can you talk about how they calculate your rank base on your years of experience? If I have 2-3 years of experience what would be my rank going in? can you talk about COT and talk about your commission and when you found out your first orders? thanks and congratulations!
Ranks are based on your degree. If you come in with BSN you will be 2Lt, MSN like will be 1LT. I know people with doctorate start straight from Captain. COT is 8 weeks. You received your 1st orders as soon as you are selected with the dates for COT and when when to report to 1st station
@@maracg Yes they do count and give you credit for your civilian experience. I know for sure they will give you credit for only hospital experience but not like working on nursing home or Corrections
I stumbled upon your channel not long ago and loved it since then. I have something to ask you wonder if you can help me out. So I tried to reach out to AFROTC trying to join but haven’t heard anything back from them. I assumed that since I’m 29 now I think it might be too late to join. I am on my way to getting my BSN, do you think I can commission as a new grad? And what areas do you think is appropriate for me to do first? Congratulations Angel 🥰
Hello! Thanks so much for the support. You can most definitely commission as a new grad. It is what I recommend. Depending on how much longer you have till graduation I recommend contacting a Health professions recruiter in your area. I’d recommend Med Surg. It’s a good introduction to military nursing and it doesn’t limit your options for joining other specialties in the future e.g critical care, OR etc. it’s a grind but definitely a good start in my opinion. Good luck to you dear.

@@danieladjei7415 they do count your years of experience as a civilian nurse though….that’s more of what I’m asking

@@danieladjei7415 I’m aware. I think she said 6 months of civilian nursing counts as 1 year in?
