Would a glass container work just as well as plastic?
Absolutely! Just note that the key for lettuce storage is to wrap it first or line the container with either a clean cloth or paper towels. The absorptive material will soak up any excess moisture released from the lettuce and that will keep the container humid, but prevent the lettuce from sitting in water (which would cause it to rot).
