I added bar and chain oil, let it warm up and ran full throttle. That solved the stalling at idle issue. Still rips my arm off from compression. But, a returned brand new chaw ....$50.00......I can live with it !
I saw of these today at one of the Tractor Supply's in the area. Was tempted to pick one up as a play-thing since it's a 4-stroke chainsaw, even if it's not the best saw made. Mainly for the "It's different" factor. I'd say its' power would be a similar concept to the old 2-stroke saws from the 60's/70's where they relied on more torque and lower rpm's. Even if it cuts slower it's still quicker than using a hand saw. :)
I put an NGK spark plug in it and retuned it today, and you're right, it's got torque. That done, you can lean on it far more than a 46cc saw has any right to handle.
@@jackstevens585 My friend mostly uses the one I bought when he needs to cut something tree related in his yard and it just happens to be sitting within sight when he does. I got rid of the stock chain and put a far more aggressive gold toothed chain on it. It cuts quicker and really flings the chips but it's still not going to be as fast as a normal saw. :)
FYI I wast referring to you with my comments. I’ve enjoyed your video and just moments ago first heard of 4 stroke chainsaws. I never realized there ever was such an animal and current production. Very interesting and from your edits am even more curious. Thanks!
I bought one because of this video and I'm glad I did this little chainsaw is awesome starts right up every time it takes some getting used to because it's a 4cycle but I would recommend it
These come with no valve lash from the factory. I dont know why. First thing you need to do is reset the valve clearance to 0.006” (00.15mm) before starting it. Then again after 10 hrs of run time. Then again once each season.
I have used a four stroke Honda weed and brush saw for years. I love it. I have Stihl chainsaws, and, brush cutter/weed whips as well. But, that Honda is the best. It is a commercial grade tool runs great, and, starts after sitting in the shed all winter. You get what you pay for.
I have the 49cc 18" Senix, and on the crankcase oil cap it states use 10W30 motor oil. You might take a close look at yours to see if it says the same.
@@Jenjpremier Thanks Jen. This one uses separate systems, bar and chain oil for the bar and chain, and engine oil for the engine. Definitely don't put bar and chain oil in the engine crankcase.
Yes indeed. Also for better results, once break-in occurs using stock provided oil, upgrade to a Full Synthetic 10/30 it can only help this little engine run cooler !
Looks to have very similar clutch/sprocket chain and bar to the regular chinese chansaws that have flooded the market. I had a chinese saw myself. It was OK but needed constant fettling to keep it reliable. I now only have an old Stihl and a Husky which are a breath of fresh air by comparison.
Good Vid! I have 3-4 other saws but literally just took chance on this "Used" at Tractor Supply for $85 bucks w/18" bar. Bout to take it out back now & see what it does but the thing looks like it's barely been used at all so hopefully worth that cost for a flip or gift if nuth'in else...Thanks!
Glad you like it! Definitely expect to tune it, if yours is like mine was. Also, I'll have another video coming out at some point showing why, but 8 hours to the first oil change is insanity. I'll be changing mine and it hasn't even had one tank of fuel through it yet. Oil's cheap, change it often, especially during break in.
I got mine at Menard's for for $99 and love it. I'd mark the oil fill tube with a Magic Marker so you know how much oil to refill it with. Most engines with 2 halve cases use gaskets between the 2 halves. Valve covers have gaskets too to prevent oil leaks. Whatever.
I bought this saw in May of 2021. This saw is great! For a gas powered saw, it's been the most reliable so far. It is the forth saw I have acquired to date and I think this will out perform my other 52cc BlueMax gas saw over time. I have 2 electric saws (battery and plug-in) and 2 gasoline saws (BlueMax and now the Senix). Individually each saw was under $250 except for the battery electric saw, it cost me over $300 and its not suitable for forestry work (expensive to own and cheaply made). Overall, I think this saw is more cost effective compared to the other stuff they have on the shelves inside the store (I suspect thats why they dont have it in the physical store). I should probably mention that it burns through chain bar oil so get a gallon of the stuff and motor oil as well. Also, I added a 18" Oregon bar (62) to this saw and it works good, but occasionally the chain slips off (I blame that on user error cause it happens only when I turn the saw sideways). Read the startup instructions!! I was struggling to start this saw everytime, but after reviewing the instructions and pictograms on the saw, I have not had any issues. fires up with one pull. the instructions says, on cold starts, squeeze primer 11 times, pull choke, then pull starter 5 times. After the machine warms up, it should start with one pull. This saw does work sideways but only when laid on its left side (the starter side). If laid on its fuel tank sideways, it will stall out. this is not fuel injected!!! I might update this review if I discover any other issues worth mentioning. wear ear plugs. Peace.
