'Don't bet against the fat boy!' - Nikola Jokic on winning NBA Finals MVP & his appetite to win more

- I sat down with 2x league MVP and now 2023 NBA Finals MVP, Nikola Jokic, to ask him about what it feels like being an NBA champion, his relationship with his teammates and Coach Michael Malone, and, what's next for him after defeating the Miami Heat in Game 5 to win the 2023 NBA Finals.

The most nonchalant superstar I've ever seen. Makes the game look so easy
Definitely gives Tim Duncan a run for his money lol I respect it though
The majority of people of autonomous province Vojvodina(Voyvodeena) have that nonchalant style.
e.g. They speak the most slow Serbian lang.
@@sargusdubis1794one of his brothers is an outlier cause he looks very intense lol
@@Abulkhirat9that dude for sure on white powder... 😂
@@Abulkhirat9 Yes, his oldest brother is one of the exceptions. Sometimes Vojvodinians are under influence of other parts of Serbia where people are told through the media, literature, and school institutions that they are threatened by the western part of the world and that they should have a warlike and conquering spirit towards the surrounding countries.
In 2019, he had a problem with the law, because he was suspected of strangling and pushing a woman in an apartment. She called for help by using a computer to send a message, and the person she contacted called the authorities. Strahinja was charged with second-degree assault and eventually pleaded guilty to two counts and received a deferred sentence, meaning he will not face any punishment as long as he follows the rules of unsupervised probation.
So he doesn't know where his Finals MVP trophy is? Jesus, this guy is on another level.
😂😂😂
He was holding his little girl the whole time, trophy doesn't mean much, it's just symbolic, accomplishment is everything
@@galacticpixel6778 he also thinking about his horse lol
His coach was holding it most of the ceremony 😂
Sparky's got it. He'll deliver it to Sombor, Србија. 🏆

LEGEND HAHAHAHAHA
The fat white boy
Nikola is one of a kind. Man has the shooting of Larry Bird, the passing of Magic Johnson, and rebounding of Wilt Chamberlin, and the vertical of Phyllis from the Office.
Or Mrs. Phyllis my 65 year old 4th grade teacher?
Lol…good one
He actually has the passing of Larry Bird more than Magic Johnson. Go watch Larry Bird highlights
a higher 3pt % than curry too
@@chickhearn4ever779 I hate people like you who take things too literally.
Nikola is just one of a kind
Humble, respectful, genuinely honest family man, who plays for his teammates first.
It’s refreshing.
Narr prolly just not American
@@nagisakowrau Ya he's pretty chill coming from a country that the US bombed in 1999 because they were genociding their neighbors.
now you know a bit more about Serbians ... deeply decent family oriented people
@@lightintheshadows2023 I can honestly say that every Serb that I've ever met was chill and fun to be around. Also very good family people which is the part I respect the most about them. Being Albanian/American has never been an issue either.
Bro lost the finals MVP trophy I’m dead
He really don’t care about the accolades 😂😂
But I can guarantee 100% he knows where he put his horse hair brush last year.
😂🤣🤣
😂😂😂
@@dinchy12bro can even tell the serial number of that brush 😂😂
Jokic is a paradigm of what to be in your life. Humble, grounded, not flexing and showing off, with values, not talking much.
The absolute opposite of Ja and his Grizzlies.
Now is time to rest and enjoy his family and horses. ALL WELL DONE NIKOLA!!!!
LOVE AND RESPECT FROM YOUR BROS IN GREECE!!!
American sports is all me me me!!!
Nah. People should be whatever they want to be.
Spot on!
That statement is a slippery slope, therefore certainly not true.
İt is no time to go home. First he has to attend to a PARADE. He must talk about his feelings and his journey to victory to hundreds of thousands of people for an entire day. Then he can go back home
i love how he constantly looks like hes about to ask "can i go home now? 😓"
Well, it's pretty logical, he miss his country, friends and horses 😄 it's pretty hard to be constantly in foreign country, nostalgia kicks often
😂
@@galacticpixel6778 not just the country

Some people are introverts. Kawhi, Timmy Duncan for example.
@@WalterModel45 yes, he is introvert who wanted to race horses and he ends up as top 10 basketball centers of all time at the age of 28 😄 crazy
I'll never forget his reaction when someone asked him about the parade 😂😂
It was said he has a horse that’s racing on Sunday. He wouldn’t miss that for the world lol.
@ThisIsRockyTV well of finals went game 6 or 7. He would've missed it.
The parade?
@@WaveRider1989 that’s what makes it crazier. Closed it out in 5, parade and 2 days left before the race.
@Kay A Look at the stat sheet. He REALLY wanted to finish it. I think he was the only player who shot above 50%.
Jokic gives the interviews only to Malika lmao smart man
Why though😂
How is that smart? Tomorrow she'll probably have a lawsuit against him for touching her armpit

