Just wanted to say how much fun you are to listen to!
It's 03:36 a.m. here in South Korea. I couldn't sleep and got up to read my Bible.
I had received another one of your videos from TH-cam that presented you on the screen and not just your hands!
I just had to watch it. It's good to see your face every once in a while!
You just sound like so much fun. Thank you.
Time to read.... I do hope you have a good day😊

I like the BBC historical reality shows and the old house renos. Hollywood's version of reality is decidedly NOT. That cover is classic and could be a ledger, a journal, a scrapbook. Lots of possibilities!

How nice it is to hear someone besides my wonderful sister who shares my TV tastes. Almost all of my friends are Hardcore Hallmark
Christmas Movies and reality show watchers. Hard to do much sharing about that. By none of them are crafters either. It does bug me when I watch what I think is a new true crime show only to find out it is just another take on a crime I’ve watched before. I love your style.

I love the book so far (of course)! And I agree about your viewing preferences. I also follow a lot of true crime channels (as well as art/craft ones, obviously) and I enjoy half-watchng/half-listening as I do other stuff. When I am making art, I enjoy audio books.

I’m with you Nik, I can’t watch anything about people’s lives. Probably because I work in Mental Health so I get enough about people’s lives, lol. I love True Crimes, Solving Mysteries, or Ancient anything. I don’t like stupid comedy or reality shows, I would rather have a voluntary root canal !!!

When the description of the show is “you will cry every time!”. That’s a BIG NO” mysteries, documentaries (Digging for Britain) and science things. I do like to work on art or chores while listening to mysteries on audio books. I am the same with dogs and kids in movies, too. Looking forward to the finished journal. I have collected lots of materials for a Sherlock book-box-ledger thingy. It’s about 4 projects down the list. Okay 8 projects down.

I don't watch TV, I refuse to be verbally battered by noisy ads, I don't have to much time for movies unless they are sci fi or fantasy based and then I am particular... I do watch the occasional doco sitting in a Dr's waiting room or similar... I absolutely do not watch the news, it is full of death, doom and destruction and I can live without that... Guess I just love to craft too much... lol.. and I love what you are doing here, looking forward to Part 2.

I am soooo with you on the 'This is Us' type shows or movies. They're just higher quality soap operas to me. Sorry, no offense intended to anyone who enjoys soap operas.
My 'thing' is true crime, documentaries (anything informative), archeology(fave) & history, psychological thrillers & mysteries...and comedy. Something not everyone likes that I enjoy is the paranormal, ie. ghosts, ufos, near death experiences...anything "unexplained". But, it can't be too hokie or cheesy. NO "reality" shows. Unless it's cooking, home remodeling or something like that.
I always love seeing you have a new video up!🤗 I learn something from you every time. Plus...I just love to hear you talk away about random things. You are so relatable, and funny.😁
Can't wait for part 'deux' of this new-old journal.💗💗💗

Heh. Your TV tastes sound exactly like mine. I miss the PBS lineup of the 80's., How-to series, arts and music, history, science. anything with James Burke. BBC America has picked up some of that, but you know the History Channel no longer has anything to do with history. Urgh! About the only 'reality' show worth watching is Forged In Fire, and then only when they make historic weapons. If you're lucky enough to live in an area where your cable/satellite provider has BYU TV, they have some of the older arts, music, cooking, and homekeeping series. Bonus is the genealogy stuff. That's very cool.

Holy cow! I believe you are my much younger, prettier and more talented twin sister. You have described my TV preferences to a T. I just can't stay with those personal drama shows with the giant casts sitting around commiserating with each other. Give me the hunt for the serial killer every time. And those supposedly 'reality' shows. Puleeze. Perhaps get a real life. And I do love foreign movies and TV series, but I just don't have the time to sit and read subtitles every day. I have recently made an exception for the original Professor T, however. Very quirky with good mysteries. The English remake is also good, but I saw the Belgian version first. Happy crafting - and TV 'listening'.

    • @katpaints
      @katpaints 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I guess we're triplets.... I usually am on my laptop if not doin something else, so reading subtitles, no matter the subject matter, doesn't happen. I have LISTENED to Professor T - mostly just because it came on and I didn't want to switch it off. I did just start BritBox and discovered they have As Time Goes By on there. That has been the only serial-type show I've been able to watch for a long time! The first time we watched it, my husband had just retired and so many of the situations could have been acted out in our house! We watched it over and over again until BBC America no longer showed it.

I tried one episode of This is US. Got through 20 minutes. Nope. Wasn't goin there any longer. I like Alaska shows...and no not the one with the Brown family. They just plain ignorant. I read books about living in Alaska too. The hardships and the beauty of the land and wildlife make me so curious. I did love the show called Oddities. Odd folks bringing in strange things either dead or alive. Some things were so out there it makes ya wonder how did they even come about finding them.
So I guess what you are telling us about what you like to watch is not much. Lol got it. There isn't much on TV to bother with. So i understand very well

  • @annaengberg

I always look to see if you have a new video, or I watch some of your other tutorials. You're so inspiring! :)
I also watch a lot of 'how to' in astronomy since I'm getting used to my telescope. :) And some other journal making channels from time to time.
I can't see much of Hallmarks films in Sweden, but I find them relaxing, sometimes, even if I know what's going to happen. The channel has some fun 'series' with stories happening in the same town. Otherwise I'm a mystery, crime, fantasy and sci fi watcher. Hallmark does have one good series in mysteries and crimes category called 'Mystery 101'.
Can't wait for the next video from you! :)

We have a lot in common (besides the love of books). I can't just sit and watch TV, I avoid Hallmark's predictable movies and reality TV, can't watch a dog die movie, and love true crime. But the one difference . . . "This is Us" is one of the only shows I can focus fully on (no predictability and no dogs die) and NO one calls me while it's on.

