I would say Yes. Eden's Zero is better written on overall in terms of plot, however Fairy Tail does characters far better. But I also have to say the quality difference isn't that drastic between the 2 stories. Fairy tail wasn't that bad as the Internet groomed many people to believe. If I have to give a rating I would rate both still around 7.5 to 8 at maximum.
No. Fairy Tail was that bad. Only the less intelligent would say otherwise (sorry if that sounds like an insult). I watched it and it took me years of maturity and understanding to suddenly realize how bad it is. It's amateurish. Extremely low quality story and characters and tropes. The entire show is an excuse for...other things. And I don't just mean the sexuak.
@@TranscendentalMindX you clearly didn't mature enough. Also just because you say you watched something doesn't mean we have to believe that you actually did. FT is the 30th best selling manga of all time, with a sequels, and multiple spin offs. And that's enough proof that it's not bad.
EZ definitely takes it when you're talking about the more cohesive and well written story, but FT characters stand out more and have a lot more impactful character moments. But to be fair, FT is a longer series and you had more time to spend with the characters
They did have some explanations for the things that you mentioned Natsu ate Laxus' lightning to get Lightning Flame Dragon which was foreshadowed that he can after they gfot back from the Tower of Heaven and because elements of dragon slayers with lacrimas are shown to be to consumed even by slayers with different elements. He also beat Bluenote after a long timeskip where he just trained for an entire year nonstop, and the story did have a good explanation about the dragon soul technique and the 400 year time travel. Wouldnt say any of these moments are criticized at all.
Ft has better characters not by far but I will say due to how much free time we get with the characters & their interactions I think that makes it easier for FT. We still get good character interaction in EZ but it still seems sometimes like jinn, kleene & Laguna are their own separate team, I need to see them interact more with the main crew, they do have their moments tho. I just want more. Seems like this arc will probably do that though The plot is more thought out with EZ I hope Mashima doesn’t end it quicker than Expected, I need at least 340 chapters from that bitch & 100 yr quest it seems more planned out than regular ft perhaps since it’s every 2 weeks & he’s not drawing it
FT 100 years quest is more planned and he said the stroy boarding for it was already underway right after the OG FT ended also mashima always like 4-5 chapters ahead in his manga like right EZ is currently on its chapter 224 but probably mashima was already on chapter 229 same for 100 years quest it's currently on chapter 125 but ofcourse mashima was already on chapter 130 or something
I’d definetly say that Eden zero is better in a lot of aspects and I would definetly say that the characters would’ve been top tier if we saw more interactions between them but u can’t rlly blame mashima bc it isn’t as long, but the Eden zero cast still have good dynamics and at least in edens zero, each arc every character has a significant role unlike fairytail where things happen for no reason for example Lisanna coming back alive. I also think that edens zero and fairytail have the same amount of dark and gruesome content but edens zero presents it a lot better and Edens zero shows real consequences and sacrifices, for example SPOILER (witch’s death), im not trying to diss fairytail but even nostalgia can’t confuse me because the amount of wasted character potential in fairy tail. Overral, I think that edens zero is better because it is more thought out
Edens Zero is great, and it's clear that Hiro Mashima put a lot of effort and focus into the story and its direction. All of the main characters have a purpose of some kind, as opposed to some characters just being around in Fairy tail. That being said I still like Fairy tail more so far, I find the characters, adventures, and interactions way more entertaining and interesting even though it can be random and seemingly unplanned at times. The biggest advantage FT has to me is the main characters since aside from Rebbeca, Shiki, Homura Weisz and the shinning stars I don't find the newer shipmates interesting they feel more like extras than members and not having time with them before the timeskip definitely didn't help despite already knowing there story, those moments were it feels like nothing is happening in FT tend to at least give us character interactions of all kind which is something I think is lacking with the new crew members, so although I think the plot is solid and more focused in EZ I enjoy FT more for the characters and individual stories for side characters
I love FairyTail for the characters but like Edens Zero since it’s well written. When it comes to plot vs character I would most likely chose character for the fact that you can have the most basic plot of the story but if you have really good characters then it can sell the story (eg. Kaguya Sama love is war is about two people wanting to confess but don’t want to admit it. Basic plot but characters are what sell it) I think there needs to be a balance though. While I love character driven stories since they tend to be more memorable than plot driven ones. In the case of FairyTail there are certain things I just wished for it to deliver and it didn’t. The E.N.D. plot line was the plot line that had me most intrigued but lacked execution. A plot line which Edens Zero would most likely do better. From the looks of 100 years quest, the author might go back to the E.N.D. plot line and flesh it out more. And hopefully so, since that’s the reason i’m still reading
