Thanks for your 2 videos. They were my detailed guide to doing this repair. The 2nd video was a stitch in time for how to detach to original cylinder. Kudos for a great job
Thanks for the follow up video, helped me out greatly as I was like, "How the heck do you get this thing off?", you saved me $$$$, much appreciated!!!!!

Thanks for the video's brilliant, however changing the ignitor did not solve the problem, what would be the next step? Thanks for your time in advance...
Wire "polarity" doesn't matter, it's AC. The ignitor is wired in series with the gas valve, once the ignitor pulls enough current (at its hottest), there is enough current flow to the gas valve to actuate it, which opens then the burner ignites. To prevent losing or dropping the bolts, use a piece of paper towel, lay over the head of the bolt and insert into the tool. Install the bolt, remove the tool and the paper falls away. This was a cinch on your oven. On mine the two bolts in the back underneath are not accessible as they ran a gas line right in front of them. Had to use a 1/4" stubby box wrench to get in there and take them out. I'd post a link to my video but TH-cam auto-spams messages with links.

Great videos. Thanks. This may sound like a crazy question..but hey even some women do fix things around the house. My ignitor quit on my Norge gas oven and I am curious. All this work you did..did you unplug your oven from a power supply(I saw you did not move the range away from the wall and all the buttons were on when you did some testing.. and..and..do you need to shut the gas off to the oven before any work..is there a button somewhere one should click on(I am learning this stuff too) or is this automatic when the ignitor quits? I know my gas fireplace has a switch which cuts the gas off for safety automatically..learned that years ago during repairs of a thermostat replacement. This is to make sure everyone is safe...again thank you.If you save me money as I will try to fix this myself(I will get the gas company to test my oven afterwards as a precaution(its free)..I will donate some of the extra $ to you..I do have an estimate. (parts and so on)..
You can do it! I did! My fiance helped me get some of the screws off, but it was not too hard. I found this video then ordered the part and followed the directions. Does not matter if you are man or woman to be handy ;-)
Thank you, I have the same oven and problem. Watched both videos. I now have the confidence to repair the oven myself. Only thing I can say, is you should tell everyone to unplug the oven while replacing the Norton glow bar part#WB13K0021. I read that in the paper work that is located on the back of your oven. Thanks so much for your help.
Great video! Question.. do you have to get high temperature wire nuts for this?? If I need to replace the wire spade do you think I need a high temp insulated connector? I can't find those anywhere.. thanks!!
Tom, what do you think is the life expectancy of this Hotpoint product? That is, at what point should we stop propping up failing GE parts? 15 years after manufacture? 20 years?
+Paul Kaihla life expectancy varies a lot depending on usage and care. My general thought I'd that 15-25 years should be fine for many homeowners. If you have it breaking down frequently, it might be time to replace.
Thanks for the video. Not sure if you responded to Dr. Rodgers but I did what you did and it still won't come on. The igniter still does not light up. Will appreciate what you think should be done next

My oven is just like yours. My oven ignites and the burners light however it doesn't seem the flames are strong enough. So it doesn't heat or cook very well. Is there a flame adjuster
+acrystal2011 Unfortunately, I've not had to deal with adjusting the flames. However, if the thermostat is measuring incorrectly, maybe that's why it's not heating enough or turning off the flames too soon.
+Ron Hayner Hi Ron, I believe GEXL44 is a production number but not the model number. There should be a sticker that often says "Model No" or something similar and it will have more letters and numbers - maybe about 10 to 15. The sticker is often on the frame. But, igniters are frequently quite generic, so if you can't find the specific model number, there's a good likelihood that this will work: amzn.to/1VxtTmM
Tomahawk DIY thanks this video helped me to fix my stove. A $20 part saved me a $250 dollar visit from the repair guy and having to spend $500 on a new stove.
my igniter is glowing AND the gas is opening up to the burner tube filing the room but not igniting. what do you think? I haven't started testing anything.
See if the part 1 video helps. th-cam.com/video/sHWRRMrIpfU/w-d-xo.html. I don't recall it being tricky to put the drawer back. Maybe there is a clip on the side or something. Good luck
Hmm. I wonder if there is a poor wire connection somewhere or if there is another problem besides the igniter or maybe the new igniter is faulty. If you figure out the problem please reply with the solution.

Thank you. Just did this. Worked perfectly. Purchased the replacement part on Amazon. Fixed it just in time to cook Easter dinner.

Thanks for your great videos, I am going to fix mine tomorrow.

Did you have to turn the gas and electric off at the unit before you started the job?
Thank you!
You're welcome!

I really wish I'd have watched this about a half hour ago when I was killing myself trying to get those 2 bolts haha. Oh well. Ty.
Amen to that! The other videos did not show the trick to getting the ignitor off and I cursed a blue streak trying to do that!
good job dude.
i have a Frigidaire gas stove but it will light some of the back bout maybe a quarter of it and wont heat what do you think is the problem
very good

Perfect. Even better since it's the same model as my stove....my wife's stove i.e. Thanks

what is the part number for the ignitor for a GE Spectra XL44?
+Ron Hayner Hi Ron, I believe GEXL44 is a production number but not the model number. +Ron Hayner Your oven is electric and you probably know it, wiseguy.
Just fhgf my
Did you turn the gas off first?
Yes - shut off valve at the stove.
Tomahawk DIY thanks this video helped me to fix my stove. A $20 part saved me a $250 dollar visit from the repair guy and having to spend $500 on a new stove.
Good Thanks
my igniter is glowing AND the gas is opening up to the burner tube filing the room but not igniting. what do you think? I haven't started testing anything.
+j williams I wouldn't mess around with smelling gas. I'd shut things off, call the gas company and leave the house
how is airflow adjusted for oven in a Kenmore gas stove it was converted for propane but the flame is high an orange
Bravo..
Does it matter which wires on the new ignitor connects to the old wires?
I'm not certain, but someone in a post post said it doesn't matter
Thanks for the help
+nahod bjelic Polarity does not matter. It is AC.
thanks, whats the difference?
how much should these parts cost?
About $10 to $40 depending on your oven. Most are under $20 though. Part from Amazon: amzn.to/2mYhAYa
good
where is the video on how to put the bottom drawer back in? thanks
See if the part 1 video helps. th-cam.com/video/sHWRRMrIpfU/w-d-xo.html. I don't recall it being tricky to put the drawer back. Maybe there is a clip on the side or something. Good luck
Another problem could be the oven controller (computer) doesn't supply voltage to the heater/valve circuit. What then?
hola
i think he pulled the screw on the air mixture adjuster
He did and should not have.
Igniter in the oven won't heat up again, not even glowing orange or brighter than that it's just stay dim....
Hmm. I wonder if there is a poor wire connection somewhere or if there is another problem besides the igniter or maybe the new igniter is faulty. If you figure out the problem please reply with the solution.
what ?
3 dislikes,. I guess their waiting on ( pt 3)
mi horno no enciende tu me puedes syudar
Thx. Great video.