Agree re reality shows except Alone (experienced survivalists placed ALONE in beautiful places just before winter sets in). The last series was in Vancouver. No bikinis and no social games. Fabulous old movies on TCM: The Enchanted Cottage, Gaslight with Ingrid Bergman, and the sleeper Xmas movie It Happened on 5th Avenue. The most complicated long-running police drama from the UK: Line of Duty. The genius comedies you’ve never seen before: Tad Lasso and What We Do in the Shadows (clueless self-absorbed vampires living on Staten Island). We’re loving Only Murders in the Building with Steve Martin and Martin short (not a murder she wrote). Oh, and Escape to the Chateau on PBS and Australian post-WW2 drama series: A Place to call Home. I enjoyed watching you work. Now on to part 2…

I agree with you for the most part, except the cooking shows. Not much of a cook myself! But there’s a series on Netflix that I’m watching now and it’s funny, cute, can be sexy… it’s Jane the Virgin! And the narrator is a hoot! Just a good, unwind after the day, kind of show! I like a lot of British series too! I’m enjoying watching your new old book video and looking forward to more!

If reality shows were actually real life situations maybe just maybe I would be interested, but they are nowhere reality. I agree with you on all shows. And I have the same issue with watching foreign movies, I just don’t have time to sit and watch. And there are a ton of really good foreign movies and series I would love to watch. It’s really good to see you Nik. Missed you a lot.

I can’t believe it. We are almost exactly twin souls when it comes to program watching. Except for the medical oddities thing. But everthing else….we would never argue over what to watch😁

I learn a lot from your videos. TFS. BTW, “This Is Us” is a great show, but the first season especially was what I call a “six hanky” event.

I chuckled when you said your opinion would be unpopular about reality shows, then added the "Just shoot me" comment. I echo your opinion, but the funny part was that I also had a "Just shoot me" moment yesterday. I was making the closing announcement at my library last night, and I got totally discombobulated while on the speaker. I laughed like an over-tired maniacal crazy person and then said "Oh God, Just shoot me now" which rang out over all three floors, clear as day for all to hear. - Much to the amusement or possibly consternation of my supervisor. I couldn't tell with her mask on! Hope that made you laugh. Have a great day!

Crack me up! Dancing with the Stars, This is Us, Nicholas Sparks…. I think not. Give me some good sci-fi, science or travel documentary or a well written dark comedy.
Thanks for another great idea and tutorial.

I always have something going on my iPad. Mainly just for background noise. Sometime I’m listening to audio books.

I enjoyed part 1, can't wait for part 2. You might check out Karina Longworth's podcast "You Must Remember This". There are various series.

I love watching whodunit, history, culture, nature and garden shows, and I love home improvement shows (like renovating houses, … is that in the category reality shows?). I hate medical series, reality shows and I don't watch games. My favourite shows come from the BBC channels. On TH-cam, obviously, I love to watch you, lol! I love to watch other youtubers who works with paper. I love miniatures, so I watch diorama and dollhouses channels too on YT (You'd love
"Abandoned Miniatures" channel, I think). Awesome video, as always. Hi from Belgium!

ugh I almost never watch TV, unless it's some really great documentary or series ... and those are harder and harder to come by. It's all about the cheap thrills it seems like 😖
Great seeing this start to finish book cover, Nik! ❤️

I like documentaries, mysteries, interesting stuff. If the animal isn't going to live, I'm not watching. I refuse to read or watch Nicholas spark anything. I miss grimm. I will watch TH-cam card making, journal making, art journaling, paper dying stuff all day long. I feel like my brain and psyche are being fed, not exposed to rot. I don't enjoy cooking, but I love learning how to repurpose things. You're one of my addictions 😉

I’m not very big on t.v. Most of my watching is here on TH-cam or Netflix. That being said I really like mysteries, and just wired stuff.
I was wondering if you have ever watched “Obsoleteoddity” on TH-cam? Lots of stories! Good stuff!

I cannot abide reality shows either Nic, absolutely with you on that, loathe them. This year (2021) I have really been into British TV, mostly Crime/Mysteries. I encourage you to check out 'Luther' it is hands down one of the best thriller/crime solver/wee bit psycho type series I've ever watched. You'll have to pay attention though because it has some wild twist and turns. Work has kept me so busy I have fallen way behind on any type of book crafting, which makes me sad.

I love watching cooking videos whilest eating.
Your show preferences sound a lot like mine.
Only sort of game show I really love is Taskmaster. It's hilarious.
Reality shows is the main reason I threw out my tv 10 years ago.
I mainly watch art and crafts stuff, animal videos, docs, food channels.
However, I at times love the hallmark crap, exactly for the predictably. I watch them when out of spoons, but needing a brainless distraction and enough background noise to keep my mind from going down the rabit hole.

Almost nothing holds my attention on the television. When I was younger I could always tell that I was sick if I actually wanted to watch game shows. I was watching one of those "heartwarming" Disney movies, because I like the actors, but I was completely annoyed because A) it was completely predictable and B) the dog died. I like TH-cam videos about a lot of different subjects because I can speed them up :-)

Also stumbled across Time Team on TH-cam. It was a BBC series, it's off the air, but the full series is out on YT. It's amazing.

I watch a lot of mysteries, but not as many as I used to. My husband and I end up watching Bones and Rizzoli & Isles reruns a lot. And Godzilla movies (my husband likes them. I find them funny) And I watch a lot of TH-cam lately. Travel stuff and craft or planning videos.