Eden's zero was more planned but ofcourse there's still some part of the story is not planned like mashima just add it right on the spot for example the thing about Cure he said he thinks of it right on the spot xd also the last arc seems rush especially the thing happen on Acnoella etc. on the other side FT was planned only at the beginning but because of the popularity and ofcourse he said he also enjoy drawing FT he continues to write FT until it became one of the most hated and most successful manga out there currently having 72 million sales as of 2020 not including the sales of FT 100 years quest also for the past 16 years Fairy tails achievement is just on another level to the point it's hard for EZ to surpass it , not to mention FT kinda rival the big 3 back then when all of them still airing at the same time but mashima failed to maintain the hype of FT and for that reason it didn't manage to keep up with the big 3 but now mashima still has the chance to bring back FT on the spotlight especially when the anime comes back so for me I'd say EZ is a little bit better and more consistent since it's more planned as for FT I prefer the manga over the anime the manga has a nice pacing and artstyle also FT has Tartaros arc ,Tenrou Island arc , Phantom lord arc , Tower of Heaven arc ,GMG arc etc. so how can you hate this series not to mention Mashima writes FT in a freestyle way and he still manage to create foreshadowings and plot twist's 🔥 imagine it's freestyle but he did manage to connect all of it until the end so props for mashima another topic mashima said EZ will be longer than Rave and shorter than FT so I think it will end around 340+ chapters and for FT 100 years quest he said they have idea for where the story goes but he didn't plan the ending yet and he never mention anything about how long it's gonna be he said it might depends on the air but as we all know FT 100 years quest is doing good compared to EZ he also mention he might leave everything to Ueda in the future since he's becoming more busy this days but Ueda replied he still want Mashima to write the story but who knows maybe in the future Ueda will now become the new author of FT and as I can see Ueda loves to draw combat battle's as he said he loves drawing the Nebal vs Wendy so if somehow he's now the one handling FT we might get more awesome fights or maybe longer fights I'm just afraid about the story since Ueda doesn't have any experience on writing a manga ,since all he did was to draw but who knows he might also have a talent on doing some good storyline anyway I'm just waiting for the anime of FT 100 years quest since it's the big chance for FT to come back on the spotlight as for EZ season 2 I already have an idea that it will be overshadowed by other anime's since so many popular anime will also air on April like for example Demon slayer etc. but I hope it still gets some loves from the fans and atleast it should help the manga sales since it keep decreasing which is sad too see
Most fair assessment coming from u. I am actually surprised. I didn't expect this. I actually agree. Sales wise FT and FT 100 YQ outdid EZ in spades and its not even funny.
As someone who hasn't watched fairytale but has heard of it, i was abit skeptical at first when i first saw edens zero but after a couple of episodes i started investing more into it, shiki wanting to make friends by using robot logic is pretty funny especially when he gets surprised that there's people like him in other planets, the world in the show is pretty huge and mysterious at the same time, alot of planets are pretty good looking and it goes to show you how cool mashima is.
As a fan of Mashima's works since like 2010, I would say I prefer Edens Zero. I still like Fairy Tail (former fan here), have great memories of it, nostalgia, and I like the world of FT. Was a fan of it from 2011 until the end of the manga (not counting 100YQ here, which I still read from time to time). It's just not my favourite or something now, just one of the works I kind of like. Fairy Tail characters are really good, you can like them and all, the fights are also good, but besides that, Edens Zero is more solid, atleast to me. And that counts a lot. . **POSSIBLE SPOILERS IF YOU DON'T READ EDENS ZERO AND DIDN'T FINISH FAIRY TAIL** Plot, power scale is more consistent, we don't have Shiki alone defeating someone that was supposed to be a lot stronger than him (Zero for example). The characters are more "used" as said in the video (less characters to use), although not necessarily that much developed. The story is more planned, and there are stakes that won't be solved with fake deaths or just turning back in time (like with Witch, Creed, Jaguar, etc) or something. Something like that just happens when they go to another Universe. While Ultear went back in time only 1 minute, and for convenience, all that characters died in that 1 minute. Gajeel was *already being* disintegrated and we thought he was gonna die, when Irene messed up the space and miraculously his body was completely normal. Makarov almost died 3 times (Aria, Hades, Acnologia), and when he finally died, he was resurrected in a rather... simplistic way? I could mention several other cases that prevented that feeling of the stakes being real there. While in Edens Zero I still feel there are stakes.