Thank you for making me fall back in love with Basketball, Denver. What a run. What a team.
SAME HERE i lost interest since Lbj ascension and his hijacking of the league.
The Lakers getting swept like that by a root based team with a humble guy as the best player was just the cherry at the top.
This guy has a demeanor that i think many americans should strive to have. Disciplined, level headed, understanding of the journey. He is in control of his emotions at the highest level under pressure and it’s admirable.
Amazing how they try to sensationalize him and make him larger than life, like every famous person in the US, but he's just like: No, I'm just a regular guy doing his job and going home to my wife and kids.
One of the reasons why people love him. He's human. We respect and admire that.
He reminds me of Timmy D
Seeing Joker yelling at his teammates was actually weird because he’s SO laid back 😂 Love this guy!
He cares a lot more than he lets on. You don't get as good as he does without caring. He just hates the racist media and blatant ref bias against him.
Because they in the nba finals and he wants to see his horses lol
@@easylife6348 He's running on a schedule to watch some horse racing back home, lol
I love the fact that Americans are always amazed with the mindset of regular Europeans. Most people outside France and UK are like him. Especially in poorer countries.
I would say most ppl like him are usually from small cities or countryside. Nationality doesnt play big role.
@@user-zx5yd4cf3y I don't think there are many traditional types (which he clearly is) at his age, even in the countryside of rich countries.

Congratulations to Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets become the NBA Champions
A breath of fresh era in an era of so many egomaniac superstars.
Hes my favorite athlete of all time. Even if i wasnt a nuggets fan i wpuld feel this way. This dudes character and how he gives no fucks about anything beside winning for his teammates and his family life. Thats all that matters and its all that should really matter. He isnt into all that bs which is really rare
Certified Legend. Just let him go home and race his horses. He brought y'all a championship.
You gotta love this guy! He didn’t even know where his Finals MVP trophy was and he obviously didn’t care because to him it was just another individual accolade. He was only happy his TEAM won! For all those who accused him of stat padding, could it not be more obvious this guy is probably the most selfless player in the NBA. He doesn’t care about the stats! Hopefully more championships to come in Denver led by the Fat Boy!
As an NBA fan for a long time... I think i will be most proud of this one. Champions in every aspect of basketball and decent men. Bravo!
Nikola's kiddo is so like him, like a pro,
just chill - all this is normal mood!❤ 🇷🇸🤣
I love this guy, great role model.
I think it can be tough for us Americans to understand how he can be so nonchalant, and truly not care about the accolades he receives. In a society that glorifies individualism, he truly just wants to play the game the right way and succeed with his team. He really is so unique and it's refreshing to have the potential face of the league carry this demeanor. Congrats to Denver!
Yep not every human being is look at me look at me i want attention give me clout. Mean mugging is a choice too bro. Can u believe that😂
Such a great comment. We really have lost our culture.
how can u hate him and giannis both humble and have more interest in life than basketball. both of em also act as if they are not 1-2 best players in the world
Bucks vs Nuggets next year 🤞
Nugs in 6.
Because they're both from the Balkans, my friend.
I never really watched him until these playoffs. He has got a wonderful game and his teammates love him. He is a heck of player!!
Largest contract in history of NBA and now the NO. 1 leader in Playoff points, assists and rebounds of all time. And all he cares about is how to go back to the village and relax Balkan style.
he's the first player to lead one single playoffs in all of those categories, not the no.1 all time leader of any of those stat categories.
I love this guy. So humble and simple. He doesn’t need clout.
From the people.
“The job is done we can go home now” this is the best quote
It’s cool that he’s straight telling basketball isn’t the most important thing in his life. Yet, he is so competitive. Good combination
Jokic is truly amazing! He flat out told the interviewer basketball isn't the main thing in my life, but something I'm good at! There are guys that train all night and day and can't even get close to what Jokic does! Kudos to Jokic, he became one of my favorite players after watching this final!
Now I see why he get so many assist
Dude only care about team achievements not individual achievement props to him.
The thing is in euro basketball coaches are real stars, not the players. And there's one thing that will piss your coach off and make him bench you and that is if you don't pass or assist to your teammates.
as a heat fan, i can't really hate this guy and the team. they are just too good. Actually happy it is over, love to see jokic have the mvp and jamal's jpurney is just inspirational. They might go back to back. But if somehow my heat will get to the finals again, woul love to see they face thr nuggets again
Most people didn't want either of the teams to lose, but want either of the teams to win. Says alot about both teams and their star players.
He is a treasure!
By this chance I hope that Nikola Jokic would continue to show the great values of a man, his attitude of simplicity. Values that people of today's forget to uplift , who are being blind with extravagant and in order manner. His the real MVP!!!!!
In sports, the lack of emotions can give you a competitive edge by not overreacting in difficult situations. Keeping a cold head is what makes the difference between loosing and winning, no matter what level of talent you have. Nikola clearly has this advantage.
He's a breath of fresh air
The most underrated sportsman of all time.
Just looking at media people how disappointed they are but trying so hard not to look like that.
i love how chill serbs are
I love this guy’s perspective on life.

