Even before watching i can tell its gonna help me. I was having trouble with Vibrato and after watching your Videos I have improved significantly! Thnx
I just wanna say that ive been watching your vocal exercise videos for about 4-5 years now and my voice has improved soooo much so thank you so much for this channel and for the videos you post!!
Ever since I have found your videos on TH-cam, I have learnt and understood singing so much better. I think all this needs to be a pre-requisite before one starts singing. Even though I learn Indian (Hindustani) Classical vocals I have benefited immensely from your videos. Also, you are a very good teacher. You explain everything with an example and that really makes things simple to understand. Very grateful for this free content shared here. Thank you. Hope to learn personally from you some day.
At first, I thought the raspberry trill was impossible for me to do. I couldn’t do it no matter what I do or how hard I tried. I was really frustrated and felt like stopping. But I kept at it for a week or so and without even noticing, I was doing the raspberry trill. I mean I still struggled here and there at first but after practicing for a few weeks now, it’s almost second nature to me.
For those that are still having trouble getting it down, do that same breathing tree exercise then try again. Also, thank you so much for these videos. My whole childhood I barely spoke in turn that affected me being able to speak properly when I became an adult. I was always guilty of straining my throat just to be able to utter some words people could barely make out. I'm glad I found this channel. The difference I noticed in my voice now, is night and day. Thank you again for making these videos.
I wonder how many people really understand the profoundly positive effect this can have on one’s vocal ability. I seriously can’t believe you are giving this information away for free. I really need to commit to the 2nd singing course I bought from you months ago. I practice singing all the time but if I put effort into learning what you are teaching my practice would actually get me somewhere. Thank you Eric and Mike!! You are heroes in my eyes.
All I can say is thank you for these videos! Have only tried today but already noticed a huge difference in the sound of my voice! Looking forward to gaining a better understanding with time! Thanks! xxox
hard work always pays off in the end you will thank him. its been just a week and this teaching has helped me so much. did we tell our teacher at school to stop teaching us because its to hard no. So lets do this
Going up doing the raspberry is fairly easy, but decreasing feels near impossible! I do feel my voice is clearer now, though. Just have to keep working at it.
Thank you so much! I LOVE the concept of "rooting." Answer to a prayer! I do ballet so rooting makes sooo much sense for me. And knowing now to stay lifted IS the connection between ballet placement and sound production. I needed someone to "say it" and your explanation couldn't be clearer. Thank you!
I was so much better at the raspberry trill when I was a child... Wish I was told as a kid that my weird noises are beneficial for my singing voice.. 😂 Love these online lessons, just recently started tuning in and can't wait to be stronger!
I CANNOT believe it! Your comment was the key for me. I was trying so hard to do it I couldn’t, until I read what you wrote and pictured myself as a child doing it to people that annoyed me and I INSTANTLY became able to do it 😅 a huge thank you!
Your videos have helped me soo much. Iwill continue to practice each and everyday. The warmups are starting to show up when i sing, its the little things that count the most.
The tongue trill is so hard too do. so I'ma work hard on it. Even though I'm having trouble keeping it going, I already feel more open. so thank you very much for this video Eric!!! I'm working hard on it ;).
It took me a while to be able to really get this down. I just kind of detached myself from time and decided to be present and just empty my brain allowing your instruction to guide me. That helped me so much to get this down. I had to work at it patiently for a while but oh my goodness has it helped with my singing. Also with speaking. Thank you very much for this!! I've also been doing the 360 breathing exercises even on days where I am resting my voice for 90 days straight. Sometimes I'll do them in public as I am waiting in line at a store. Or I'll do the hiss for 40 seconds. I feel like there has been such a huge weight off of my voice. Notes or songs that were so hard before now some of them feel so free so I can communicate the emotion of the song I am singing way better than before. Thank you thank you!!!!!