I could say that I can like Fairy Tail for: - Nostalgia, but also for the universe of the work (I really like the architecture with that "medieval"/RPG style, and there are a lot of cool places) - The characters, including some designs - Maybe some powers (I really like Sting's Hakuryuu magic for example) - Some good and epic fights, etc. - Some epic moments that I still remember. While with Edens Zero: - I like the universe (there are very varied planets, for example Mildian, Foresta, Brown Sea, Mud Roll, Red Cave, etc). - I like the characters. - I like how the work is more planned. - How the power scale is more consistent - I like the concept of Ether Gear (a little less "generic" than pure magic, although Fairy Tail's magic is ok too), etc. - Although fights are shorter, there are still good and cool fights too. - Feeling of real stakes. Overall, I prefer Edens Zero. But still have fondness for Fairy Tail. For a work that wasn't so planned, Hiro managed to create a lot of cool stuff.
I think of fairy tail as more slice of life or like some of those XMen shows where the point is more about the characters living and interacting in this interesting world more than a big goal we’re working towards in the end.
As a fan of both even Rave Master I would say Fairy Tail is batter in my opinion because I like the magic aspect over Sci fi aspect and the characters development is much batter with some characters like Erza ,Gray,Wendy and Lucy than EZ main cast because of time travel aspect👀but other than that Shiki has much more going for him as a main character just like Haru Glory from Rave more than Natsu IN MY OPINION 👀Because sometimes other characters gets more shine than Natsu But I like to see Natsu's fight more than Shiki because Fire power is just more cooler to me🔥Natsu is also very special because we never saw his full dragon power or his demon side because it happens just like once in a blue moon type of situation where Shiki just use Overdrive like a Super Saiyan transformation everytime 😩Thats just me on that take 😅Also the fans are so connected to every FT members that even If any FT character from guild dies like Erza or Gray it will broke twitter and other social media and Hiro Mashima will get forced by fans to bring him or her back to life if not then Hiro might get death threats from his fans💯Or fans will quite Fairy Tail forever😶Thats also goes for EZ but not in the same level as FT👀Edens Zero is much more like Radiant where theres a set goal from the start just like Seth wants to find the Radiant and in his journey he assemble his crew one by one just like Shiki👀or even Luffy from OP in some aspects but Shiki isn't as dumb as Luffy✨
Its funny because as a fan of both series, Im FT>EZ and Rebecca & Shiki > Natsu & Lucy. I like the themes and character interactions in FT more than EZ.
I'm currently rewatching the first part of Edens Zero in preparation for the next part, and have to say: it's great, like really great! I can't say much for Fairy Tail cause I couldn't get into it, ironic since I've known about it & it's popularity for years. From what I've gathered from recent reevaluations of it, it's good, just not amazing. Both EZ & FT shouldn't get too much flak for their first couple of arcs being slow/boring, cause that's how a lot of Shonen begin like. I will say that EZ actually got me hooked by the first episode, which to me, is impressive. What makes it more nuanced is the world-building. The concepts, terms, and beings of that universe is easy to understand and something they can explain in like a minute, unlike some Shonen that would do it like three times. Ether might be one the best concepts I've heard in an anime. The setting being a science-fantasy (a vastly underused genre in Japanese media) is a bonus as well. The characters not being as good as FT is more of a fault of EZ succeeding one of the world's most popular anime/manga series. For the main cast of EZ is, they're pretty good. Shiki's character development, Rebecca's plot relevance, and Wise's character arc. My verdict: Edens Zero IS better than Fairy Tail. Sure, FT got EZ beat with memorable characters and moments, but EZ is just so tightly written and has great world-building, I can't help but love it more. I'll say it: it's better than HunterxHunter, come at me haters.
Cant compare edens zero as i havent seen it but generally i think better characters pretty much always edges out plot. You can have the tightest written plot if im not invested in your characters im just not gonna care much. Thats not to say plot isnt very important too but like theyre are multiple genres with many good shows that have barely if any plot while i cant think of anyshow that id rate highly that i could same about the character quality
In terms of characters/character growth. Sure. FT is over a decade old, Hiro Mashima had a lot of time to build on the characters and the world itself. The same can't be said for EZ. We're a little over 200 chapters in and are already in the final arc. FT has over 600 chapters currently including 100 years quest. Plot wise? Absolutely not. Edens Zero has the superior story by far. It's darker, more mysterious, more entertaining. FT is light hearted/child friendly. It's known world wide and has millions of fans. EZ is in a very small niche community. By that logic you could say FT is better than EZ but even with that i enjoy EZ much more. Saying all that though, currently, right now, my interest in both is incredibly low. Hiro's done things that i don't particularly like and it's killed my interest.
