  • We bikepack northwestern Thailand, through the lush mountainous region along the Myanmar border. It took us 5 days to get from Chiang Mai to Mae Sot, this included 269km and 5008m climbing by bike, and 124km, 3000m+ elevation in the back of a truck.
    We show you some of the behind the scenes preparation that it takes to cycle tour South East Asia as we only have 2 days to get ready to leave Chiang Mai as we head for the safest border crossing into Myanmar at Mae Sot. We cycle right past the highest peak in Thailand, Doi Inthanon, and get up and close with friendly locals!

    guys you have balls to bike in those dangerous roads. I am living in Thailand for about 5 years now and I know how dangerous are those village roads. one thing you never find in any other places which I saw you tested already is their local coconut icecream !! they are from heaven !! stay safe where ever you are. cheers.

    iv,e never tried tubeless, it just seems like a lot can go wrong. i just use tubes with a tyre liner to protect from the throns. havent had a puncture since 2018 when a piece of wire poked the sidewall.
    however everytime i try my friends' tubeless bikes they feel more comfortable due to lower pressure on the tyres.

    I have found with tubes that have slime in them when you check the pressure some slime comes into the valve and then they don't want to take pressure, now i would just put in a tube, and simply fix a puncture. I know yours are tubules.

    Great video. Inspiring. I'm wanting to do this later this year. Mumbai to Ho Chi Minh City. I was worried about security in Myanmar but more worried about going up steep hills. How often do you have to get off and push, or how easy is it to hitch a lift up the mountain? Thanks.

    how did you guys get your bikes to Thailand? Did you need to pay extra money for them when you got on plane?

    • @TwoWanderYonder
      @TwoWanderYonder  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Quan Li Is - Hi. We put them on the plane as oversized luggage. It did not cost us extra. But that will all depend on the airline. We put all our clothes etc in the box. It has to weigh under 30kg.

    no bike pump? serious? you can change your pressure and if the stans milk gives out at least you have a backup.

    • @TwoWanderYonder
      @TwoWanderYonder  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      KYG we have air canisters for an emergency. Plus in Thailand there are motorbike shops on every corner with a compressor.

    • @kumbha1
      @kumbha1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      A pump weighs about the same as 3 canisters and the adaptor. Its certainly less wasteful than canisters and pumping a tyre takes about 45seconds for a 29” tyre. It also allows you to change tyre pressure depending on the terrane/road. But hey, everyone to themselves and as long as you keep pedaling and smiling… all good. Keep up the nice videos.

      @@kumbha1 agreed besides use tubes slime is not reliable and canisters are a terrible waste.