I wish just one quality company like stihl would produce one model in 4 stroke. Then i would get started building a wood gasification unit and a replace the carb with a custom built mixer. Real long hose and there you have it, a wood powered wood cutting machine. Just an fyi for any one else thinking about this, propane regulators use negative pressure to deliver the fuel to the mixer. So a cut hose would not result in a leak and would work well in this application.
saw one today at a Tractor Supply got to thinking.. wonder how well it picks up oil for the crankcase in all the different angles one typically uses a saw. on this side, that side, upside down... kinda scary..
I think it’s built as more of a simple bucking saw. I watched another review that showed it stalling when you run on its side. I am kinda surprised there is even a market for it to be honest for only a little more you can get an echo cs-3510 which is more then most homeowners would ever need and you get a better warranty, better parts availability and a professional quality 2 stroke engine.
I saw a blurb somewhere - in my owners manual - that suggests it's actually a positive oil pump not just a splash oil system. Which makes sense, cause you KNOW a saw gets used on it's side a good bit. This little saw is better quality & more sophisticated than initial impressions suggest. Got mine in January 2022 first week @ Tractor Supply. Had 30 days to test & return it. Have no intentions of doing so. Now that I've had mixture screws tuned & new larger pull handle installed (easier on fingers) this thing is a keeper. It's cool to have a 'Thumper' Chainsaw. It runs so clean I can start it, let it idle the whole tank away - takes about 70 minutes - and it idles perfectly the whole time. Also it has a gear driven bar oiler so no puddle of oil when idling.
Great i'll be seeing these in the shop soon, the public here are pretty clueless and refuse to educate themselves past putting gas in it. Bet i see these beat to a pulp from all the neglect.
At least when they straight gas it, it won't die immediately. Make sure the oil gets changed, 8 hours on the break-in oil is insanity. I don't even have a full tank of fuel through this one and the oil has a lot more sparkle to it than I'd like.
If people will just maintain it per the manual & use high quality FULL SYNTHETIC 10/30 Engine Oil, you shouldn't see too many. This is one strong running little saw. My Saw shop tech was pretty impressed & wants me to let him know on longevity.
At $123.99/free shipping, on Amazon how could you go wrong, if you area SawNut like me, you have to get one just for the novelty of it, and plan on carrying it in my truck and using it, since the fires here in Oregon the last few years, downed trees in the road all over the place, will make great truck saw. Just my 2 cents. Thank you for the video.
My thought too, truck saw. I'm in Oregon too, but the ice storm was more in my mind. Last resort, use the truck gas, no need to carry separate oil or mix.
If you haven't already, get the tuning screwdrivers and richen up the high and low side. This one starts like my Stihls, two pulls on choke till it pops, turn off choke, starts next pull. You do have to pull it like you mean it, and the small pull handle doesn't help.
Have your local saw shop put on a new, larger pull handle. It's the biggest problem with this saw. The orange handle is too small & has no rubber padding. My shop upgraded it when I had them tune the mixture screws - which it needed pretty bad after 3 hours of cutting. Wouldn't idle. Anyhow, they tuned the screws & put on larger handle for $ 17 out the door. BIG IMPROVEMENT - won't kill your hand. Also, to start easier, slowly pull rope out slightly until past the first compression stroke, then pull is 3x less, and it WILL catch & start. If warm, on the first try. If cold, pre-pimer bulb 5 or 6x plus pull choke, pull once, then push choke in to halfway. Always starts stone cold if done this way. I've also swapped up to Full Synthetic 10/30 motor oil & changed it at 5 hours lots of crust in it - this thing is slowly gaining power - it really pulls in the cut. And that's just with the stock chain, not upgraded or even sharpened yet. What could it do with a skip tooth performance chain ? Our Saw Shop tech wants me to upgrade it he said it will help a lot. He runs a race saw & was pretty impressed - I was the first guy to bring one it but he'd had questions about it. I told him I'd keep him updated on how it runs. I've got 2 wooded acres here in Texas plenty of action all year long....