@ShonenOuji ive been watching non stop after i heard the Radman podcast. I got into anime With NO KNOWLEDGE of anitube. Once i saw the MASSIGE hate on Bleach and Fairy tale. It made me confused to no end. Bleach is the big three and Fairy tale having so much content. Those who cant teach, become gym coach.those who cant coach hate"
I like both Edens Zero and Fairy Tail, I think both are good and I don’t think is better than the other. Also I agree that Edens Zero has a better plot but Fairy Tail does better with character development and emotional moments. Also I think the villains in Fairy Tail are better than the villains in Edens Zero expect for Drakken Joe and Ziggy the rest are not as good as them. I say that because the villains in Fairy Tail are better because they have more impact on some of the characters and are more memorable. Also I think side characters are handled better in Fairy Tail than in Edens Zero, because the side characters had moments to shine be just as memorable as the main cast but in Edens Zero most of the side characters have not as much moments in some arcs compared to when they debuted. Overall I think both series are good and have there positives and negatives and I would rate them both with an 8 or at best a 7.5
Coming from the nostalgia angle I sometimes feel like it also has to do with what you first watched/read. With me that will always be Rave Master! It has a special place in my heart because it was the first series I read. I do also love Fairy Tail because of how light it is but I’m a big fan of Eden’s zero being darker like Rave. With all that said I can’t pick which one is better yet since it all depends on how it ends for me. So far Rave Master is still better then Fairy Tail. The ending of Rave was just so well done. Plot is very important for me!
I wouldn't even say that fairy tail has better characters. The Edens Zero characters are actually pretty solid, with backstories and, more importantly, character development. If I look at fairy tail, my favourite arcs and characters are the ones where we got character development - but as we ceased to get it, the quality went down too. As an example: I absolutely love the Tower of Heaven Arc because it is where we get Erza's backstory which opens a lot of questions about Jellal. We also get character development for her as she starts to let down her guard around her friends and takes the big step to trade armour for more power, which aligns with the "letting down her fences" part. We also get Dragon Force from Natsu for the first time and get a glimpse at his potential - and we had a pretty logical solution to the fight with that. Jellal is one of my favourite characters because he actually has the most character development. He goes from a kind kid to an evil lunatic, to a person who is full of fear due to memory loss, but has regained some of the kindness from his youth, then the very depressed and regretful Jellal who has remembered and has trouble dealing with his crimes and how he moves foreward from there. And while we don't get much character development from Erza beyond maybe tenrou island, she is tied to Jellal and his development which kept them interesting the whole time. Other characters, however, lacked character development to very large extents. They have events happening to them, they react with hurt or anger, and they overcome them. But their character don't really change, they don't really evolve or learn new things. I'd say Gray has some okay development, but he constantly falls back into the "Imma sacrifice myself through Iced Shell"-thing. The demon slayer stuff was a chance for character development, but it was hardly even an issue. In all those aspects, Edens Zero is actually doing a far better job. The characters develop, they learn, they change. It is very visible just in the way they join the crew: Hardly any of them joins because they want to be friends. They all have individual goals which they want to achieve. That obviously makes them feel a bit less like a harmonious group of great friends, but it actually grants them greater character development. Though I gotta say, after the time skip, it felt like Jin and Kleene's character development was put to an end. Laguna a little bit too. As they achieved their goals before the time skip, it kind of seems like they're just there for the fun of it. It hasn't really been explored why they decided to stay, their dynamics with other crew members don't get explored in greater detail. These kind of dynamics are what Fairy Tail did really great. It found amazing ways to connect characters, the banter all of them constantly had made for great dynamics, great fun situations etc. By taking then plot a little easier and giving more room to that, Mashima created a very believable and lovely group of friends and guild members. It wasn't that the characters were better, their dynamics were just more at the forefront of the story in Fairy Tail. For Edens Zero that would make an easy fix: As we're going through the same arcs again, Mashima could take a little time in between the arcs to further explore how exactly the crew members get along with each other. Mix them a bit, have them do things in different constellations etc. And give new goals where they already have been resolved. The "recap" actually has the advantage of showing us how close those characters have gotten, as we get to see their reunions. So, the Edens Zero plot is clever in many ways. But, the Edens Zero plot also has one (or more) specific problem: It repeats. Of course not 100%, but as Mashima is writing/drawing the Manga, he knows that he has to go through this story, just to reach the plot point where they get to Universe Zero and kinda back in time, so he can write the story again but with certain changes. This can easily give the feeling of "Let's get through this so we can get to the actual plot that matters". Obviously, the plot until the universe jump was important, in many, many ways, but it was still rather a stepping