Can't believe I put in that my gas oven was not heating up and this is the first video that came up. And my exact stove! Only it's 23 yrs old. I ordered the part off Amazon for $28 and installed it in 10 minutes. Took way more time trying to clean up behind it. Would be great if my gas line was about 6 inches longer so I could get back there. Saved me the money for a new stove. Thank you!!!!!

Dude..You ROCK! My Whirlpool oven went out and was flakey for a while. I searched the net and found your video. Everything you said about the bad igniter was the problem with my oven. I ordered a new one, got it in 2 days and installed it. Now...I'M COOKING WITH GAS!!! Keep up the good posts.

An excellent tutorial, thank you for posting. To be supportive to your video, I would also recommend disconnecting the power when changing out the ignitor. Also the video show's the door off the stove at the beginning of the tutorial, and due to the dangers of gas, it doesn't hurt to mention to your viewer that you were observing the operation of the ignitor without the door on. : o )

Thank you so much! I have basically the same oven or its little brother. I ordered the igniter, it shall come in 24-48 hours. I will then install it easy, it is the exact same part. All of this because of YOU!!!! Whirlpool wouldn't help me troubleshooting the problem, they only wanted to send me the technician with a 100$ service call minimal fee.......what a bunch of crooks! But with TH-cam, the tutorials and your video for replacement steps, I now can do the job myself, save lots of money and lurn something..... Thank you again to help honest people increase their autonomy!

This was awesome!! We were able to fix our stove, which has been not heating up properly for months, with this method. Thankfully, ours had connectors, so we didn't have to cut any wires. We were also able to swap to hearing element from the broiler, since they were the same, and we don't use the broiler. So, in the end our stove is fixed at no cost. AWESOME!!!

Thank you so much for the tutorial, I have a propane magtag oven and last night it took an hour to pre heat. We were eating pizza at 11:00 at night, not cool. We were afraid that we might have to buy a new stove, but I watched your tutorial and went through the steps where you took off the door, racks, and bottom cover and turned the oven on to watch the igniter and I think this is the problem. It's not glowing like it should and the burner didn't flame on. Easy fix. I may not have to buy a new stove. Thanks again for the help.

A faulty bottom ignitor was exactly what was wrong with my oven not heating properly. At first, I was skeptical because my ignitor was glowing fairly bright, but apparently it was not glowing bright enough to open the gas safety valve to allow the burner to light. I removed the ignitor by unscrewing the two screws and unplugging it from the rear. I then checked it with a voltmeter and it had approximately 180 ohms. The actual part of the ignitor that lights, can best be described as what looks like a black strip of sandpaper, with a shiny or reflective bass to it. Upon inspecting my old ignitor, I saw that only about half of the black portion was still shiny and reflective. I purchased a new one on Amazon for $17, and it was an exact replacement with the same connector attached. All areas of the piece inside the ignitor that looks like a black strip of sandpaper on the new ignitor were shiny and reflective, with no dull or burnt out portions on it. Prior to installing it, I checked it with a voltmeter and it had approximately 170 ohms. After I installed it, it got brighter than my previous ignitor, and the burner fired up about 30 seconds later. This was a very easy fix and only took about 15 minutes. You can do this!

    Hello
I have a problem with my gas oven. It's as if no gas is going through. I know this because I turn the oven bottom on high and try to light it with a lighter but nothing happens and I also don't smell any gas. What could be the problem ? Thank you

It should not take 2-3 minutes to ignite, as you say. The industry standard is typically one minute. If it takes 2-3 minutes, you will have too much of temperature drop once the oven attempts to cycle back on to maintain an even baking temperature. Just some helpful info.
