Same. Over the years I've gotten away from these older, simple cars and into a Cadillac ATS-V at the moment. My cadillac is easily the best car I've ever had on paper. It's comfy, fast in a straight line, fast around corners, etc. Still, it feels like there's something missing. In the next year or so I'm probably going to start building an EK or EG hatch as a track car. There's just something special about these older cars.

I don’t know. A lotus Elise is very similar I would think in power to weight. Elise would be a bit lower power but a bit lower weight. So pretty similar except rear wheel drive and mid engined.

I remind me of the first car I bought brand-new and drove it for 300,000km before trading it in. It was also a 98 Civic Hatchback with Eibach and Koni Shocks. However, I had upper and lower rear strut bars to tweak dynamics. Back then, I never understood that you had to brake deep into the turns to compensate for the under-steer cause the Civic's front double-wishbone suspension would compensate..even in the worst situation, where the car should be swapping ends, it somehow still steer in the direction I pointed it. That 98 Hatch setup was like art in motion (with no need of electronics)...wish the manufacturers could bring this back.
Go a little softer on the front bar and it will be faster around the corners I think. 650# springs is typically the upper limit of those Koni Yellows unless they are specially valved or the SPSS. The big front bar might be over powering the dampers a little and helping cause a little loss of traction.

There is actually a team that raced in the One Lap of America series that used to race a CRX with a k series and swapped to a miata with a K series and started to break track records for their class with the miata. They literally called it "the best chassis with the best motor for road racing." A fully purpose built CRX track car should actually be faster than a civic in theory and practice because the chassis is lighter. The balance of a properly setup 50/50 weight distribution miata with a k series is a force to be reckond with.

My DC2 had a similar setup but with a 200whp B20V and NT01. They are a true mans car, just send it deep, deep into the brake zone, crank the wheel and VTEC out! I’m sure you take down high HP cars just by braking late.
I’ve ran Rota slipstreams over here in Cali at chuckwalla after 3 laps I had one of the wheels fail on me and get bent on one of the five spokes. Was really scary. Just sharing my experience, I’ve ran them before and never had an issue until that day. Maybe it was just my bad luck 🤷🏻♂️🤙🏼 looks tons of fun 🙌🏼
ZepolFilms sucks that happened! I’ve been running Rota wheels for years with no issues. We just added 15x9 Rotas to our car and they have held up fine. Could have been an anomaly.

K-swaps are dummy reliable and easy to do enough that just taping it together would last longer than your modern day bmw lol. Homeboy either did something wrong (which is unlikely), or he’s just a tad too snowflake for what it is. Great build imo

It's not hard to drive it's more getting used to the new car behavior I swapped my engine car for a b18c Outside being slightly heavier and being slightly sloppier in cornering it's pretty ok as a daily
FA-AJN I daily drove the car for two years. Like most Honda’s the car was (and still is) very reliable and was also great on gas. But it is not fun when you are stuck in traffic for 2 hours a day with no AC, stiff suspension, loud exhaust, etc. It’s fun as heck though! Also can’t park the car outside without worrying about theft.

Tried two Hondas so far (a early K20 swapped EK and a B18CR Integra), really makes me want to get rid of the Miata not gonna lie lol... They're just as fun but sounds 10x better, and they're WAY faster for the same price. More rear springs and staggered tyres would make this car a winner :)
Another cheaper budget build for the track would be the last generation Prelude. Hatchs' are primo but bro taxed to hell while Preludes are still a capable chasis and fun to drive.
doesnt really matter what motor it is... really more like how he has no power steering or ac or a a chair that cant recline becuase its a bucket /race car and loud exhuast that will get stopped by police....too a regular person that doesnt sound like a its setup for daily comfort does it? want a nice daily? maybe an acura it has all the features for a comfy daily ... leave the track car for whats it built for.... racing....
The Succ the car is quite reliable and fantastic for a *dependable* daily driver but it lacks the creature comforts that make it a real daily driver for all seasons. I do miss driving it every day, but I’m infinitely happier with the direction the car has taken now. We still enjoy our 8th Gen Civic Si for a daily though ;)

EG and EK’s have always been the best track cars. Between the 911 series and 90’s civics are some of the best track sports cars ever made.

Ek/eg hatch with k20/b series is pretty touch to beat. Unbelieviable fun cars to drive at the track.

Oh it's a very reliable engine, but Kaval's car has very stiff mounts in it and a 3'' exhaust so it's loud and pretty harsh on the street.