stone to get to the greater and more important part: the part where they actually start changing the course of their stories. We still need to see, how much the characters have stayed the same, how they change as their old-selves and their universe zero selves merge. So we might feel a lot more unstable with these characters. And that's another point: Fairy Tail was fairly stable. You had these characters which were lovely, but you mostly knew what to expect from them. Things didn't get as much disrupted - which also might come from Fairy Tail being a reactive plotline, rather than active. As it is such a stable world, it is very easy to go into any point of the story and reminisce about it or add filler arcs. You can make up as many head canons and fanfictions as you like as the plot is not very tight in pacing and the characters barely change. It is a more episodic style. Edens Zero is very tightly knit together, after just a few episodes your left with quite some change in setting and characters. The episodes often really drive the plot forward and there's not much to pause. The world is designed to be pretty unstable with all the universes and time jumps, worlds and cosmoses. Where Fairy Tail has the guild hall to always come back to, Edens Zero is always moving. The ship seems less of a home and more to be a tool. A lot of aspects in Edens Zero are a lot more purposeful and intentional. If you'd take something out or change something, you can't really tell where that'd get you. So, after this long rant: I believe a lot about Fairy Tail nostalgia comes from the stability the story offered, together with the guild being a home which one can dream themselves into. Edens Zero is a lot more unstable und purposeful, which makes for a great plot, but less a great world for your imagination to roam free.
I Love both EZ & FT but I Love Eden's Zero more. Mostly cuz it has a well written Story line and Great Characters too, the only sad thing is that side characters like Jinn, Klenne, and Laguna needs more screentime and backstory. But at least Shiki, Rebecca, Weisz, and Homura has a Great backstory story and we probably get so see more of Shiki later in the Manga so we could know what is his origin and who were his family. Also the 4 Shining Stars stories are also having there own backstories with the 4 Dark Stars. As for Fairy Tail it also have Great Characters and Awesome Powers I mean c'mon you can't beat Magic
I watched Rave in my teens. Loved it even though it was a bit dark. Haru with the Ten Commandments sword was lit! Then I watched Fairy Tale in my 20s. I loved the family and action concept of it. And that soundtrack was great! Now I watched Eden's Zero in my 30s. It's a good mix with humour and dark moments. It's much more realistic, especially when Shiki lost to Draken. Overall, i think Edens Zero is the best. But, they're all good.
plot wise, i like edens zero better because it's better pased, the story is more intriguing and the world building is so much better. However character wise i like fairy tail better because you're more drawn to the characters in fairy tail than in edens zero and almost every single character in fairy tail has an amazing and intriguing back story that mashima applied into some arcs of the storyline extremely well, and i just feel like mashima didn't really do as much with the side characters of edens zero than he did with the ones of fairy tail because now edens zero is mostly the Rebecca, Shiki, Weisz, and Homura show. Kleene Jin, Laguna, sister, and Hermit just seem to be more in the background now. But that's just my take on it.
I still like Fairy Tail more because of the characters, the guild, music, there is romance, more balance between male and females. And I like adventure but I also like coming back home. Eden Zero is like One Piece in the sense that you never come back home. You home is mobile.
I feel like technically speaking Eden's zero's better but I feel like i enjoyed watching fairy tail a lot more and I'm a lot more attached to the show. Maybe it's the characters themselves that are better? I feel like fairy tail is more appealing overall, despite the story plot lacking compared to Eden zero.
I take it you aren’t caught up with the manga then? I would definitely recommend it, at least after season 2. Because it really gets wild from pretty much the point the first season of the anime ended. Like you are genuinely not ready for it. As a fan of both FT and EZ (as well as Mashima’s first work Rave Master), even with FT being my comfort anime, I can honestly say Edens Zero is just objectively better than Fairy Tail, at least from a writing perspective. Hiro Mashima has improved so much as both a writer and artist and it would be a disservice to him not to acknowledge that. EZ is genuinely my favourite manga to read week to week (and just overall really) and even though I don’t read as much manga as a lot of other people that’s a pretty big feat. It’s not fair to put up just the first season of EZ up against the entirety of FT (or at least the original series). Because while it’s good, it’s only a small part of the story and it gets much better the further in you get so of course FT would win out over it in that case. But their full stories (so far)? Without a doubt definitely Edens Zero both for me personally and from a neutral perspective (though Fairy Tail is still VERY near and dear to my heart). I’d say EZ is arguably Mashima’s best work yet
@@IceFox606 Almost the same as I think. Edens Zero is my favourite Mashima work. Some years ago (2010-2016 or so), it was Fairy Tail. So, like you, I still have some fondness for it. I still read 100YQ from time to time, but now it's not my favourite or something. Although I was a fan, I was aware of it's ups and downs, and there were certain things I saw as "issues". Edens Zero fixed many of these "issues", and is a more planned work. In addition to several other points that make me like this work, but these I have already mentioned in another comment.
