This is exactly the video I needed! I'm trying to find a premium Bible to give to my mother in law for her birthday and the burgundy verse by verse was the one I was looking at for her.
I love this CSB single column paragraph format in the Holman Handcrafted Collection! Both the slate gray as well as the burgundy. Not as good in quality as, say, Schuyler, but it's half or less of the cost as a Schuyler, and as such it is a great deal as far as premium Bibles go! 😊
I have the slate...it has been used for a month on a daily basis. Two things to point out: one, the cover does have some wrinkling but it handles rough use beautifully. Two, the edge line is stiff, but as the month has progressed, i have seen it open better and better each day. Just to say, I did change and put 4 different blue ribbons on mine. Love this bible and it is an amazing companion to my single column wide margin. Tim, great job and can not wait to see the other colorways Holman has coming out. Hopefully and better quality large print thinline
Love your thorough, detailed yet concise reviews, Sir. My wife loves the marbled burgundy calfskin single-column personal size I blessed her with recently. Dang fine Bible. Your informed opinions are always a welcome breath of fresh air. I would love to hear Pastor Tim preach sometime if I find myself in the neighborhood.
As nice as these are on the outside, Holman’s single column CSB knocks it out of the park on every front. Font size, words per line and line spacing are perfect for long reading sessions. As well as the distinct formatting between prose, poetry and lists. The only minor complaint is it would’ve been nice to have a slightly wider outer margin
Really tempted to add one of those reference editions to my collection. I've never been much of a CSB guy but my new pastor leading our replant comes from a Church where CSB is the primary translation. I'll probably remain a LSB/NASB95/ESV guy but having a CSB as an additional tool for when we get people new to the Bible might be useful.
i ordered the slate since i prefer single column. i do have Schuyler bibles but must say that the paper quality of the Holman is better in my opinion. my con to the Bible is mine had a strong chemical type smell that still lingers now after using for a little over a month. for the price you cannot beat this one and I think it can win top slot in the mid price range between premium and economy offerings.
@@anickelsworthbiblereviews I also should add it had the most pungent, strong chemical smell that I've ever had in a Bible. I believe it's to do with the tanning process they've used. I've had it out of the box for the past month and fortunately the smell has just about gone. I do really like the leather however, it feels great. The tab is stiff but seems to be breaking in. I'm going to very much enjoy this Bible in the years ahead
Very lovely Bibles Pastor Tim. I see they have chosen to stick with the three ribbons in red, gold and black. Would have perhaps preferred different colour options to go with the new cover colours but that’s just my opinion. They do look great. 😊
@@anickelsworthbiblereviews Just curious, how good were the ribbons in your slate grey? I've seen a few videos, and mine is included, where the end of the red ribbon hasn't been cut well.
Seeing them in person, which format did you prefer? The single column or double column verse by verse? Thank you for your excellent videos Tim. I’ve learned so much from watching your channel, and I’ve purchased several wonderful Bibles based on your recommendations.
The Bible Collection game is a slippery slope, it starts with one, then two, then your chasing translations finally your saving up to buy all seven volumes of the leather Word on Fire Bible 😂
Just more Bibles to confirm my belief that Holman has the best looking Bibles out right now. I love that slate color.
I love both of these. The VBV is my favorite text block
Those bibles sit beautifully. Thank you for showing your collection.
Thank you Tim.
The Slate single-column CSB is by far my favorite Bible and my daily reader. Thanks for the video, Tim!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts as always. The CSB is probably my next premium purchase, and these look great. I love what Holman is up to!
Thank you, Brother Tim 🌹⭐🌹
I'm glad to see the CSB getting some love.
Got that Burgundy verse by verse and wow!
I have the CSB pastors bible in brown goatskin. Same layout but more margin space inside and outside. That slate leather looks so good though
I have the single column in slate grey. It’s as nice as you think.

Bruh…that Thinline…🤦🏻♂️

Arent all Bibles the same?

You’d be welcome!
Having owned the slate grey single column, there are small scratches in the leather. Not distracting, more like a patina giving it a unique pattern.
Great review, Tim! I have the slate, and its cover does wrinkle when rolled. Must be specific to the individual covers.
I think it is just a product of mass production. Not as consistent.
Is the wrinkle a “defect” and will it cause faster wear? Hope this makes sense.

You’re the second person to comment the chemical smell. Both of mine smell straight like leather.
Thank you, Tim. I've got the grey one, and it wrinkles really badly, but to be honest, it just adds to the character
It seems they are a bit all over the place there.

On the gray one they went with black, navy and red. I’m fine with them since the Bible has red accents. On the red one the combination is perfect.
@@anickelsworthbiblereviews I didn’t notice that - sorry. Was thinking of the burgundy one. 😊
Just at a counterpoint to what Tim said, my slate grey definitely wrinkles when you curl the cover. I thought it was a defect at the start!
I’d say that isn’t supposed to happen. Maybe a little, but not extensively.

@jakersni9499 I don’t really focus on that because it’s an easy fix, but mine were cut fine.
Verse by verse, double column wide margin would be my preference. However, I need a faux leather cover to get the price down under $50.

I always prefer double column.
@@anickelsworthbiblereviews Thank you.
The one thing I envy about nondenominational/Protestant Christians, is that you do have a much wider selection of bibles to choose from.
I really wish they weren't printed in China
Several feel the same.
Even Korea would be an improvement.
The Bible Collection game is a slippery slope, it starts with one, then two, then your chasing translations finally your saving up to buy all seven volumes of the leather Word on Fire Bible 😂
Single column def goes way too far into the gutter. They needed to pull that out by like another 1/4”
How are they handcrafted if they're mass produced in China? 🤔
You’ll have to watch my video at noon.