Deanna Lauren wo such a cool vibe from you! How has it improved you singing now ? I mean do you still do you, as a permanent train or its not usefull anymore?😊
This is such a late comment but I have to say, I don't often find these exercises challenging but this one took work for sure. And let me tell you, it felt so good when I got it. That loud to soft was no joke. Thanks for teaching me something new and helping me step up my game!
Omg I got it!!! I thought it was gonna take me forever to learn this because I this is my first time learning how to blow a raspberry! At first it was very challenging but the thing that clicked for me was when my friend told me that I have to bite down on my tongue (out & over lower lip) with my top and bottom teeth while cheeks puffed, air comes out from the bottom. Once I got the raspberry then I added the sound, at first very low like a motor then the more I relax the tongue and expand the rib cage like Eric suggest the sound got a lot better :). Woohoo!!
I love how you respond to your comments. Im new to your videos and hoping I can perfect my voice eventually. I took up meditation about 5 months ago so thats been keeping me focused and driven!!! Thank you for wanting to uplift ppl and help rather than being ONLY about the dollar. You my friend are a blessing to this world
Eric I've been enjoying so much your videos. I know I got late to the classroom but still I just wanna tell you your lessons are amazing. I'm super excited to discover what my voice can do. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
I am SO THANKFUL to come across your videos! Trying to regain my confidence back from years of being stifled has been a journey within itself. Singing has definitely become my therapy and learning how to fine tune and utilize my whole body and not just my throat is new, but equally exciting! A lot of these breathing techniques are similar to those used in meditation and yoga which helps me feel comfortable and encouraged. Your personality is a big help as well, I'm subscribing! Lol! Peace & Love.
I have been following you and watching the videos you make for almost 2 years now. I have 3 children at 24 years old and work full time. so funding, and time.. is two reasons I haven't gotten professional voice lessons. I grew up never meeting my father and my mother was always working. singing was an escape for me and in a weird way gave me the love feeling I feel I didn't get as a child. I have progressed so much from where I was just from watching your free videos. thank you so much! you put a lot of effort into your videos and helping others. I appreciate you so much and maybe one day will follow my dream of going for the voice or Americas got talent and really trying to give myself a shot at doing what I love most, connecting through music. much respect n love, Ryan
I'm so very grateful for your remedial approach and explanations for these exercises and concepts. I've heard them for many years and only now do I understand them. thank you!
Hey Eric. This is probably the second day I'm trying the the rill it's difficulty but I've been practicing your breathing excerise for a month now and through this video the 2nd time trying I just listen to you as you said just relax and tell the throat "to let go" I did, and I hit a G5 with ease. I'm feeling a release in my thoart and a sensation in my stomach area. Thanks so much.
I CANNOT believe the difference after watching these 2 videos. It was like a light bulb went off and im doing so many things i couldnt do before. Always room for improvement of course no doubt, but i wamt to thank u so much for these free lessons!
Just found your video. I've been singing karaoke in my home for about 2 years now. I started off knowing nothing and have learned quite a bit through trial and error and listening to my own audio recordings to see where I need to make improvements. I came here to find out what it is that I still don't know. I stumbled into learning body volume control recently because I didn't like the lack of fullness in my voice when I'd listen back to the audio recordings that I made. I taught myself to open and relax the entire esophagus, chest and throat area so that I could access a more full sounding range in my vocals. *One thing that I noticed when do this is that my overall low and high range increased dramatically.* I was lucky if I could complete a 2nd tenor karaoke song effortlessly. Now, 1st tenor is easy for me because of the very exercises outlined in this video. Songs that I had written off as impossible for me to ever sing are being dredged back up for another go. Most of these songs, I can now sing without a struggle. Some are now simply a matter of voice strengthening and I'm hoping within 3 to 6 months, I will have conquered those songs as well. My daughter is a lead singer is a classic rock and grunge band. She's been taking vocal lessons for about 9 months. I've been teaching her recently how to access more fullness in her singing. She's now able to sing many more songs in the lower ranges that were previously past her breaking point and never believed that she could sing before. I'm seriously surprised at how many actual vocal coaches *DONT* teach this to vocal students...? It blows me away. This should literally be vocals 101 right after warm-ups. Amazing voice btw. I look forward to using your lessons on a constant basis in the future.