Hands down FT is way better in my opinion from the characters to the powers. Plot wise I'd give it to EZ cause FT felt kinda random vs EZ. However, you have to admit thst when natsu used fire lighting dragon roar it was really cool. I can't forget when gajeel used steel shadow dragon roar, it was the most hyped moment for me
Personally, I would say no. As much as I like fairytail, I have to say that a well written story has better characters. Maybe fairytail characters have a charm to them or have a sad backstory, but edens zero characters are a lot more used in the story and have an actual purpose. I won’t deny that Mashima tends to side track them in the next arc but nevertheless they do still have their moments to shine. For example, SPOILERS. witch’s sacrifice was even more significant because of the amount of interactions and the relationship she had within the cast, it really showed Mashima’s growth as a writer for killing off a character to show that you should treasure your friends and to show the readers that this is different from fairytail. It made the edens zero characters feel even more human for showing that you can loose people that you love but you have to overcome it. I also like how dark edens zero is, compared to fairy tail. Making shiki and his crew actually go through defeat during the drakken joe arc was very refreshing and good development for rebecca compared to fairy tail that win every arc.
I like Edens zero cus it's just executes it's plot better it's better defined and it is more enjoyable to the overall manga fan but no hate to fairy tail it is good somehow but Edens zero is still better
Honestly comparing them is like apple and oranges. Fairy tail feels more like a slice of life mixed with shonen a perfect comfort anime. While, Eden zero is a shonen anime with a straightforward dark and mature storyline
Fairy tail is more light hearted and happy, but Edens zero is more serious and bloody, Shiki got shot in the head for gods sake, we also have heavily abused characters in prison cells, Rebecca’s legs being ruined, a lot more blood too, not just scuff marks. Over all Edens zero is better if you want a serious dark shorter fairy tail
For me Fairy Tail became worse after Tenrou Island Arc. I like the World and characters from Fairy Tail more than Edens Zero but Story telling, character envolvement and world building is in Edens Zero much better imo.
I like Edens zero's villains better than fairy tail but fairy tail's characters are better than Edens zero. I also like Edens zero's universe better because it's so unique and you don't really see it in anime
I still prefer Fairy Tail, and yeah I’d say it’s mainly because of the characters. I still think Edens Zero is great in it’s own right. What I’m about to say has nothing to do with my own opinions on FT or EZ, but just my own general opinions/preferences on storytelling I’d rather watch a show that has S tier characters with a C tier plot, than watch a show that has an S tier plot with C tier characters. Personally if I can’t connect with, invest, or find a reason to care about the characters in a story, then it ultimately won’t matter how masterfully written the plot is.
The overall guild is better but shiki, Rebecca & hermit are superior to the fairy tails core characters. Edens zero has the better Villains. They have depth outside of FT. The Seis, Zeref & Irene got the best development
20 episodes you get bored of then one scene that makes like it” yel thats why i keep taking breaks from fairy tail ill watch it then a ark will make me want skio and i cant bring myself do it so i watch bit then leave the series for a year or longer to watch qnything else then come back and suffer through that arc
I mean I think that Edens Zero is just better overall however I like Fairy Tail more since it's got a special place in my heart and I felt a more personal connection with the characters and their journey.
I mean mashima did plan out everything for ez but the making up stuff was what made his work better like we know what's gonna happen in ez at this point but in ft we all had those goosebumps cause we didn't know what would happen like Nun is better than the original
Me personally I like Edens Zero cause it's a sci fi anime and I know they have had some good ones in the past like Space Dandy and Cowboy Bebop but now it feels like it's all about Fantasy and Mages not that I mind any of those but I just like the change of pace they have here I mean who doesn't like space adventures?
