Absolutely warms my heart to see a young lady that can enjoy classic heavy metal.

“Fade to Black” is a powerful ballad about a man that wants to commit suicide, and eventually does it.
Wrong it's about james Amp that was stolen thaf his mom gave him and she passed when he was 16

The song was written about a time when they were going to record their first album in '83 and all of their gear was stolen. More specifically a Marshall Amplifier than belonged to James that his mother had bought him before she died of cancer.

Great to see youth of today loving Metallica. Followed them since mid 80s and are my fav band ever. Greetings from Cork Ireland. Bought my first album in 1988 when I was 10 - “ and justice for all” . I listen to them everyday- greatest ever. Kirk is one of the greatest lead guitarists ever. When he is on form he is spin chilling.

As a guitarist, I considered this song was one of the first recorded instances of Kirk, catching lightning in a bottle. He's probably done that more consistently than most anyone. I've always enjoyed him regardless of complaints.

I have been reading all of the comments and I try to keep up to answer them all but it is getting hard now there's soooooo many. I love this and I wanted to thank everyone for commenting and joining me on my channel.
My mum helps me with my comments and they take a long time.
I have read some comments about the sound on my videos but I don't have the equipment to make it sound better, sorry.
I can't keep up with requests but I do remember lots of them.
I will do less effects and try to make it sound better.
I really like learning about the life of the bands and the whys from everyone. I like how people have different views on songs and many ways of explaining what the song is about.
My mum will be going back to work very soon when we are allowed out so I will have to change to doing my videos somewhere else in the house as that's my mum's office.
My channel is not monetized so I am going to start a Patreon page to try and get some support so I can buy a microphone, camera and so I can pay for my editing apps. My videos are clipped and I'm sorry but I make a lot of mistakes.

Kirk Hammett is why I got a wah pedal. In fact Metallica is the main reason I learned to play guitar. "Nothing else matters" was the first song I learned.

Unfortunately this will never be possible to me, cause my mother past away a long time ago by cancer. But I know and feel deep down inside that she is with me somehow, I do Believe it!
I'm not a religious person, but heavy music and Tallica has been my source of energy through some hard times for good, it´s so nice to see these two enjoying their time together and talking about the power of Rock music though.

This is a song about suicide and how the person contemplating this feels inside - James was feeling very down after Metallica's equipment was stolen. Extremely powerful lyrics like most of James' work. Oh, and please consider expanding your choice of music to include Ronnie James Dio and Might I suggest Children of the Sea, and Stargazer to start? little girl showing mom metallica? now she was raised on good music. she needs to hear all of metallica. not as much of st anger. ive seen them live 3 times, all great shows.
my biggest issue with St Anger was the lack of solos. they have arguably one of the best guitarists alive and you'd never know it listening to that album.

Came across this when trying to learn Metallica on guitar. I have to say, I’m massively impressed with the whole video - song, content, editing!! I did see a comment about “dialling back on the editing”. While it’s true that sometimes less is more, you’re learning your skills and putting them to use in this video. Well done I say. Pass that on to your Dad as well and your Mum too. To be honest, I wish I could do some of the editing skills you have used in this video. Marks out of 10............11!
React to one live in mines France 2009 PLEASE. Similar type song but different. (It’s a anti-war song) It’s about a soldier from a believe WW1 who stepped on a land mine and lost all of his motor functions making him stuck in his own head and unable to move. He then communicates through Morse code saying he wants to die because he’s rather die then stay alive in pain and suffering. Pretty dark (same with fade to black which is about suicide) but it’s good to see and understand what war does to people. If you haven’t heard it I would suggest the video which may be a bit graphic (one small clip of head surgery). The instruments are beautiful and the guitar solos are absolutely fantastic. I mainly love it for the solos tbh (the last solo is legendary which is why I love watching it live).
