out the window. I passed them and laid on the horn once I got a chance. I went from "how about drive the speed limit!" to "what is wrong with me" in a matter of minutes. I've been driving too fast for too long, and rarely has anyone done what that guy did, but I'm kind of glad now because I realize I need to start driving with some sense before something bad happens. I appreciate your video.

Major Takeaway amongst most - The only two things you control are your thoughts and your actions.
Yes, when these things happen it does make you feel small and powerless (this relates to the perception of disrespect) and this is an element that breed the rage.

When my son was growing up, even through college, he never swore at home.

You are an absolute genius sir, thank you so much! You’re absolutely right, we have absolutely no control over anything except for our own thoughts feelings and behaviours, every time we get into our car and drive we’re going to see stupid driving all around us and we have absolutely no control over that and we can never fix it, I’m not ashamed to admit this but before I don’t know why but I used to get triggered when someone beeped their horn at me and one time I was sat at a red traffic ligh and someone beeped me from behind and I got out of my car and had a go at them but does that solve anything? Absolutely not, getting angry and shouting doesn’t fix anything and plus, if you think about it, when you hear a car beeping their horn how do you know if it’s even aimed at you, 9 times out of 10 it probably isn’t but if it is so what, getting out of your car to have a go at someone honestly it makes you the worst person as you’re sinking down to their level, be the better person and ask yourself these 2 things..is there anything that I can do to make the situation better and do I know why they’re being such an idiot..the first one possibly, the second one absolutely not..we don’t know what people are doing through..it takes years to not let road rage get the better of you..if you don’t know what someone is going through then don’t get angry with them, chances are you’ll never see them again, try to help out if you can but don’t get angry at someone who you’ll probably more than likely never ever see again..just chill out and let it go, don’t let anyone take away your happiness and your positive thoughts. 🙃

Doesn't work for me, I get terrible anger in the car, but I'm afraid it's nothing to do with me. I get angry when a car skips a queue using my lane and cuts in another, he is actually getting out of my way and inconveniencing others, so this is not me being angry at injustice to myself. I have always been someone who has stood up to bullies and that is the part of me that struggles on the road. These people would not act like this in a shop, they wouldn't barge in at the front of a long queue, so why do we let them get away with it on the road? It's arrogant and inconsiderate and the gene pool would be better off without those kinds of people. And I'm sorry, the whole making excuses for people, rubbish, it might work for one or two on occasion, but when you are seeing 10 or 20 inconsiderate drivers during your commute, that tactic starts to fail very quickly, because the excuses you're making for them is just not true. Besides, since when did excuses hold up in court? Oh Mr J Bloggs had just been fired and was having a bad day, so it is fine that he killed that 5 year old girl... well that is what dangerous, selfish and inconsiderate drivers can do, so it should not be accepted.

I don't resonate with the psychological experience of the WHY I sometimes rage. It's not about feeling slighted or unseen or mistreated. It is about fear because I saw something unsafe. I learned defensive driving which requires hyper awareness of everything around you. And generally speaking, people aren't very safe drivers. They are easily distracted. They take unnecessary and unsafe risks. They don't anticipate or watch other cars. So the feeling I have is feeling unsafe and annoyed at the person who did the thing that made me feel that way. Because I'm a male and was never taught to process my feelings, that always comes out as anger/rage. I think some of this evolutionary response as well.

Why are the most reckless drivers those with the most expensive cars? If I had an $80,000 BMW I'd be the most careful driver you've ever seen.

    • @lauradiphlipo9332

It's actually TRUE! There was a study done on this: the end result showed that people that drove cars that were BLUE in color were more aggressive drivers. It also showed that those driving more high-end vehicles, especially BMW's were also more likely to be less courteous on the roads. Maybe it just comes with the personality types of the people that are attracted to buying those types of cars. So now I always stay clear of BLUE Beamers, Lol...me and my GRAY Chevy

I get irritated when I’m in bumper-to-bumper traffic and people are going slow in the fast lane and not using their blinkers on top of not understanding how roundabouts work or when the light turns green and you’re making a left-hand turn only to have some idiot honk you for letting the right way traffic go first. this is why I have road rage. I can give two shits if someone’s texting and driving or is attempting to cut me off.

As a committed pedestrian, the main problem with Road Rage Drivers is a delusional belief that their own driving is without flaws, and everyone else is inferior to their driving skills.
The people who have the WORST driving skills also have the WORST road rage. They text while driving. They're looking at their phone, they're drinking and driving, they have the WORST habits any driver can have. They back out without looking at what others are doing around them, expecting them to watch out for them because, as you said at the beginning of the video, they are the Center of the Universe.
    Now...
If your driver is upset with you, and you're in the passenger seat, these are the people who also like to engage in Abusive Driving.
"Look at me! I'm driving fast! I'm in control! You're in the passenger side! This is terrific! Bet you won't say anything negative to me now, will ya! Weeeeeeee!"
When this happens, I'll get out of that car and just start walking, whenever the vehicle stops, or I will open the door, and wait for the fear of getting pulled over to make them stop the vehicle, no matter where I am.
I refuse to tolerate this type of driver any. More.

I used to watch road rage videos on youtube all the time when I was younger and now I'm 30 years old and I'm terrified of driving on highways by myself cause I'm so scared someone will road rage on me for doing something wrong like an accidental cut off or something. I've totally learned to just let it go, But I need some serious therapy help with severe anxiety.