I would say Yes. Eden's Zero is better written on overall in terms of plot, however Fairy Tail does characters far better. But I also have to say the quality difference isn't that drastic between the 2 stories. Fairy tail wasn't that bad as the Internet groomed many people to believe. If I have to give a rating I would rate both still around 7.5 to 8 at maximum.
I think that's pretty fair. I love Edens Zero characters but there aren't as many peak character moments like in Fairy Tail.
@@ShonenOuji True.

EZ definitely takes it when you're talking about the more cohesive and well written story, but FT characters stand out more and have a lot more impactful character moments. But to be fair, FT is a longer series and you had more time to spend with the characters
Fairy Tail is 100% more emotional and all the characters are so well done.
In Edens Zero Mashima keeps killing all the side characters
They did have some explanations for the things that you mentioned
Natsu ate Laxus' lightning to get Lightning Flame Dragon which was foreshadowed that he can after they gfot back from the Tower of Heaven and because elements of dragon slayers with lacrimas are shown to be to consumed even by slayers with different elements.
Seems like this arc will probably do that though
The plot is more thought out with EZ I hope Mashima doesn’t end it quicker than Expected, I need at least 340 chapters from that bitch & 100 yr quest it seems more planned out than regular ft perhaps since it’s every 2 weeks & he’s not drawing it
If I had to guess I’d say it’ll probably be more like 300 chapters. At least right now.
I heavily agree that FT characters have more charm than EZ characters
How would you compare Edens Zero and Fairy Tail? (Also, Axel's channel name should be "Axel Beats" on the end screen. Sorry for any confusion.)
Axeal Beats
@@AxelBeats We were trying to be different…
Basic plot but characters are what sell it)
I think there needs to be a balance though.
Eden's zero was more planned but ofcourse there's still some part of the story is not planned like mashima just add it right on the spot for example the thing about Cure he said he thinks of it right on the spot xd also the last arc seems rush especially the thing happen on Acnoella etc.
on the other side FT was planned only at the beginning but because of the popularity and ofcourse he said he also enjoy drawing FT he continues to write FT until it became one of the most hated and most successful manga out there currently having 72 million sales as of 2020 not including the sales of FT 100 years quest also for the past 16 years Fairy tails achievement is just on another level to the point it's hard for EZ to surpass it , not to mention FT kinda rival the big 3 back then when all of them still airing at the same time but mashima failed to maintain the hype of FT and for that reason it didn't manage to keep up with the big 3 but now mashima still has the chance to bring back FT on the spotlight especially when the anime comes back
so for me I'd say EZ is a little bit better and more consistent since it's more planned
as for FT I prefer the manga over the anime the manga has a nice pacing and artstyle also FT has Tartaros arc ,Tenrou Island arc , Phantom lord arc , Tower of Heaven arc ,GMG arc etc. so how can you hate this series not to mention Mashima writes FT in a freestyle way and he still manage to create foreshadowings and plot twist's 🔥 imagine it's freestyle but he did manage to connect all of it until the end so props for mashima
another topic mashima said EZ will be longer than Rave and shorter than FT so I think it will end around 340+ chapters
and for FT 100 years quest he said they have idea for where the story goes but he didn't plan the ending yet and he never mention anything about how long it's gonna be he said it might depends on the air but as we all know FT 100 years quest is doing good compared to EZ
he also mention he might leave everything to Ueda in the future since he's becoming more busy this days but Ueda replied he still want Mashima to write the story but who knows maybe in the future Ueda will now become the new author of FT and as I can see Ueda loves to draw combat battle's as he said he loves drawing the Nebal vs Wendy so if somehow he's now the one handling FT we might get more awesome fights or maybe longer fights I'm just afraid about the story since Ueda doesn't have any experience on writing a manga ,since all he did was to draw but who knows he might also have a talent on doing some good storyline
anyway I'm just waiting for the anime of FT 100 years quest since it's the big chance for FT to come back on the spotlight as for EZ season 2 I already have an idea that it will be overshadowed by other anime's since so many popular anime will also air on April like for example Demon slayer etc. but I hope it still gets some loves from the fans and atleast it should help the manga sales since it keep decreasing which is sad too see
Most fair assessment coming from u. I am actually surprised. I didn't expect this. I actually agree. Sales wise FT and FT 100 YQ outdid EZ in spades and its not even funny.