You are awesome. I found you a couple of weeks ago and have been trying out your techniques, including what you demonstrate in this video. I had a gig Friday night, I sounded better than ever. I even hit Bobby's high parts on the Toto tunes we do near flawlessly, without straining or wearing out my voice, and I'm a baritone. Thank you!
Great Video and great Lesson!!! After I did the excercise I FEEL A LOT OF RESONANCE!! I mean seriously it is like never Before, now I just need to use the same emission technique whenever I want my voice to sound more powerful. Thanks a lot, Eric If I Become famous I will give the credit to all the teachers that I learned from!!
I've watched this before and was caught up in other vocal exercises but after about 15 minutes I started seeing some results, as in able to raise and lower pitch and it felt like a good throat massage. No doubt with continued practice this will improve. Thanks, man.
Damn it's crazy how people want to cheat after doing this for one day I have felt a major difference in my voice and how I sing so just think of if you do these for a week how good you can actually be it's the getting it down pack part that needs the practice if u want to be good at what you do it doesn't come easy! There is no easy way out of anything you will just find yourself taking the long way out
Lol what the heck? I figured the raspberries out in minutes. Like he said it's ALL in the diaphragm. Like no joke. Makes sure your stomach is going on and you're breathing correctly.
You guys are awesome. As a self taught singer- learning bits n pieces here and there - and having used my previous experience as a dancer as well as yoga instructor - I was FLOORED to find out today that.. I haven't been messing up!!! I mean - I'm shocked! And today I tripped over something and had to take a day off from my workout while icing my knee lol - I saw these advanced videos and honestly - I'm just relieved that I haven't been doing anything to hurt my voice! THANK YOU SO MUCH! I mean that with my whole heart !! Also you are Great human beings!!!! Your personality Eric is adorable!!! I love you!!! And Mike you too!!! I'm so touched by your generosity - education was something that saved my childhood so teachers are tops in my estimation - I love you both! 🌊🐬🌊 Thank you for setting my mind at ease and encouraging me to continue my journey 💗 ps the raspberry trill - that's the hardest ! And it really WAS a mini workout on a day I was icing that knee + pissed off at missing a workout! Double-bonus!! I'm going to walk around with these raspberries ( looking nuttier than usual 😜) till I do them better! Thank you!
This video was great! Something is simple made a nice difference in my voice very quickly. I sang a short line of a song and instantly noticed I sound smoother and more clear thank you!
I will be doing raspberry trills for my main exercise now thank you dude! It took me about 15 mint to get it. For people reading don't get discouraged this is advanced! You have to have the basics down before doing this.
hi Eric , you are a fantastic teacher I am a big fan your exercises they help me a lot I am not a quitter and some of your excercise are really hard and after I finnally mastered the rasberry trill .
I just sang twinkle twinkle little star, I know my vocal cords got better about a year ago when I was in college and I sang at a talent show. But my vocal cords actually progressed and gotten a lot more better since I’ve been taking these vocal exercises and along with the other vocal exercises I took in! :-) This is really improving me, thank you so much! :-) These are amazing videos and I would suggest them to anyone who wants to be a singer!
Hey so I just want to add that this helps with getting Clarity when you project your voice. I'm a singer but I'm also a political activist and at a protest we chant and we chant very loudly. I found, after years of doing this, that the chanting started to damage my capacity to sing and eventually my capacity to chant. Knowing where to draw your breath and your control makes even chanting at the top of your lungs take a lesser toll on your vocal health.
This raspberry trill is much easier than the lip trill which, for me, is choppy and difficult to sustain evenly. Thank you for all of this detailed instruction very much.
These seems like lessons similar to phase 2... interesting. Might even be a bit more detailed. I do have the body connection. Since i worked with your udemy courses. It's a really cool sensation. Feels like your body has your back "i gotchu you bruh". The descrendo on a raspberry on the way back it's definitely not easy though - i'll work on that.
