With the second property, there are too many structures to upgrade and maintain. This is especially true for a couple in retirement who will only age further.
Thanks...this is a really interesting point...I think you are right...and it seems to me the French have a lot more blasè attitude towards asbestos in general.
@@badseedbrighton46 we were going to buy a farm that had asbestos roof …it was brought up in the survey and the costs to have it removed are quite high , and you have to think about dust ..because that’s the dangerous bit , we wish you well 😀
@@badseedbrighton46 Not true, we are very strict about asbestos and it's removal. Having said that, it is not mandatory to remove an asbestos roof if it is in good condition, something that is checked in every survey. You also get a lot of cement fibre roofs that look similar, can't tell from the photos. You do receive a full report on wiring, drainage, lead, asbestos, termites and energy rating etc before you sign and that is all paid for by the seller. I live very near to Vire and Sourdeval , been here 20 years and it's a wonderful area to live. I can recommend Suzanne in France estate agency based in Sourdeval, (she's on you tube), excellent agent.
Thanks for the feedback...I'm not an agent nor have I visited the properties...what I'm offering here is a comparison between 2 similarly priced properties based on scant detail. In the future I will be visiting properties with a view to purchase and will try to give more empirical data...hopefully, l think. 😉

As a matter of interest...how big a roof and what was the quote?
@@badseedbrighton46 can’t quite remember….but it was enough to derail the sale ….
