  • ( www.TFLtruck.com ) The 2015 Chevy Colorado marks the return of Chevrolet into the highly competitive small truck segment. Until this year the Japanese truck manufacturers with the Nissan Frontier and Toyota Tacoma have owned this market in the United States as Ford has stopped selling the iconic ranger in the U.S.
    In another accurate, informative and fun TFLTruck video we get to know almost everything you ever wanted to know about the 2015 Chevy Colorado.

    I like how that guy talked about the car. Most people talk like if they are reading a script but he really talked about like he knew what it was about and in his own words.

      Really? I feel like he knew absolutely nothing about the truck. He can't tell us fuel mileage numbers, power, towing, pricing, anything. All he said repeatedly was best in class. Oh and it looks "athletic". Don't get me wrong I like the look and all, but if looking like a crossover in the front with a bed in the back is athletic then jesus I'm behind in the times. Reminds me of a freeway and city truck. And from this side angle, I'm seeing a lot of Tundra resemblance in the shape and lines. hmmm..

    • @hnaser3

      ***** Well GM doesn't allow them to give out those numbers. I can maybe see the tundra look but thats because tundra is a bubbly looking truck.

    I wish it was smaller. If this is going to be what we consider a mid-sized truck than I fear full-size trucks will start being the size of motor-homes when this hits market. I think I speak for all when I say that people in the market for a small truck, want only a few simple things. 30mpg, ~1500lbs payload, 5000lbs towing, $20,000.

      ***** Blame the government. We place requirements on vehicles based on size. To dodge making a better product, automakers just build bigger cars. Everyone is too lazy to actually design a good product, they would fall behind the competition and ultimately lose their spot as the big 3. They also use the regulations as a scapegoat, when anybody challenges the big 3 (tesla) they lobby congress into passing bullshit laws that other companies have to abide by. It's a corrupt system, and the main reason why you shouldn't buy a vehicle built after the recession in 2008.

    I recently purchased a new 14 Silverado 4x4 1wt base model. It has a peppy v6, 6 speed auto, crank windows, shifter on the floor where it belongs. I can get about 21mpg on the highway and about 16 ot 17 around town. It's not great, but much better than the 4x4's of days gone by. I think the diesel will be close to $40k which to me is a waste. I paid $29k out the door for my Silverado and could not be happier.

    My # one question is will the duramax diesel model be able to run on biodiesel? If so then it will a perfect truck for me... i always have had a diesel truck for that reason but alreasy have a cummins workhorse for heavy towin g and now want a simple everyday use midsize that will tow a two horse trailer upon request.

      No, you don't. You proved it by asking why. The desire for More Power is coming back. The new Vette, the SS, the Challenger, Charger, and the increased performance of the new Mustang and the new Z/28... Trucks like the Raptor and the 6.2 Ltr option in the Chevy Silverado High Country... all evidence that guys like me actually want and pay for More Power.
      This is self explanatory... but evidently not for some people. Like you. You don't Get It.

    • @guildrich
      @guildrich 10 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Why...do we Americans...need to put a V8...IN EVERYTHING!!??!?!! For trucks, torque is more important than horsepower. This can easily be accomplished with a 4 or 6 cylinder diesel (about 3-6 liters), not to mention with better fuel economy as well. Don't get me wrong, I understand that there are some trucks that are specifically built for racing and performance. For the average person, however, I doubt that he/she would want to go racing around town with a frickin' 1,500+ pound payload on the back or on a trailer!

      my dad has a field full of s10s. the 4.3 is a good motor, and we recently built a 4.3 bore'd it out an filled it with all the goodies and it will eat mustangs still no chevy man. Dont hate them but the ones here in VA are just as bad as the toyotas on rust. My taco is 100% clean, you could eat off the frame, but thats not very common for a toyota. S10 and blazers have horrible rust problems also, 300k on a chevy sounds like its past time for a top-bottom rebuild.

    I think these will do well, at least in the short term. They are far ahead of the long-in-the-tooth Frontier and Tacoma. The biggest problem GM has (besides the fallout from ignition switches) is that the are under a lot of pressure to increase incentives on the Silverado. If the pricing of the Silverado is too close it will really hurt the launch of these midsize trucks.

