Thank you for sharing your set up. It's always fascinating to see how different people set their gear up and carry it. I have two set ups. One my glamping slow touring (with older sister and granddaughter 8) and now a version of bike packing (riding a XS bike frame cancels out frame packs) for a long distance faster solo ride I'm planning and training for. Safe travels.

Thanks for showing. I have done some very long tours (not quite 400 days in one shot) and my setup is similar in some ways, but very different in others. I'm not sure if I'd like to strap so much stuff to my handlebars. I use a modified rear rack for two medium size panniers which are usually loaded light with clothing. The back has my camping and cooking gear, as well as tools and spare parts (tubes, cables, patches). I will probably make a video on it soon, inspired by yours, even though a long tour is not immediately on the agenda (Covid). I subscribed and wish you happy trails.

Thank you for sharing this info Adam. I learned a lot watching this video. You need the strength of a bull to ride a touring bicycle laden with 36 Kg. That's really impressive. Adding to all of that there is your own weight, this means you can't compromise on the wheels' quality. Happy Cycling!

    • @PathfinderBikepacking

I love the amount of stuff you have, you don't compromise on the "little luxuries" of preparedness. I like the idea of having two of some stuff (like how you have 2 multi tools) because I'm also the type that just likes to be prepared for everything. This is how I'd pack my panniers too if I went bike touring. I wish I could carry as much as you do on your bike but I'm not as strong so I'll just watch and imagine me doing the same in some alternate universe lol.

Good to see buddy. After having too many problems with the msr Whisperlite clogging on first day of use switching to primus omnifuel which also wouldn't always ignite simply I'm beginning to just use penny stoves and pure denatured alcohol. Saves so much weight. I use a trangia pot stand for the Coke can penny stoves and an array of Robens pans and a trangia frying plate for maybe the occasional egg.
Alcohol for lighting stoves is available in a lot of hardware shops. And in camping shops Coleman fuel which burns very sooty and like petrol quite lethally and too quickly. I mean the flames are huge when using Coleman vs a bbq lighter fluid etc.
You'll be surprised a penny stove can stay lit for easily 20 minutes per filling. I make 3 of them just in case I want to cook more than one pot at a time..

Wow, this is actually the first video where I see people packing stuff to take care of their bike chain. Taking care of your bike on longer trips is really underestimated. I also carry a rag to clean my bike chain. For lubricant I use simple WD-40. I don't have chain brush with me. I have heard that if you tape two old tooth brushes together you can clean your chain that way. But I usually clean my bike at power wash stations. If that is not possible I take 1 L plastic bottle and I make a small puncture on the cap and spray my chain with it. It usually gets rid of most of the dirt and for smaller bits I just use the rag.

    • @OmmerSyssel

I love how you are not super precise. ;-) Also you dont even try to be lightweight.

I love your setup! I have been using an 80s trek mountain bike which I love but I noticed if I load the front the bike is not stiff enough and the front goes all wobbly! I may buy a touring bike soon! thanks for all the details!

I only bought a bike to get around the city and avoid the horrible transportation options of my city. It just makes my heart ache, thinking how people like you fit as much as they can on their bike and go touring around the world and having adventures. Maybe I'll get there one day, maybe!

Keep the ride a habit for everyday ... Soon, all other modes of transportation will loose its sheen.
Cycle is the best ever invention.
