I like this concept actually. Maybe multiple anchors and each one weakens the world until others are born type thing. Would explain how often characters get brought back to life in the comics, its the world trying to protect itself. lol
If the anchors are going to be any characters it's going to be Spiderman and Doctor Strange. The amount of times those 2 characters have shown up in seperate universes cannot be coincidental.
The death of anchors/ Nexus beings causing incursions seems odd to me tbh: 1) how does one person's death affect the entire universe? 2) how does someone get assigned to be their universe's specific anchor? 3) are there multiple anchors throughout history, or do all/ most anchors just exist in the 21st century? If so, does that mean their universe is safe from incursions until that anchor is born?, etc.
What about the universe BEFORE an anchor is even born? That's the question I can't get over with this concept. They'll need to explain that well for me to fully buy into it. About the only way I see it being is that this "mantle" is passed on and an "unnatural" death in the chain would trigger it.
Yeah I agree completely. I guess the best thing to do is just see the movie because I honestly feel like all these theories and “unconfirmed rumors” make me even more confused
I think it's like, the universe will exist before that anchor is born, but that anchor being born basically is like the countdown starting for that universe to be destroyed.
It would explain a lot. Also pretty sure the massive decline post endgame was horrible writing and character with some rare exceptions haha, not magical
This might be a fun game to play. Like who is the anchor of every fictional universe. Who's the anchor of the Looney Toons universe? Bugs? Wile E. Coyote?
I know this has nothing to do with this videos point but I just thought of this while seeing the scene of Tony’s funeral. It is kind of weird that Thor is wearing an earth suit for the funeral. It makes sense that he would have worn some sort of Asgardian funeral attire. Paying his respect and honoring the warrior that Tony had become.
Like Phil Coulson being the Nexus being of 616… Ironman, Thor, Captain Marvel… there is no Avengers. Nick didn’t even know about a skrull except that Coulson was replaced.
Totally Coulson. He was in virtually every Marvel movie until he "Died" then He was behind the scenes for all of phases 2 and 3 then everything started going to hell when he died for real.
I still want to see Arno come into the picture. There was a small scene in Endgame when Tony was talking with his dad. His dad mentioned that his wife was pregnant, but Tony appeared a bit confused by this. Almost as if there is something that didn't quite make sense to Tony's personal timeline.
Part of me wonders if these anchors are not even part of the natural universe and even the TVA doesnt know it. If the rumors of the beyonder showing up are true, what if he’s responsible for making the anchors. Would explain why the universe begins to die once the anchor is gone
*Nope, this has been confirmed with the 30-minute preview of Deadpool and Wolverine ~ Wolverine was the anchor in Logan (2017), which leads to the eventual destruction of Deadpool's Universe ~*
I like this idea, except for one thing... What does that mean for the original interpretation of incursions from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness?
I think Cap and Tony are both the Anchors for the Avengers, IMO. I still don't understand Logan dying when his healing factor is off the scale but I guess I need to read the comics. Thanks for this video. I really enjoyed it.
So I thought this idea sounded awful, it puts too much wait on one character and seems arbitrary. BUT what could work is if the anchor is the variant that causes the branch in each timeline, they would be the anchor of that timeline
Way back when , it was proposed that at some point a blending of Disney, fox Sony marvel worlds would come together. This movie sounds like a Hard reboot of everything that includes the recasting of a lot of heroes
i feel like this 'anchor' is a terrible concept. if this is the direction they are going this way they need to flesh it out differently/ more as it seems sort of nonsensical currently. like a universe only exists for one 'special' person's life...
If thats true than Loki must be the anchor of the MCU. He's literally the one holding all the timelines together. Without him, everything is destroyed. But I really don't like this concept of anchors in general. It reinforces main character syndrome and makes it seem like all the other people in the universe are less important.
Anchors make sense. Alternate timeliness begin because someone wandered from the sacred timeline. That person would be the anchor for that line. Maybe Kang is the anchor for 616 and that's why it is the sacred timeline.
We've seen this before. It's buffy the vampire slayer ("in every generation, one slayer is born, ..."). It was amusing silliness then, but it just seems dumb here.
How did the 616 Universe survive for billions of years before the Anchor was even born? Personally, I believe Marvel is making things up as they go along.
