    Been a pasta guy for most of my 71 years but I have to tell you I'm so use to Shirataki noodles now I have no desire to go back to regular spaghetti. I empty a bag into a strainer, wash thoroughly, cut up with scissors, place in boiling water for 2 minutes, strain, then add to a frypan with some ghee and pepper and salt. Toss and turn for 2 minutes then add the sauce + cheese. Suits me!

    Because this question keeps getting asked, I'll pin a response here. "How does this compare to the Perfect Keto mac & cheese pasta?"
    Answer: It's been a while since I've had the Perfect Keto pasta, but all lupini pasta I've tried has a similar texture. Both are more dense than wheat pasta, and can get much softer than traditional pasta if you overcook it. I feel like the Aviate pasta didn't get mushy as easily as the Perfect Keto pasta. I like that the Aviate pasta is rotini, which allows more sauce to cling to it. I also calculated the price per gram and the Aviate is about 10% less expensive.
    All that said, if you've tried a lupini pasta in the past and not liked it, I don't think the Aviate brand is going to change your opinion. If, however, you've liked lupini pasta, then I can be pretty certain you'll like the Aviate brand.

    • @brendastoetzer9033
      @brendastoetzer9033 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for sharing as I was just going to ask how it compares. I found the PK pasta kind of gummy too, but it's a good sub for regular pasta if that craving kicks in.

    • @debbiesue4287
      @debbiesue4287 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I can understand people not liking lupini pasta because of the texture. It's heavier. I always describe it as sort of pasta that's made a bit too thick. I do find it works better to either put it in soup where it can just keep absorbing liquid slowly or to bake it after you boil it like you did. Every time I've tried to just put a sauce over it And eat it like that it just overpowers the sauce and is not good. However I Think it tastes good if you cook it right. I will definitely give this brand a try. I Think one of the pluses to lupini pasta For me is that because it has a heavier feel I am satisfied eating smaller portions of it than I would regular wheat pasta.

    The best low carb pasta is Steve’s recipe made from Chicken. It is a little bit of work and has the 2 modernist pantry specialty ingredients you’ll have to order, but it is the absolute best! No, it doesn’t taste like chicken at all and to get the noodle firmer, I use a cooked fresh chicken breast vs canned chicken. I’ve had non keto friends try it and they are in shock when I tell them what it’s made of. I think of all the recipes, that was the top game changer for me! I appreciate that recipe more than you know steve!

    • @barbarachen1428
      @barbarachen1428 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the cooked chicken tip. I'll be trying this. Canned chicken has such a distinctive taste...I don't love it in chicken pizza crust but if I used fresh ground chicken that flavor is absent and I vastly prefer it. I've done these noodles with various forms of eggs and it hasn't quite been worth the effort.

    • @mariecohen3578
      @mariecohen3578 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I agree that Steve’s chicken pasta is the best and so economical once you have those extra ingredients. They actually go a long way. I start with a grocery store roast chicken and weigh out 3 oz

    • @jtsra7
      @jtsra7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the review on that, I'm very curious about it. So it really doesn't taste like chicken?! I saw video that uses boiled eggs instead, have you tried with eggs? Since pasta is made from eggs and flour I figured that version probably tastes the closest to actually pasta. Also, do you eat all your pasta that day or can it be stored and if you store it how are you storing it? Thanks for any feedback!

    • @kimberlyd1324
      @kimberlyd1324 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@jtsra7 It makes a large batch and I can get 2-3 meals for 2 people out of it. I just store the noodles in a container in the fridge. No special way to store them. I can say 100% that I do not taste chicken. Another thing I do different than steve is try to do one long strand of noodle and then cut it after it’s firm into manageable pieces. I find when you start and stop the noodles, they have a bulbous end on there that I dont like. If you want to really go above and beyond and make them look like the real deal, I’ve added a tiny bit of buttercup yellow food dye (not for the food purists) to the batter to give an egg like color. I’d say give it a try. It is work but worth it.

