    I like how these pages all lay flat. Thank you for explaining this. I do watch the Sea Lemon and her book making. She showed how to make books for the “Lefty” in the family. He love his books.

    Thanks, Nik! I learned the kettle stitch and link stitching from a wonderful TH-cam channel called Das Bookbinding. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to learn the basics and then graduate up to the more complicated bookbinding techniques.

    This is perfect Nik. Regardless of the sped up or what, you always explain it in a way that makes sense. I so appreciate you taking the time to do this. I'm thinking I'd like to do this with a variety of art papers, from mixed media to watercolor paper to pastel papers. Thank you ever so much. I pray that you are feeling good today. Take care and God bless you and yours. Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas

    When I make books I avoid stitching as I found glue and cheese cloth give me great results. It’s quick and the lazy way out. However this technique is a must (IMO) for producing a high quality finish.
    Always enjoy your videos.

    Thank you so much for sharing this binding 👍😀
    I was wondering if this binding can be used for all papers? Thinking about junk journal. Is this binding best for new papers or.. Hope you know what I mean.🤯 As you have guess English is not my language 🤣
    Stay safe and well 🙏👩🏻‍🎨

      Hi Tina! Junk journals are different because a lot of the time, they are made so that items can be added to the pages like a scrapbook or memory book. This type of binding doesn't allow for much room between the pages, so I'd say its more for a writing journal than a junk journal. At least that's my opinion =)

    Hello again Nik, I know I already commented on this video, but as I was rewatching (yes, I do that), I had a question that came to mind - would clear gesso work as a sealant for the cover since I don't have any matte medium? Maybe you'll see this question or maybe you won't - I don't know how TH-cam notifications work. If not, maybe someone else will know the answer. Yep, I'm still wondering how you are, sorry I just can't help myself, the Lord gave me a heart of compassion for others. Take care and God bless you and yours. Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas

    It would have helped more if you had slowed down your movement so what you're doing could be seen more clearly. Your description was clear but some people learn better when they can see.

    • @NiktheBooksmith
      @NiktheBooksmith  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Hi Beena! Sorry about that. One thing that may help is to click on the gear icon for the video and switch to a slower playback speed. I rely on that function a lot if I need to slow down a video that is going to quick to see what's going on. =)
