I think Natalie Scholl's new security system is clever, and yet the doll police bullied her so badly she had to delete her social media for a while, though she has returned now. She's doing something important and all they cared about is he fact she gave one kit to an artist that they didn't approve and Natalie Scholl has essentially been boycotted and blacklisted over it. The doll police focus on the wrong things. Thank you for this video, as always educational, informative and super cute!

Thank you :-) Some sculptors think that their Copyrights are protected under the Berne Convention. Unfortunately that is not the case when it comes to China. Under the Berne Convention, individuals have what is legally referred to as a "valid copyright". In China they will only recognise and accept "enforceable copyrights". There is a massive difference between the two. I included a link to a couple of law articles on this topic in the description box of this video, which support this statement. In simple terms, in China the key issue is "proof of ownership". Under the Berne Convention, individuals have a what is referred to as a "valid copyright" which is not enforceable under Chinese law. The Chinese courts and local authorities will only recognise and act upon 'enforceable copyrights" because that is what their law governs them to do so. This is why the Chinese Government set up the Copyright Protection Centre of China (CPCC), so that foreigners can register their copyrights in China. By completing the "optional/voluntary" copyright registration with the CPCC, the government issues an official Chinese Copyright certificate which provides the individual with proof that they are the legal and rightful owner of the Copyright in China. Because this is an official Chinese document, it is recognised by the Chinese courts and local Chinese authorities. After Ebtehal Abul registered her copyrights in China she was able to successfully remove all the counterfeit products off e-commerce platforms :-)

I will have to watch your 6 parter when I am in the right frame of mind (I was forced to take business year for a job I had, so am not fond of it, so I tend to catch on what is going on) I do agree with your research, I would add that I still put heavy blame as well, as you had mentioned, on this given wrong advice or the middleman who do the negotiating and do not have the individual sculptor best interests at heart. Part of the problem is before the pan it was easier to solve than after the pan. The unexpected chaos caused by it multiplied by ever new scrupulous manufacturers and owners popping up and desperate workers there is an underbelly of "unapproved" factories that are like the Mayfly, here today gone tomorrow. It is exactly as both you and the vendor, I have seen his video, have described but it is many many layers thick, the clandestine (unofficial secret official company that outsources to tiny factories); and the Underbelly (factories and subsidaries) that actually is what China wants shut down, as they cost them the face of the country, plus legitimate companies are all part of the economy there. International manufacturing has always been a complex matter. And has a very long history in combating reproduced/counterfeit items. It is definitely easier to move from China, but then one will still need to be diligent about the rise of new counterfeit markets. All in all I think Natalie system is a good start. If the artist understands what they need do and not do, it will work real good for now until a better system comes along or the NFT system gets affordable for small business.

None of this would have happened if they had kept their kits made in Germany or Spain. They are the best vinyl to paint on. But sculptors wanted to save money by going to China which lined their pockets not ours. Many of us as artists miss the superior quality of German Vinyl. True story. I got targeted recently by the Doll Police for making a statement on my channel that my favourite vinyl is German Vinyl (produced by Puppen Traumland to be exact) and that certain sculptors moved their manufacturing from Germany to China to increase their profits (see my previous video). The silent majority knows what the truth is but apparently we are all supposed to turn a blind eye to it. Unfortunately, now that the replica issues are so out of control, I don't think it will matter where in the world sculptors manufacture their kits, the Chinese will continue to find ways to copy their work because they are aware how profitable it is to copy their kits. This was one of the biggest risks outlined in my manufacturing in China video - when individuals choose to manufacture in China they are essentially teaching them how you do their business. After they learn how to do it they can then legally rip it from away in the most shadiest way, by using the various loop-holes in their law. The disappointing part is when collectors invest their hard earned money into limited edition kits only to have them replicated a short while after. Financially it does not affect the Sculptor because they got all the money they expected to receive for their limited edition. But, it affects the collector's/consumers investment in authentic, making them less desirable, therefore worth less. All because certain sculptors choose to manufacture in a country like China that has a well known reputation for counterfeiting products and then not legally protecting their work from being copied.

Thank you 😃 Consumers will purchase what they want and can afford and given how much inflation has risen since the pandemic, many consumers are very focussed on price which is why these online platforms have become so succesful in recent years. The demand for "generic" or "replica" products in general has risen dramatically here in Australia, especially with groceries because the cost has increased by a whopping 33% since 2020. It the same situation for many other industries. When I showcase my authentic reborn dolls on my channel, I focus on the art, to demonstrate to my viewers the value of investing in the art but I am also mindfull, not to make others feel excluded who are not in the position to afford them. Giving people hope that one day they might be able to afford one, or showing potential alternatives like ADG and PG is a much kinder approach than bullying people for their consumers choices. I know of one very popular Reborn Artist who has over 1.5m TH-cam followers, who uses this approach and she has succeesssfully sold many, many, many authentic dolls to those consumers who thought they could never afford authentic. By adapting her business model slightly, she also now paints some dolls that are less detailed than her standard work so that she can adjust the price and those dolls are being snapped up by many of those who said they could not afford to bu genuine - absolutely genius! 😃

Ebtehal Abul registers her kit copyrights in China, and she stated on her page just recently that it does indeed stop the copies. It's what has to be done. I appreciate that Ebtehal is going about stopping the copies without attacking buyers. She's going after the individuals producing them, which is the source. The truth is, even if every collector stopped buying the copies, the shops will still produce them and people who aren't in the hobby and don't know anything about copyrights issues will continue to buy them for their child, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, etc. There will still be a demand for them. Does it only matter if reborn collectors buy copies, or does it matter if anyone buys them? So the right steps have to be taken to stop the source if any success is to be had with stopping China copies. Otherwise, it will just continue on.

As explained in this video, after Ebtehal Abul registeted her copyrights in China she was able to successfully remove all the counterfeit products off e-commerce platforms 😃