    I spotted this video during the day (while working) and could not WAIT to see your review. Thanks, Steve. I'll probably try this because it's rotini shaped. I was so bummed that Jazilupini never took off. I even followed up with them a few times asking when they were going to launch for real. I really enjoyed it (although it too was on the firm side) and the whole family was willing to eat it even before husband and son were keto. Right now, my best homemade pasta is a hybrid version of Anita's (Ketogenic Woman) that I make with only carton egg whites--no yolks. She has a version with psyllium husk and a carnivore version with pork rinds. I like to do a version halfway between so the psyllium has no chance to get overly gummy and make the batter too thick. I cut it into fettucine and the texture has a really good bite. If I freeze it in marinara, it doesn't dehydrate. #USA

    I absolutely agree about the texture of Lupini pasta. I've only experienced the Perfect Keto Mac and cheese pasta so my experience is not vast. I have found that if I just slightly over do those it helps (not eliminate but helps) lessen that rubbery not so clean bite. You have to be careful because it is a balancing act to get right.
    I hope these noodles will make that even easier with a better flavor. #USA

    I moved in with family when I was really ill and didn't realize that they ate a ketogenic lifestyle. Over the next 7-8 months I (accidentally) lost 80 pounds that depression and chronic fatigue had put on my frame. I am getting back to who I used to be and I believe that this way of eating and intermittent fasting has been largely responsible for that, because I've not had any energy to exercise.
    I've missed bread, pasta, and potatoes, but the improvements in my health have kept me from backsliding. However, if there's something more satisfying than zucchini "noodles" for Italian style dishes, I'd be really glad to incorporate them back into my diet. These new pastas sound like, if you treat them to some special care, they'll fill back the hole that giving up carbs left.
    Thank you for your efforts to improve our diets with all your experiments. I only found your channel recently, but you've definitely got a new faithful follower!

    I just tried to order the rotini through the provided link but you are currently sold out. I have not tried your pasta yet, but I LOVE Aviate lupini flakes, I add cheddar cheese and it tastes EXACTLY like the cheese grits I grew up eating here in North Carolina, but with a far superior nutrition profile. I am so passionate about lupin/lupini flour, and the amazing nutrition it provides. Low carb and low oxalate are my two biggest goals in every meal I eat, and lupini flour is the best tasting, healthiest choice, by far. I would LOVE to try your pasta, so far I have enjoyed Lulupasta, but if yours tastes anywhere near as good as your flakes, I'm sure it will be amazing. Fingers crossed I win. :) #USA

      So happy to hear you enjoy our Aviate Foods lupini products! Would it be too much to ask you to share your experience with a quick amazon review? Bonus points if you mention Serious Keto as well to help Steve get more viewers.

    Definitely want to try this product. I've used shirataki historically, but get a bit of 'discomfort' from them. This seems like a great alternative, as I've had success with lupin flour in the past as well.

    Thanks Steve. I used the link to try it out. As an Italian on keto, I sooo miss pasta.

    I'd be willing to try, depending on price. I didn't care for the perfect keto mac&cheese and I have 2 boxes in the pantry. Always nice to see Terri and Courtney, hope your son is doing well, we haven't seen him for a while 😊

    Somehow I missed this video until now. Based on your review, I'm definitely willing to give it a try. Having the coupon code makes the price a little easier to 'swallow'. Pun intended. But seriously, thank you and the family for the honest review.

    Looking forward to giving this one a shot. I really enjoy your product reviews. As a working schmuck who has been on the keto coaster on and off for 1.5 years, I always come back to your videos to get back on the wagon and hope that eventually it will stick. Also from WI. Go Pack! #US

    Very interested in Lupini. In my research it says it is gluten free (I am celiac) but it does state "natural flavors" which can have gluten. Anxious to do more research and actually test it out. Thank you for the education. 😁

    I'm on keto diet and there's one thing I can't give up and that's pasta. Can I enter your contest for the Lupini Rotini pasta. I'm Canadian. I would love to try it. It would solve my problem. Love your channel so informative. Thanks for all you do.

    I have been interested in the lupini flakes since people have been using them in breading recipes, didn't know about Aviate, thanks for doing the work for us.

    Steve, I got this pasta a few days ago. I wasn't overly impressed as a pasta. But last night I made chicken noodle soup and it was really good. I didn't precook it. I made the soup, put in the pasta, returned to a boil, after about 3 minutes I covered it and removed it from the heat, let it sit for 10-15 minutes covered and the pasta was perfectly cooked.
    Love your videos!