Still if the new Colorado dmax dose not get a 6speed manual ill stick to my old 90 chevy 1ton 454 4speed manual 4.56 gears and 35's smokes them on every gear

    It seems good. Most people that need a truck doesn't need a full size or heavy duty. Not all of us have a house to tow. For myself I have a Quad and a jet ski. All together even with the trailer and gear is no more than 3k pounds. Plus I live in so cal and houses are getting smaller and smaller and so does land. Now, a v8? No thanks. I rather have diesel v6 for the size. This truck is being sold for about a year in Mexico. I've seen them and it looks cheap(like most GM), but this American version looks nice.

  • @rickjohnson7116
    @rickjohnson7116 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's about time the mid-sized truck makes a comeback, and it's way past time for a small diesel. This would be a perfect truck for pulling an aluminum fishing boat, or a trailer with a couple of snowmobiles, or motorcycles etc.. They are estimating 370 ft/lbs of torque, which is more than most stock V8's, and torque is the only important power stat when it comes to trucks. Best of all it should be able to hit 30 mpg. All that and it wouldn't take up the entire garage, and you could park it anywhere with no problem. 99% of the utility, with a potential for much better mileage. What's not to like?

    The truck is a rebadged Isuzu D-Max, with a new front fascia.
    The Duramax engine, even though the name was brought to play by GM and Isuzu, is going to be a VM Motori(Fiat) diesel.

    Nice truck for the road. But the front end needs to have a chrome bumper for going through tall grass and samplings. The diesel was not even shown in this video. From what I have found out, it is going to have a timing belt. A long lasting, ease of maintenance vehicle is going to have a timing chain.

    I just don't see what the draw is to these little trucks. They are still expensive and they don't get that much better fuel economy than a 1/2 ton. Maintenance costs will be the same. The 1/2 ton is a way better value considering you can tow an haul more. You'll be more comfortable also.

    • @Skott62
      @Skott62 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Size. 1/2 tons are larger so if you want a smaller version of a 1/2 ton you can have it. This for people who don't haul as much as the 1/2 tons can. What you say about cost though is true.

    • @splewy
      @splewy 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fuel economy in full-size trucks is so good, and fuel economy in mid-size trucks is so bad for the same reason, technology. 10 years ago, when last new mid-size trucks like the Tacoma were introduced, 20mpg for a truck was considered great. Time moves on though, and in the past decade, manufacturers have put *tons* of effort into improving the fuel economy of full size trucks and literally zero effort into improving the midsize trucks.
      If the manufacturers finally decide to give all the fuel saving technology (aerodynamics, advanced powertrains, lightweight materials) they put in full size trucks, to midsize trucks, then they will smack the pants off the big trucks in fuel economy.

    • @jestofreestone1
      @jestofreestone1 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      When you don't need a full size, but want a bed. Thats the draw. Some of us have to live near or in cities and parking is tough in a big truck even for seasoned drivers. 90% of 1/2 ton owners drive their tucks as pavement commuter princesses anyways.

    • @scottwilkins
      @scottwilkins 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      1. Better MPG, 2. Better city driving, 3. Just no need to be THAT big. Plus I disagree with your "comfort" level statement. These are plenty comfortable. BTW, I drive a full size 1/2 ton. Will continue to do so. But there is no need for that size for everyone. And no, not everyone needs to do exactly what you do Zack, get real.

    • @mixflip
      @mixflip 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have owned a Ford Ranger and Toyota Tacoma then moved up to a Ford F150 4x4 crew cab. I have to admit for a city boy who like to gout and play in the dirt from time to time...a light small truck was more comfortable all around in the city (Las Vegas) for me. Drive throughs, parking lots, parking garages, dodging soccer moms picking up the kids, but still having a man vehicle that can carry a dirt bike in the back...small trucks have their place fore sure.
      The biggest reason I sold the F150 was the cost of gas driving it 5 days a week. The size was the 2nd reason. If someone would build a gas electric hybrid full size truck that gets 100mpg...I'd stick with the full size regardless of the bulkiness in the city.

  • @kengrierson1414

    The configurator is live www.chevrolet.com/colorado-small-truck/build-your-own.html
    The lowest trim, extended cab, long box, 2 wheel drive starts at $20,995.
    That's bare bones.
    Before options it's easy to hit $31,000 for a 4 wheel drive Quad cab version
    If it's the typical GM Corporate interior it likely is hard plastic all over.
    But it's a Chev so they'll likely sell boatloads of these trucks

    some people actually still enjoy driving stick!

