So frightening but yet SO impressive when mother nature puts on a show like this. Unbelievable and beautiful! Must be an amazing feeling to wath something like this in person.
Tank You!!!
@goldennugget100 Mt. Etna is a so called stratovolcano. That means that the magma under the surface is a pretty viscous one. Thus, the magma may be floating so slowly that it gets cooled down and solidifies inside the mountain, blocking the way. When more magma comes up and starts to press against the solidified magma, the preassure starts building up. Also, the preassure may increase even more because of the gasses inside the volcano. This is how most explosive eruptions are caused.
@peppe8219 Ciao non ti so dire io assieme a molti altri di geoff mackley l'ho visto su SKY mi pare discovery channel o national geographic. Purtroppo non so dove poterli trovare...anche io li vorrei.
+Millie ST Why so offensive? I just stated it looks like it, which it pretty does. I didn't say it surely is greenscreened. Claiming something to be a fact and merely expressing one's perception is a different thing.
I'm mesmerised by volcanoes. I'm reminded of Maurice & Katia Kraft, who'd spent their professional lives filming and photographing volcanoes; it was their life's work. Then one day their luck ran out, and they were both incinerated by a pyroclastic flow, at Japan's Mt Unzen, if I remember rightly. It's a fatal mistake to under-estimate Mother Nature.
@goldennugget100 That would of course depend on how close to the volcano you are, and I don't have any idea. I can at least say that in Alaska in 1912, the largest volcano eruption the last 100 years took place. It was heard 466 km (750 miles) away.
HEY!! T_T Geoff Mackley's got guts for even getting CLOSE to the volcano, let alone being in the crater and watching the fire go off in a dance of somber fury.
A dude carrying more about being in a camera shot than the quality of the video.. i get that he wants to be in the shot, but right in the middle and in the way of watching where the lava spits out is irritating..
There is something hypnotically beautiful about watching a lava fountain like that. An incredible display of mother nature's power.
Very thank's for sharing.

THE SOUND OF THE ERUPTION IS INCREDIBLE & thumbs up to the person who told them to be quiet
Nature at its best
Great Video
A good movie. I enjoy the artisticness. You succeed at bringing the viewer into the eruption.
When is Etna NOT pissed off?
This is the most incredible footage I have ever seen. You guys volcanic rock!
This was filmed on my birthday .
I'm in Sicily now and Etna is still smoking visibly from 30 miles away.

5:23 "the man & the volcano" ... what an eruption! ... brave or crazy?
I would... it's definitely on my bucket list.
Last on it ofcourse, just in case.
how far away is the person standing from the volcano?
You have some serious balls hats off to you you have my respect
what is the building in the vid? some kind of refuge? and.. the volcano is still growing up?
Your job must be so much fun. How did you get to where you were?
so nice. i love this
it's so lovely, sure wish they'd have a live broadcast for the next eruption.
Nowadays Etna is "shuting" and erupting! I live under Etna in Acireale.
just amazing...absolutely...
Nature is wonderful
Holy Lava Rocks, Batman! That was an amazing display!
Simply WOW! :O It is mesmerizing to see such amount of power that no one would suspect to occur before any of our eyes! :O
Some things you can’t hold out on and need to get out of its way. Volcanoes being one of them.
beautiful!
@peppe8219

5:00 looks kind if like it was green screened. Or is that just me
***** it totally looks like it :D
+Andrew A. could be because they are 3/4 of a mile away from the volcano
+Michael Urban ur an idiot

What causes the lava to be shot that high into the air?
fantastique! quel courage,mème avec une combiaison!
My left ear enjoyed this.
@ImGonnaShout2000 How Loud can an eruption get?
Hughe Jass look at Krakatoa for example

Almirable quien espone su vida
Ir you look at the smoke from the right angle, and if you have imaginaton, theres flying pokemons
Its amazing
My left ear enjoyed this video.
Crazy you guys were at the edge of its lava lake when it erupts like this.
Some of that was quite haunting... I was reminded of Casper David Friedrich's Wanderer above the sea of fog...
orgoglioso della mia SICILIA!!!
Keren banget....mr

Looks great. But so many people always choosing Mt Vesuvius although Mt Etna is still active and erupt.
Hi Mister Mackley unfortunately torre del Filosofo was completely covert 26 october 2013. Ciao from etna volcano
HEY!! T_T Geoff Mackley's got guts for even getting CLOSE to the volcano, let alone being in the crater and watching the fire go off in a dance of somber fury.
this is no longer brave this is 101% crazy most fascinating do of nature even more than a meteor
If a Volcano happens your supposed to run in circles and scream real loud "POMPEII"..
ThePostal67 wrong volcano 😂😂
heeeeey, how did they get a shot of my house????
I envy you Geoff for staring raw earth in the face.
Amazing
Mt Etna, umad?
Prove me wrong, but from what i remember is that that is John Seach in the suit, not Geoff Mackley.
imagine the pressures it takes to do blow out all that lava and ash...
A dude carrying more about being in a camera shot than the quality of the video.. i get that he wants to be in the shot, but right in the middle and in the way of watching where the lava spits out is irritating..
The same mechanism that causes champagne to shoot out of a bottle: dissolved gas expanding when decompressed and pushing it out
1:01 We need to fix this place up!
You guys have got balls! I would have peed my pants if I were the cameraman! D:
cool!!!
is that kind of volcanoes lava liquid like Hawaii's or is it thick like peanut butter?
aa type
My left ear is so alone..
Here is a silly question, why would anyone want to get that close to an erupting Volcano?
the best
Typhon's probably having a bad day.
@KdEtna Si dice "Thank you"! ;)
@lafmow it protects the person from the falling hot ash that otherwise would burn their skin
That's the South East cone (SEC) erupting.
this is the most amazing eruption video ive ever seen!! and this is probably only a V.E.I. 3 at most.
my right ear is lonely
It must be cool to be a volcanologist.
+DiamondCraft 1 Nah its actually pretty hot

Chuck Norris does it without the fire suit to wake up in the morning.......
Erupting* and volcanoes don't work like in the movies. Lava flows VERY slowly.
yes that is right, but the main cause of explosive behaviour in volcanos is gas, trapped gas.
Typhon is restless, I see.
fantástico
He looks happy as if he's watching fireworks haha..
@fredyreyes1998 The dude in the movie 2012.
I'd say someody is earning thier subs.
he earned my and he deserve it you need steekl ballz to do such a thing
@goldennugget100 all of the pressured and hot air under the volcano im guessing sorry im just a 14 yr old
Probably a scientist. Why the admiration?
@fredyreyes1998 I know right!
1:45 Chocolate rain?
ok who's gonna sleep in the tent.
4:54 starts some extra action.
XD