The raspberry trill is definitely a Phase 2 technique, but - as you know - there's a lot more to body connection than just trilling. And, for the extra stuff, they'll have to get the course. I'm a nice guy, but I'm not THAT nice 😅. lol
EricArceneaux Lol - for sure eric - this videos were great though - introducing people to the concept of body connection is a kind gesture. Since to my experience i haven't seen a series on it on youtube yet.
Yay!!!! Today was my first moment of getting ANY raspberry trill at all ! LOL!!!! everything has been so easy it's been fun to find something I can't do and try to overcome obstacles ... . I'm just now starting the very first moments of baby steps in raspberry trill ....thanks so much 💕OMG !!!! I did a sustained one !!! It helped to be more at the front of my teeth for now ... Just walked through the house so thrilled to tell my partner he thinks crazy yay I'm thrilled to finally be raspberry trilled !! I need a raspberry beret! 💜☔
Thank you Eric so so much for all of these lessons it all has inproved my singing so so much i still can't believe how much even when im singing i am so amazed at how much it has changed. There aren't words to describe how thankful i am especially since i love singing but can't afford someone like you. Also you have a beautiful voice and thank you for showing us the raspberry thrill and god bless you for helping people like us :)
I couldn't do it. I couldn't do the tongue rolls either, but I kept trying. Then after just relaxing and not thinking about it, I was able to do it. Lying on my back and relaxing helped me with the tongue rolls. I couldn't do the lip trills, but simply relaxing and experimenting until I found a way to do it helped.

Timestamps for my future self (also I will be back for sure because OMG I need this. Finally starting to get it after one pass through the video and lots of pausing):

damn man u are just so good at teaching I wish you the best and thx a lot
Thanks! Glad I could help!
My rasberry trill sounds like a car!😂
I'll just keep on trying...
Exercises produce superb results. I sing again after 2 strokes. You are my vocal coach for life. Thank You!! Big hugs to you
Ever since I have found your videos on TH-cam, I have learnt and understood singing so much better.
Is it normal for spit to go everywhere during the raspberry trill?
😅 Unfortunately... yes. But, with time and practice, that aspect of the exercise will lessen significantly.
EricArceneaux lmao
Haha same for me spit went all over, its fun though
Hahaha, that's what happens with me..
@Leo Tong Very funny but true question bro!
#Amazing advice with every time Dr. Arceneaux speaks! =)
there is spit aaaaaaaaaallllllllllllll over the screen of my laptop!!!
same here lmao
"Let go. Give yourself permission to feel something new." ...wow, I really love that.
This technique is a definite challenge but I love it! Thanks Eric!
I have been watching these videos for years, I appreciate this!
You are the greatest teacher i have ever found here. Thank you so much !!!
Thank you!
My voice has gotten so much better Eric, in just a few weeks! Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom. I am a huge fan!
my choir director showed me your channel and since then youv helped me out alot!
I was so much better at the raspberry trill when I was a child... Wish I was told as a kid that my weird noises are beneficial for my singing voice.. 😂 Love these online lessons, just recently started tuning in and can't wait to be stronger!
How is your voice after a year?
I CANNOT believe it! Your comment was the key for me. I was trying so hard to do it I couldn’t, until I read what you wrote and pictured myself as a child doing it to people that annoyed me and I INSTANTLY became able to do it 😅 a huge thank you!
Your videos have helped me soo much. Iwill continue to practice each and everyday. The warmups are starting to show up when i sing, its the little things that count the most.
I was not aware that rapberry trilling was a vocal exercise. Started doing it a few weeks ago because I could not do the tongue trill.
Woohoo!!
reSunator Chang this totally helped😭😭😭
reSunator Chang great tip! I got your advise and immediately did that much easily, great thx!