    "3.6-liter V-6 with direct injection makes 305 hp at 6,800 rpm and 269 pounds-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm"" 2.5L 200 horsepower at 6,300 rpm and 191 pounds-feet of torque at 4,400 rpm" These are car engines about to be used in trucks. Higher HP vs Torque. Hmmmm

    This truck is just about perfect ,But they should release the diesel at launch not in 2016.We just leased a Ford F150 but it;s so big and awkward to park we'll return it at lease end .This one I will buy .However if the Ford brings out the new Ranger in time it will be a difficult decision ..
    I went to the dealership to get more information they have nothing to offer .This is a piss off .You can get more info on You tube than at a manufacturers rep .what crap .
    Not even a picture at the dealership just the big trucks all over the place .

    Looks pretty nice but I need a full size truck for the towing capabilities.

    • @farmerallis
      @farmerallis 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Keep in mind most of the 1/2 trucks you will buy on the market will be equipped to tow between 7-9K pounds; the 2.8 diesel will be able to tow around 7100 lbs I would imagine.

    • @davva360
      @davva360 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have two trailers that I tow on a regular basis. One is a small boat and trailer which is only 3000 lbs total. It would be fine for that. However the other trailer is almost 10,000 lbs loaded. I use a HD truck to pull that as I do not like working them to the max. For a lot of people though a smaller truck would be fine.

    • @farmerallis
      @farmerallis 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      davva360
      Yeah, I wouldn't be comfortable with towing 10K with anything but a 3/4-1 ton truck.

    • @farmerallis
      @farmerallis 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      drew a Well he has a 10,000 lb trailer, so I wouldn't recommend anything other than a full size truck, preferably a 3/4 or 1 ton truck. The diesel Colorado will be rated to tow around 6800-7000 lbs I would imagine.

    ahy!!!!! Call me old fashion, but I hate the gear selector in the floor, put it in the steering column like a real truck, where it's supposed to be in a full sized man truck!!!!!!!!!!!!! I agree, I wouldn't even consider buy this model until at least 2016 because of the 4 cylinder diesel. My hat is off to them for bringing that technology to market but from a marketing standpoint I would have held that card much closer and might have shown it mid jun-july 2015.

  • @ChuckRoastMD
    @ChuckRoastMD 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'd be in the market, I've had several smaller GM trucks. The thing that would kill it for me is if it was made in Shreveport. The 3 trucks that I've bought were made there and their quality control is pitiful. All had many, many issues and small problems that shouldn't have been missed. My 07 Canyon went back for small things at least 6 times in 3 years. That's pitiful by anybody's standards. I couldn't wait to get rid of it. I don't really need a V8, I have a 427 Corvette if I want to go fast, but the diesel would be a big plus.

    I can't stand salesmen or pitchmen who do not know their product. This guy does it better than most but usually when I watch these video the guys pitching their product obviously sound like they know nothing about what they're talking about. That truck has the 6 foot bed not the 5 foot bed. If you're going to sell your product, the least you could do is know it and be passionate about it.

    I like the 4 cylinder deiseal engine but they should put in a 8 speed automatic transmission in it and giving out 45 mpg on the highway and 35 mpg in the city that will be really cool then when they put on the performance add on like short ram intake, throttle body spacer performance exhust system , and chip it it should jump up to 59mpg on the high way then at the city 46 mpg that why Chevy keeps fucking up on the

    I would like to see some smaller, compact-sized pickups (this truck is a mid-size), like the Toyota 1-ton, Chevy LUV, Ford Courier, VW Caddy, Subaru Brat, Mazda B-series. and of course the Ford Ranger. Even if they are uni-body. As long as they can still haul my shit. And I'm talking about the 7-foot bed, regular cab, plain janers.

    It looks good and the 2.8 Diesel has been a long time coming. Given the 10Billion dollars the US gov lost on their bailout, and admitting to knowingly making low quality vehicles in the hearings, And the recent ignition switch recall they knew about for 10yrs, I could never buy a Chevy. But quality mid-size diesel trucks, hopefully the first of many