Nicola is just so humble from the heart and i think that everybody can feel that! Sportsmen like him we should all respect…🤙🏽🔥👊🏽
This guy is a stud! I hope he wins more cause it shows you don't need a stacked team to win.
Nuggets are stacked. But they built it from the ground up.
@@jstdun*not stacked yet, waithing for MPJ to grow more
I like how his personality is so chill like he just won a NBA championship like it was just a regular game he won lol very funny but he’s very humble, Joker is a beast
I love how humble this man is. Its rare for a Superstar to admit that he can use much more improvement to his game. I like the chances of him getting 2 or 3 of these in his carrer.
Jokic has a bright future in the media. He did a great job interviewing the MVP in this video
Lmao love the quote! This man creates memes without trying. Very humble but also very honest that basketball isn’t the most important thing to him. He has repeatedly said this. Difference between him and other players that aren’t passionate about basketball is Jokic is one of the best to do it
I think he is passionate about basketball but it isn't his main priority
Jokic seems like a real barrel of fun to be around
Jokic has a ton of emotions in him. He doesn't show it, but you can sense it in him. if i were to bet... the only time we might see this man cry is when he retires
It’s wild the best player in the world doesn’t even care that much about basketball. What a character. Love Jokic.
Bravo Nikola 👏🏀❤️🇷🇸
Most players understandably so would relish their success of their first time being a champion and recognized as the best basketball player in the world. Then you might see them slack off a bit once they reach this dream/goal. But i think for jokic the chip is just a process and he has bigger goals beyond just more chips. The fact that he just wants to play basketball and still get better to me shows that he is going to continue to play at a high level and consistently contend for chips. Like he said the journey is the motivation instead of the result.
I'm glad you mentioned that last sentence. It's a foreign concept to many people but worth exploring .
I think he has a lot of resentment towards the racist media for how they were disrespecting him, and trivializing winning the chip is his way of getting back at them. If you saw him screaming on the bench he certainly cares more than he lets on.
Nikola, ponosu naš! ❤❤❤❤❤
Malika is such a pleasant person. Obviously only people around her know her true self, but she seems so genuine and sweet.

Not only thing…just *happens to be* something I’m good at…what an understatement…not just good but the world’s best
Just imagine how other nba players would be crucified for this nonchalant attitude.. “Basketball isn’t everything” I lost my Finals MVP trophy” I don’t want to go to the parade.. I love his laid back care free personality.. I just wonder how guys like Kobe Jordan etc that eat slept breath basketball feel about how much passion he lacks for the game obviously he’s really good at basketball.. He literally tells you it’s just a job to him imagine how bad other players would be perceived with that mentality.. It’s almost disrespectful to all the greats that dedicated their life to it but at same time he’s so good at it and is genuinely just a team guy it’s kinda overlooked.. Also honestly most people can relate to his personality and views that a job is just your job end of day.. Appreciate your family friends etc more than anything.. Very interesting
There is an explanation for that. Maybe Kobe and MJ had to prove someone that they are worthy...some childhood issues. This is not hate comment, but a real one. I love MJ and Kobe. Nikola is loved, chill guy, stable, coming from a normal family, small town in Serbia where people are super chill, and our coaches teaching you to play without ego. They will literaly kill your ego and not allow you to play if you are acting like a star...
Malika, keep up the great job, your one of the few that come across genuine, you seem to care about the game and players, never change, as an audience and fans, we love the game, it’s awesome, but so many reporters make it other stuff and try and tear the game down, it’s for all our enjoyment, it’s what brings us together, don’t be bigger then the game, much respect.
She just as trash as your take of her lmao
She's a karen lol
I feel like he's more relieved to have the win , than excited. Bc its so much work leading up to that point. I think it's one or the other. You feel relieved or excited ❤️ or maybe it bounces between the two.
This guy deserves a DOCUMENTARY! Agree?
How awesome is it to see the best player in the world not feel the need to refer to himself as "King", and make it all about his teammates, rather than himself? So refreshing.
Such a wholesome guy!
This “I don’t know where the trophy is” reminds me of his post-game microphone incident. “I didn’t break it”
He proved the fools in media wrong is 1 thing and after he won his face looked like he won a pickup game. Damn that was so badass. Hopefully this is a start of nuggets dynasty of winning multiple championships. This man is a beast. His attitude is unique not like the other divas in nba right now

Yeah you have an interesting perspective that’s much different from the one we have in the West but especially the US due to our lack of true large scale violent conflict for generations. We take much for granted sadly, and we get easily distracted by pettiness because we haven’t had to face the cold hard truths of life in the way most people have and so we’ve become detached with silliness and grandiose thinking to some degree.
Does ESPN even realise the FIBA World Cup is on in Manila in August? Jokic and all the international players will be there playing for their countries which is more important to them than their NBA teams. I haven’t seen one reporter even mention it.