For the price. For people who are not in the tree business. You can cut your firewood. Heat your house. I paid 118 bucks for one. I have like 16 pro saws. I just wanted a 4stroke. You could pay over 40 bucks to rent a saw. Or pass a hundred bucks away on anything. Nobody is crying here.
Right but it works darn well anyhow. I'm thinking the overhead cam idea could be an upgrade to a future design, but then you'd need to have a tiny itty bitty chain to reach up to drive camshaft. It may very well be that pushrods are perfectly fine. This does have a rev limiter that cuts in - I'm thinking it's set at about 6,500 to 7,000 rpms. But this is making all it's useful TORQUE well before that so really no need to run it faster.
The factory suggests 10w30 oil. The NGC 7599 spark plug will be the correct replacement for the Chinese plug. Also, try using Avigas (aviation fuel) instead of pump gas. By law it mus remain stable for over 2 years so trash like Stabil is not required. Since it has a higher octane rating it will light and burn much more easily.
I'm not burning leaded fuel in anything that exhausts where I breath. 100LL is only low lead when compared to 130 octane standard lead avgas, it's still way more lead than auto gas ever was. I'd pay $20/gal for Tru-Fuel first.
Yeah I bought this fucking saw, without carefully studying the box and I did not see that it was four stroke until I pulled the chainsaw out of the fucking box, and saw a separate oil port instead of mixing the gas I was like oh shit. I got to say this saw is at best going to be a backup and not a reliable one as soon as I can afford a Stihl or Husqvarna two-stroke chainsaw. I got this is a replacement to an old Poulan Woodman 2075 that was a fucking beast but a screw-on the butterfly in the carburetor came loose and was sucked up underneath the piston. Only time I've ever seen something like that happen to a chainsaw I retrieved the screw head, but the screw bar itself was sheared completely off and up underneath the Piston somewhere and it fucked it up and I mean bad. I would give anything for another 2075 that old 2075 didn't even have a chain break on it but it didn't need one when you had your carb adjust properly. And it ran just as good if not better then my papa's Stihl chainsaw, it may not have started all the first pull like the Stihl. But it ran and would cut anything in front of it, they came with a 16" bar and chain but they were able to handle an 18" bar and chain as well, which is what I had on it...this thing sounds weird cuts slowly because the gearing ratio on it is all wrong in my opinion...I should have just got my money back but I figured it might be alright...i was wrong....how do you adjust the carb settings on this P.O.S. that's really all I came here for
Get the adjustment screwdrivers from Amazon, needs to be richer on the high and the low both. Mine would barely stay running with stock tune. You're right, won't replace my Stihls, but for a toy I'm pretty happy with it.
@@zack6892 naw bro I got this saw collecting dust already I took the bar and chain and put it in a 2 stroke Blackhawk that came with a 16" bar, lesson learned on that particular purchase number one pay attention to what the fuck you're buying and number two film by four-stroke fucking chainsaw they suck LoL. I'm a two-stroke motor genius and can get just about anything running but four strokes offered go karts riding mowers and other things but definitely not chainsaws
@@dthundergunb3115 yeah a 4 stroke chainsaw makes no sense lol. They are supposed to be light, powerful and easy to service in the woods a 4 stroke is none of those things haha
I'm interested because, in Ohio, you can't get gas without alcohol in it. Which doesn't mix well for two strokes and causes piston scoring . I buy a used one cause you have worry about some idiot straight gassing it.
Don't feel too bad! This is an interesting oddity, but on the same quality level as any other Chinese saw you'd buy on Ebay or Amazon. You're not missing out on much.
I'm sure that's good practice, I'll have to check the manual and see if it's mentioned. This is a very low stress engine, not much force on anything, and I think the manufacturer is expecting oil mist to lube the rocker arms and such sufficiently. Also, this is strictly a homeowner saw, not meant for pro use and long hours at all. I'll bet 99% of these saws never get 50 hours put on them in their entire lifetime.
Maybe. That saw in the video wound up having some kind of internal issue and glittering the oil, and being replaced under warranty. I don't remember it sounding any different, but you might be hearing whatever that is. I do have the saw still, autopsy video at some point.