Like this idea, the anchor, but I’m very curious who it is I was thinking, maybe it could be Kang could be the anchor because when he died in the Loki series, everything was in chaos when he died, and it took Loki it to take it over or Wanda could be one too but I do like the idea that Loki and Wanda’s purposes is to live on and not to die it could be a regular person or a side character it doesn’t have to be the main heroes or villains like someone in the background someone who is insignificant, but it turns out there the most important it would be funny if it turns out to be Happy Hogan is the anchor
They have to bring him back with all the trash they have released recently. If they don’t they go deeper in the hole. Bring him back keep the energy at 100 send him back off but replace him with someone just as important. But if they didn’t bring him back let’s be honest we world except it if they tried to implement someone we didn’t know or who haven’t earned it.
I feel like the anchor characters will be wade himself, hence why so many deadpool cameo have been "leaked". maybe wade is supposed to collect wolverines dna to improve his own healing factor
Imagine this epic moment ... Thanos turns out to be the 616 MCU ANCHOR and when he walks in, to the shock of everyone ... queue Brolin, "I am inevitable."
What if its hawkeye he was suppose to die but never did maybe thats a glitch in the system he was suppose to die heaps of times but made it into quicksilver
I think the Cap salute is just a nod to the comics. Because in the Deadpool comics, Wade is a Cap fanboy. And Cap is always trying to put him on a decent path. Their relationship in the comics is entertaining.🤣
Watching Disney try to write themselves out of terrible movie decisions is kind of the whole game at this point. The Sequel Trilogy… the Multiverse Saga… all examples of sagas going terribly wrong… Every subsequent piece of media is just a huge vacuum cleaner erasing their mess
Maybe the anchor is reincarnated at the time of their fated death. If they are killed before that fated death or anchor point it causes an incursion and death of that universe? Just a thought.
What about Deadpool being the anchor and the TVA in the trailer trying to take him and control him? Yea he died in the comics but he is almost immortal as far as the MCU is concerned.
I'd rather they went for a "pillars and beams" concept, instead. Multiple characters are pillars and the more those people die, the weaker the universe gets until it, eventually, collapses. The beams are specific events, which cause disruption to the overall structure and warp it: e.g. Thanos' snap, the death of He Who Remains, Wanda becoming the Scarlet Witch, etc...
It doesn't make sense that it's Tony Stark because the universe hasn't been destroyed yet. And if there are anchor people then obviously they must switch in between different anchors as people are born and die. Otherwise, none of these universes would have futures.
Great video. I guess the joke is Tony Stark as an anchor. Sure I like the story beat, but the premise of him being the little center piece and no one else stood out. Eeeeeh. There is an argument there, but Tony wasn’t why I watched all these.
I think all these multiversal destruction stories are too silly even for comic books. So an entire universe with hundreds of billions of galaxies that has existed for billions of years can be destroyed if you just destroy kill one person? And if you kill that person, all the matter that the person is made of still exists, those atoms existed before the person was born and they will exist after the body decomposes. And even ignoring the law of conservation, does the idea work with storytelling or worldbuilding? Wouldn't you have the Asgardians, Kree, Skrulls, Shi'ar, Phalanx, Eternals, Deviants, Celestials, Galactus, the Phoenix Force, etc. all going to earth to make sure this person isn't harmed?
Hear me out… at the end of Loki season 1 we don’t actually know what the true cause of the timeline branching is when he who remains is explaining his gambit to Loki and Sylvie before they have to make the choice of killing HWR or leading the TVA and HWR stepping down… in the timeline book they place the timeline branching event after Tony Stark’s funeral and Captain America’s choice to stay in 1940’s, and maybe that might be the real reason the timelines started branching because Tony’s death was cemented at his funeral (no one wanting to change his death or alter history) and perhaps even Captain America not existing on the timeline anymore getting his alternate timeline with Peggy meaning maybe there are certainly no “anchor(s)” anymore???? IMO I think it’s a combination of Tony and Steve being the duo of the MCU and now the only one left of the main trio is Thor so maybe HIS death would kick off Secret Wars and the destruction of the main MCU (616/199999) and merge it with all other destroyed alternate universes into an amalgamated barren wasteland scape AKA… THE VOID…? Anchor possibility from the x-men animated series… (sorry but I don’t have Disney +, so I can’t look it up). At the end of “Beyond good and evil”, Apocalypse had almost won, but Wolverine messed up his plan.

Yeah good point

That secret wars comic was in the void. I took it that they've cancelled it.
Only halfway through, and maybe you’ll get to this, but so far, that makes it feel like the anchor would very clearly have been Tony Stark
Aaron Stanford has done enough to hold a universe together, only to be the one that was ripping it apart.
Yep, I knew it, Bruce Campbell is a Cosmic Anchor. Any universe without him in It is doomed.😊