Shit yessssssss.....I love you....thank you
My goodness you’re the best teacher I have ever seen. And that’s a True fact
//I've been following your class for over a year. Thank you Eric. You are the industry standard. Great work!
Wow Eric it's so great to see a video from you Eric! You still sound amazing after all these years!!!!
I never knew that “this” was useful :D i do this quite a lot to my cat who then in return looks at me in disbelief and shock - “human, you okay?”
Yeahhhhhhhh i did it💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻 after so much saliva distribution😂😂😂😂😩
U're just a gift from God
*One thing that I noticed when do this is that my overall low and high range increased dramatically.*
I was lucky if I could complete a 2nd tenor karaoke song effortlessly.
It takes me three days to practice this vocal workout. Thanks Eric.
I had Leora as a coach, and we always did this every single lesson 😂
This is same like for opera singers. Great videos and clear explanations.
Love that "Creep" Radiohead intro. Great video!
Damn it's crazy how people want to cheat after doing this for one day I have felt a major difference in my voice and how I sing so just think of if you do these for a week how good you can actually be it's the getting it down pack part that needs the practice if u want to be good at what you do it doesn't come easy! There is no easy way out of anything you will just find yourself taking the long way out
Thank you sooooo much for instilling your wisdom and helping this world be better for others. You are inspiring!
Lol what the heck? I figured the raspberries out in minutes. Like he said it's ALL in the diaphragm. Like no joke. Makes sure your stomach is going on and you're breathing correctly.
Desiring to learn is very important! Thanks for your videos. It's a process, indeed. I'm learning. God bless you! 💪
When I did the trill from soft to loud, when I was loud I sound like Chewbacca
How far out should my tongue be when doing the raspberry trill?
Is your tongue supposed to trill or just your lips?
Thank you!
Outstanding Eric.
Amazing exercise! Thank you
This video was great! Something is simple made a nice difference in my voice very quickly. I sang a short line of a song and instantly noticed I sound smoother and more clear thank you!
I LOVE THESE VIDEOS! Thanks!
Thanks for thinking of the little people! You're awesome
This is great! Good voice! Very talented! Keep up the good work, never give up!
You are an amazing teacher, Eric! Thank you!
Greetings from Indonesia 🤗
What a good tips
Now I'm subscribing your Channel
I will be doing raspberry trills for my main exercise now thank you dude! It took me about 15 mint to get it. For people reading don't get discouraged this is advanced! You have to have the basics down before doing this.
hi Eric , you are a fantastic teacher I am a big fan your exercises they help me a lot I am not a quitter and some of your excercise are really hard and after I finnally mastered the rasberry trill .
Aw man, just as I was getting into Creep the lesson started!!
Thank You Eric, and Yes doing lip trills still are a problem for me and so is these trils.. I am willing to keep at it to get better!
Me: I think I'm ready for the next stage now
Raspberry trills: nah bitch go back to the warm up
I remember I did a course with you and you thought my girl was a puppy in the background because of her hair lmao
Woohoo!!! Didn't think I'd get it but totally did in 3 minutes! Just had to relax (I pretended I was falling asleep and then it worked!) Ty Eric!!!
Eric can you please please put up more lessons like this one that would be great.
Really appreciate your style, opened my eyes to some things I never knew!! Thanks heaps!! 💚
Eric, you are amazing!!! The exercise was easy for me. I could feel it work. Thanks.
Just a quick thing I personally found, I have a bit of an underbite and consciously correcting my jaw position has helped quite a bit.
ty for all these amazing tips now i can sing while i play the guitar and it wound sound soooooo bad i thank you for that
Thank you Eric so so much for all of these lessons it all has inproved my singing so so much i still can't believe how much even when im singing i am so amazed at how much it has changed. There aren't words to describe how thankful i am especially since i love singing but can't afford someone like you. Also you have a beautiful voice and thank you for showing us the raspberry thrill and god bless you for helping people like us :)
Excellent. As soon as I let my ribs collapse in, the raspberry cuts out! Excellent test of technique.