@@adambatchelder4121 Right, although no worse than any other sub $200 Chinese saw. Senix was fantastic, and took good care of me, which I wouldn't expect from most other brands.
Do you have this saw ? If so, how is it defiencient ? Please do tell us, precisely. Taking pot shots when you don't own & haven't tested it, is shady. I do own this saw and have used it extensivly - and have owned dozens of Husky, Stihl, Echo & Poulans over the years. This saw is as safe & well designed as ANY Poulan or Craftsman or Husquvarna that I've used. My 'other saw' is a Prosumer Echo MS-590 Timberwolf - which is a whole dimension larger, but sometimes overkill for smaller jobs. Ergo, I bought this Senix 4 Cycle saw out of sheer mechanical curiosity figuring I could return it to Tractor Supply within 30 days if it was a weak saw or had some major flaw. I not only found NO big weaknesses but rather it's a very strong well made & designed unique 'Thumper' saw. Once mixture screws tuned & larger pull handle installed, it's my new favorite.
One difference between yours and mine that I noticed in the video is you got the 16-inch one I got the 18 in one so I went like Ultra crappy LOL I'm just saying mine cutting way fucking slow compared to any 2-stroke chainsaw holyshit. But for real though did you ever find out what kind of oil is stupid thing takes cuz I have not been able to find that fucking info anywhere oh and if you do have the woodcutting video I'd like to see how that 16-inch performs if it's like turtle speed slow like this 18-inch then I won't feel so bad somebody else had to dick around with his dumb thing too haha
I didn't notice on the bottle that it said change after 8 hours. What kind of oil is in this stupid ass chainsaw? If you would have found out please reply with what type of oil this thing fucking takes. As soon as I get a chance I'm going to get the 18 in Walmart two stroke gas chainsaw to replace this stupid thing.
Don’t worry, I seriously doubt if it will still be running at the 8 hour oil change. I had a 4 stroke trimmer and it might have had 4 hours on it before I got tired of working on it.
It might be close to the Stihl homeowner stuff, I have no experience there. It's nowhere close to the pro level stuff, just a completely different ballpark.

If your really in a budget get the holzfforma g255 honestly if it’s not a daily use saw you will probably never have a single issue with it.
Question: are TH-camrs those who keep talking when they obviously don’t know or have anything to say yet keep talking?
If they are, then I qualify!
I'm interested because, in Ohio, you can't get gas without alcohol in it. Which doesn't mix well for two strokes and causes piston scoring . I buy a used one cause you have worry about some idiot straight gassing it.
To bad i can't buy this chainsaw in my country(Romania) i'm really currios about it.
Don't feel too bad! This is an interesting oddity, but on the same quality level as any other Chinese saw you'd buy on Ebay or Amazon. You're not missing out on much.
After so many hours of use you need to lube the rocker arms, valves, pushrods right? There’s no oil pump.
We’re going to run my first one. Not too aggressive. What size chain does it use 325.? Gage? Drive links?
Good video.
@@bill154cub 3/8" low profile. No clue on drive links.
S A L E M Paint Co.!
That was on the work bench when I bought the house. No affiliation on my part.
Sounds like a lot of valve noise.
Maybe. That saw in the video wound up having some kind of internal issue and glittering the oil, and being replaced under warranty. I don't remember it sounding any different, but you might be hearing whatever that is. I do have the saw still, autopsy video at some point.
@@om617yota8 China China, not surprising ugh.
@@adambatchelder4121 Right, although no worse than any other sub $200 Chinese saw. Senix was fantastic, and took good care of me, which I wouldn't expect from most other brands.
This isn’t even homeowners level cheap. This is dangerous. The parts are way too sloppy and homeowner Jones is going to get hurt with it
Do you have this saw ?
@@RamTruckSteeringFix I do own one of these saws.
world smallest push rod engines other than models toy stand running
Emissions sticker says 10w-30.
Don’t worry, I seriously doubt if it will still be running at the 8 hour oil change. I had a 4 stroke trimmer and it might have had 4 hours on it before I got tired of working on it.
Betcha it's as good as any of those overpriced overrated STIHL contraptions .
It might be close to the Stihl homeowner stuff, I have no experience there. It's nowhere close to the pro level stuff, just a completely different ballpark.
Wrong
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you're not a TH-camr? 😂 😆
Haha what gave it away?
