We have the same issue about interaction. I can't feel the character, especially the shipping Shiki and Rebecca compare to Natsu and Lucy who was more interaction.
@@shindragneel7160 While I do like the Homura ship, I have to disagree on this one. I’d argue Shiki and Rebecca have more interactions than any other pair of characters in the story. They were casually hanging out at the pool. Plus, Shiki is often there to support Rebecca and vice versa.
Although Mashima said it’s in the ‘2nd half’ I don’t think it necessarily means the 2nd half is gonna be the same length as the 1st. I feel there is more stuff that we don’t know than what we already know. He also said he don’t know how long it will last for so it could turn out like shippuden. Who knows
The timeskip definitely came at a great time after Witch's death. The loss of the parental figure forced the crew to grow and mature. It required cast members to take on new roles to fill the void and change/develop as people because of it. While this could have been done slowly, I fully agree with you the pacing would have been killed. We spent a few chapters simply mourning Witch and that was more than I expected. EZ has some of the best pacing in manga I'm reading right now. Plus the sudden shift allows us to experience the blur of time the crew probably felt after losing Witch, resolving to face Ziggy, and now doing just that. You did a great job with this video as always. I am curious what drove you to make this video specifically. As far as I've seen the EZ community has been generally favorable with the timeskip. My only issue is a desire to know what might have happened during that time, but undoubtedly we will get some flashbacks. Were there people upset with the timeskip? Was it simply a narrative decision you found interesting and wanted to discuss?
That’s exactly it. It was simply done so well that I wanted to highlight exactly why it worked so well. Something I think people generally understand but hadn’t quite articulated in mainstream discussion just yet. And great point about the blur of time. Didn’t consider that myself but it’s so true.
I agree the timeskip 100% needed to happen. You can't have a major impactful such as Witch dying at the end of the arc to "Okay guys it's back to regularly scheduled programming of goofing off and looking for relics." At the the end of Aoi Ziggy was the top priority and i love how Hiro handled it. Everything that the crew have been doing in those 3 years has been a direct counter to Ziggy. I mean logically the only thing to do was to go after him. I suppose one could say, as it was mentioned in the video, that we could have got training done and some more character interactions. In my opinion the time skip was more meaningful and impactful as it was directly after the passing of Witch. Shiki had just steered his resolve, finally understanding that Ziggy wasn't the same loving machine he knew. His words to the crew about wanting to save the universe and protect people also added more impact to the timeskip as we see our boy taking the first steps to becoming a leader. Doing a bunch of nonsense after that and then potentially following up with a timeskip would be... Anticlimactic. Atleast to me. Hiro still has plenty of time to develop the crew and have meaningful interactions between them.
Agreed. The thing about Ziggy (one of the things that makes him a great villain) is that he's way too active of a villain. From the second he got revived he was planning, setting up encounters, and personally going to his objective to get shit done. He doesn't allow the protagonist to ignore him as he's always making his next move for his grand plan. Ziggy has much buildup and after killing Witch of course the crew would focus on him only which is why they stopped looking for relics and searching for Mother as he's that much of a threat. They literally saved 17 planets due to his terrorism and is part of why the IUA are focusing on Shiki too as he also grew in power to match Ziggy. And the best thing is that Mashima had planned all of this to happen and isn't ending it soon so the story isn't rushing to its end either. It's also a believable way of the passage of time in-universe as both the villain and the crew were actively busy training, helping planets, their actions having consequences, and proves that not every big event happens in the same year as time had to pass on without any huge event immediately after the Aoi war.
Great Vid Man and I personally think it was a great decision to have a timeskip at that point in the story I’d give the timeskip maybe a 7 or 8 out of 10 (Hoping we get some more power up’s, designs, and characters reflecting on what happened during the timeskip more.
7:49 Ah yes, the BEST power Shiki could develop, to be able to big brain and use his thinking thoughts to be able to be 10 million percent sure about something. In all seriously, I want to see more Satan Gravity techniques, I have hope Mashima will deliver.
I agree with the timeskip, I hope also in some chapters once Ziggy and others are dealt with, We get at least a small glimpse of flashback during the aftermaths of the Aoi Cosmos before it leaded to the timeskip, It doesn't have to be a whole bunch but just some small parts, Idk if it happened once with Rave Master, But with Fairy tail, There was some flashbacks of the past that it revealed like the past between Alzack and Bisca when they were married or even when they had to sell a precious item for the both of them to get enough money to cure their sick daughter before she managed to bring it back with Natsu and Lucy's help or even how Erza and Bisca first met when Bisca was pretending to be some Fairy tail member causing the trouble before she eventually becamed an official member and stuffs. What i wanna see is the progress of their trainings with Xenolith and Xenolith's origins when he used to be human and other stuffs.
@@ShonenOuji Plus with the timeskip, A lot of things can happen to some other fallen villains who aren't dead to see what becamed of them, Like maybe Kurenai, The former Oceans, Drakken's henchmen and himself and more even though some may not play any bigger roles further in the story.
@@ShonenOuji Me too, Cause speaking of Drakken again, Just as Ironnancy see the return of him in the future, It's been quite almost 100 chapters and 2 years since the Belial Gore Arc and his defeat and it should be a good opportunity to bring him back just so we can explore more about his new goal and how he'll start since he lost everything he had along with his ship, Including the mass of his abilities with his Alchemy to see the full potential of his strength, Not to mention the fact Laguna revealed to the EZ crew about Drakken's strength and all.
I'm ok with all the crew memebers, even in short little moments we are shown their character and I can see how the relations dveloped back stage during those three yeras. The only characters I'm like "Why are they even here?" is Couchpo and more recently Labilia... They add literally nothing to the story or the crew. They are just like there... I don't get them being part of the crew, seriousley. If we didn't have them we could show more of the others.
Couchpo just seems to be their as comic relief. Labilia I think has more in store for us. Plus, she’s already benefitted Rebecca’s character by showing how patient and understanding Rebecca can be.
@@ShonenOuji But wasn't Rebecca's patience and understanding already a Character Trait? Idk, for me Labilia didn't add anything. And we have literally everyone as a comic relife too. All the characters can be Serious or Funny when the story needs it. Couchpo is still unnecesary. But anyhow, that's just my opinion u.u
The timeskip needed to happen...after major events like Ziggy coming back evil and Witch's death characters shouldn't go back to their daily plans to defeat Ziggy they need to develop strength wise and emotionally like Shiki did. It would've been taken away Witch's death impact
Zo did Witch come back alive again or what?. What does Remake of story meant? Do they go back to the past like all the wars didn't happen or what?. Some said they go back to the past, but you said timeskip after witch's deadth. Still confused here
I just never understood the reason why it had to be 3 years. He could have written the time skip as 2 years and things would be basically the same, but 3 feels like an unnecessary exaggeration.
I don't understand how 3 years seems like an unnecessary exaggeration while 2 seems fine. An exaggeration would be 5 to 10 years. 3 years seems perfectly reasonable as it would allow the crew the grow and mature accordingly both mentally and physically.
How would you rate the timeskip? Do you think Mashima could have done something different?
We have the same issue about interaction. I can't feel the character, especially the shipping Shiki and Rebecca compare to Natsu and Lucy who was more interaction.
