    Shared this on Instagram, and many of you have requested repeatedly that I also repost these IGTV vertical vids here on TH-cam as well. So I’ll keep posting these in between the full-production lesson vids, especially during this quarantine time 👍🏽

      @@ericarceneaux I actually took a handful of lessons from a trained Opera singer, and one of the things he taught me is what you said about V-ing the chest, controlling the soft palate, and letting my natural deep breaths dictate my posture. I really love to sing, and my voice is slowly improving over time. Glad I could find a resource like yours. I'm Cuban and actually look like you a bit, cool to see another bro who loves to sing.
      And hey, I can't think of a more fun thing to do during quarantine than sing 🤘

    Within few weeks just by doing some of the exercices you have teached me through your videos I have improved more than with my teacher for a year. Seem that soon we'll have to change the roles. The way you explain things makes me understand what happens in my body while breathing, speaking, singing and actually how to train different muscles that i was never aware of, they do actually take part in everything. Knowledge and persistence is a key. Thank you, great job =)

    Hey I have a question I haven’t been able to find any answers for. What is the cause of voice breaking and I’m not talking going from chest to head voice it can be low or high or “comfortable” register but it kinda almost breaks like when guys go through puberty and their voice suddenly breaks from high to low or vice versa (I’m a girl so it’s not a factor). Is this vocal strength and control or just that you’re out of practice?
    Love your channel! ☺️

      @Vic2rycryptoquests 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No u haven't mia. is just that u neglected your chest voice for a long time so it seems dificult when trying to sing with it but when u sing with it more often little by little u'll begin to gain muscle strength..I also think Eric arcenaux's breathing vids and other videos as well would help..so i recommend starting to know how u sound first of all with your chest voice then u build from there..you'll be amazed how ur voice comes back fuller and stronger..please dont force it, let it come naturally with practice..Eric always emhpasize this.

    💙 Hey! Thanks for posting these vids, they really help! I do have a question for you though... even after I do vocal warmups, my throat usually always feels pretty tight, like to the point of hurting a bit. Do you know what might be causing vocal stress like that?

    • @ericarceneaux
      @ericarceneaux  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Your throat muscles are being chronically engaged and overworked. Make sure that you're listening to your body and respecting its current limitations; there's a tendency amongst singers to ignore early warning signs of strain due to an overriding focus on "hitting the note". I suspect you're likely practicing much higher and louder than you need to (which is a very common--easily fixable--mistake). The main issue, however, is that there's a lack of healthy body connection when you sing. The techniques in this video, if practiced daily, should work wonders in releasing that built up throat tension. But also make sure to check out the techniques in Part 2 of this series (th-cam.com/video/0yfteLMoWYM/w-d-xo.html ); I suspect it'll be the remedy you're looking for, as it's all about learning to put the stress on the proper muscles 🙂

      💜 Thank you so much! I will try all that you suggested😄
      P.S. I watched your warmup videos th-cam.com/play/PLA5COi4BROahh0GxeO7QR6K6IuFTF7B_q.html when I was singing in my church for the first time (which was also my first time singing in public) and those videos were literally exactly what I needed at that time. It gave me more confidence that my voice was healthy and ready to sing! I want to thank you for that because it was the biggest deal to me then. Considering it was my first time singing in public and I’ve never had professional vocal training, I can admit that it did not sound the best. But I would love it so much if you could listen to it because you were the person who helped give me courage during this song.😊 Here’s a link to the video I sang in if you want to hear the song, but I know you are busy with your videos, so it’s absolutely fine if you are unable to! Again, thank you very much!
      th-cam.com/video/c3EUTfgaIMI/w-d-xo.html
      P.S. Also, the piece of paper I’m holding in the video is a list of the warmups you talked about in your videos😂 That helped me stay more focused👍

    Hi Eric, great video! I have a question. When I do these breathing exercises, I feel a slight discomfort in the top to mid back of my throat. When I breathe that way and sing, I feel the same type of discomfort. Is this good? I feel like I am trainging my soft pallet, but I'm not sure.
