    Just for your information Shane... I have the older R6870 Di2 this has no secret buttons on the hoods... but if you set up sequential shifting on the right or left (one button up gear one button down gear) you can use the other buttons on the shifter (that are no longer used to change gear) to control your Garmin screen 👍

    So one way to get DFly ANT+/Bluetooth is to replace the SM-EW90 junction port typically mounted under the stem with a handle bar mounted SC-MT800 or SC-M9051B Di2 Digital Display Unit. The display acts as the junction ports, charging port, battery level and gear display in addition to both ANT+ and Bluetooth communication.

    I have this set up and also have ant+ lights. For me it's a bit of a miss that you can't configure "full beam" and "dipped beam" type config for night road riding. You can cycle modes but that means scrolling through full flash which isn't ideal at night. I guess this would be for Garmin to make this change.

Did you ever think about that or did someone ask for it? I startet a Thread in the Garmin Forums, too. I was hoping to switch between Data-Pages on my new watch whithout taking the hands of my handlebars would be possible. The lag looked tolerable to me but the screen sensitivity seems worrisome. Too many false positives and false negatives in such a short amount of time. Scrolling seems to be the worst offender as it twice registers a false tap instead of a swipe. Doing all this with sweaty fingers on a bouncing unit as you're riding your bike would not make this any easier. Ironically, I went with the 830 over the 530 because of the complaints about the physical back button on the latter. Oh, well, there is no winning here.
      Looking forward to Shane's full review of the 830 (or the arrival of mine, whichever comes first).

      @@dwilmer1980 TL;DR: Yes, I do actually! Just got mine yesterday and did my first ride today. Still getting used to the Garmin ecosystem but regarding the screen, here are my impressions:
      Yes the lag is there. It just does not bother me. The response is slow enough not to get unnoticed (esp. compared to any modern smart phone) but it's also quick enough that it does not seem to be annoying (at least not to me).
      The touch screen also occasionally misses taps. My experience so far has actually been quite like Shane's in shown in this video. The worst offender seem to be the soft buttons on the bottom. Not so much with swipes. Amazingly, pinch to zoom on the map feels smoother and more responsive (not scrolling though) -- go figure! Again, this happens rarely enough that I am not too bothered by it (yet?). I have not seen any signs of over-sensitivity though (falsely registered unintended taps or swipes) -- I would definitely be less tolerant of those.
      Haven't tested how it handles wet / sweaty fingers or gloves, yet, so I can't comment on that.
      My biggest disappointment about the screen (and the unit as a whole) is the freaking fonts -- they look fuzzy. Maybe the underlying screen resolution is too low or the anti-aliasing algorithm Garmin uses is crap but I honestly thought the screen was blurry when it came up for the first time. This felt like a bummer because the biggest reason for my switching from my Wahoo Bolt was that I couldn't quite make out the small letters in the navigation instructions on the Bolt.
      Today's ride squashed my apprehensions though. The Edge shows the navigation instructions on the top of the screen in large enough letters that I had no problem reading them. Also the slightly larger screen and colored display make up for the lack of crispiness. The brightness on auto was also great. Basically, I had no struggles seeing what's on Edge's screen. So I am keeping it :)
      YMMV, HTH

      Any software could make use of these channels. Zwift had Di2 enabled in very early beta, it has been disabled for a few years though.

    Yes I confirm don’t try update on Bluetooth : I have tried this week and it crashes. Because I have a Mac only it was difficult then to find a pc to terminate the update. Then it still didn’t work and no shifting but because battery was drain because of the fail update. After 3 days I was able to ride my bike again : nightmare this software by Shimano

      Wifi needs to be turned off on your phone/tablet for Di2 firmware updates.

    • @damFr
      @damFr 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Foye Troute WiFi and Bluetooth are not using the same frequency in MegaHertz. So no interference possible between WiFi and Bluetooth. It won’t change nothing to turn WiFi off unless Shimano put a bug in its software. But you could turn off Apple Watch if you have it and uses Bluetooth for less interference !

      Also very very important, if you connect to it via the etube app on the iphone, make sure you disconnect it when done. The iphone will maintain the connection and can kill the di2 battery in a matter of hours! Do this before a ride, drive an hour to trail and find a dead battery.

    • @rhysrunsriot
      @rhysrunsriot 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JeffreyGordonTheTankGordon yup, always disconnect it. But I had the problem on a previous D-Fly unit, before Bluetooth was available. It's even been into a Shimano dealer and they said it was fine. The only thing they changed was moving the D-Fly unit from between the rear derailleur and stuck it in the bottom bracket. Which was tidier, but didn't solve the battery drain issue.