I like the characters, fights and emotional moments in FT more but I think EZ does everything else better
As someone who hasn't watched fairytale but has heard of it, i was abit skeptical at first when i first saw edens zero but after a couple of episodes i started investing more into it, shiki wanting to make friends by using robot logic is pretty funny especially when he gets surprised that there's people like him in other planets, the world in the show is pretty huge and mysterious at the same time, alot of planets are pretty good looking and it goes to show you how cool mashima is.
anyway we will have a Fairy Tail x Edens Zero OVA 😁
Thanks for having me on amigo, was a very fun discussion!
Thanks again for joining me! Glad I could get you onto Edens Zero.
And that counts a lot.
.
**POSSIBLE SPOILERS IF YOU DON'T READ EDENS ZERO AND DIDN'T FINISH FAIRY TAIL**
Plot, power scale is more consistent, we don't have Shiki alone defeating someone that was supposed to be a lot stronger than him (Zero for example).
I could say that I can like Fairy Tail for:
- Nostalgia, but also for the universe of the work (I really like the architecture with that "medieval"/RPG style, and there are a lot of cool places)
- The characters, including some designs
- Maybe some powers (I really like Sting's Hakuryuu magic for example)
- Some good and epic fights, etc.
- Some epic moments that I still remember.
While with Edens Zero:
- I like the universe (there are very varied planets, for example Mildian, Foresta, Brown Sea, Mud Roll, Red Cave, etc).
- I like the characters.
- I like how the work is more planned.
- How the power scale is more consistent
- I like the concept of Ether Gear (a little less "generic" than pure magic, although Fairy Tail's magic is ok too), etc.
Okay can we agree JUVIA is best WAIFU
Cant compare edens zero as i havent seen it but generally i think better characters pretty much always edges out plot. You can have the tightest written plot if im not invested in your characters im just not gonna care much. Thats not to say plot isnt very important too but like theyre are multiple genres with many good shows that have barely if any plot while i cant think of anyshow that id rate highly that i could same about the character quality
I just watched EP.1 😢😢😢😢😢😢
Once i saw the MASSIGE hate on
Bleach and Fairy tale.
Overall I think both series are good and have there positives and negatives and I would rate them both with an 8 or at best a 7.5
I definitely like EZ a bit more
What makes you say that?
@@ShonenOuji absolutely the plot and pacing
Coming from the nostalgia angle I sometimes feel like it also has to do with what you first watched/read. With me that will always be Rave Master! It has a special place in my heart because it was the first series I read. I do also love Fairy Tail because of how light it is but I’m a big fan of Eden’s zero being darker like Rave. With all that said I can’t pick which one is better yet since it all depends on how it ends for me. So far Rave Master is still better then Fairy Tail. The ending of Rave was just so well done. Plot is very important for me!
Up,exactly same thoughts... I read Rave as it was still ongoing and I will always love it way more than anything else from the author. Rave
4:14 Lucy: think, Natsu, think
But that's just my take on it.
hey its been a long time u have made a video on Dr. Stone s3 the trailer is also out.
Honestly, I’ve been waiting until the anime gets closer. I’m planning on at least on Dr. STONE video this month, then more of them to alongside S3.
@@ShonenOuji we all really need a Dr. Stone video ASAP 😅 btw still concerned about blondie Francois
@@ashishnanda9278 Why?
@@ShonenOuji because maximum people imagined Francois's hair to be brownish and also there are many blondes also considering America arc
@@ashishnanda9278 Fair enough. I personally like that Francois’s hair is blonde, but I see where everyone is coming from.
i could not get into Eden zero watched only a few eps then just never watch it again may try it again
Nah I still prefer fairy tail. Eden’s zero was fine when I saw season 1. But fairy tail is just on another level.
For me the most simple that i can explain is edens zero is better in term of story and fairy tail is better on the character
What I’m about to say has nothing to do with my own opinions on FT or EZ, but just my own general opinions/preferences on storytelling
I’d rather watch a show that has S tier characters with a C tier plot, than watch a show that has an S tier plot with C tier characters. Personally if I can’t connect with, invest, or find a reason to care about the characters in a story, then it ultimately won’t matter how masterfully written the plot is.
6K 1y 19K subs
I actualy think happy is more tragic in eden zeeo and is more usful less mas ot he literaly is rebecas weapon and is a sign of her care for her friend
Eden zero better than fairy tuil
Fairy Tail over Eden Stinks
Damn haha
Fairy Trash
@@yifengtoh7529 have u even read the manga?
Edens Zero is better
I mean I think that Edens Zero is just better overall however I like Fairy Tail more since it's got a special place in my heart and I felt a more personal connection with the characters and their journey.
I could never hate Fairy Tail for this reason. I just feel a certain connection to the characters.
