This was a lovely share. Thanks for the recipes!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Loved your recipes, thanks. A very happy Christmas to you .x
WEll an old man that can cook for himself will be a big hit in any French Village, I wish you a happy Christmas and New Year . new Year is always a good period to look for property when everyone has there pants down , thats the time to make your move,
Joyeux Noël à vous aussi Badseed ! Merci pour les recettes !
Avoid this one, A collection of odd houses that nobody wants, to have a right of way between the properties will make it impossible to re-sell, Oil to fill your radiators cost so much now . Everybody is going electric with a wood burner, The good point would be if you lived in one property and rented the other 2 out, There is more better property out there for that money. I have problem neighbours from UK. No problem with the French people. Living in France now it costs 42 Euros for a 13kg gas bottle for the gas fire, Dont spend all your UK house price money on a house in France keep a large amount of capital back, Avoid this at all costs from living in France I can see the future problems with this,
@Jean-MarcBordeaux really invaluable comment...merci...have to say ...for me oil fired heating is a big no.
I love this one! Agree that having both property and a village is helpful and a nice combo. We moved to a very rural area for retirement (USA), and while we have no houses anywhere near us, services (including a brand new hospital) are less than 15 minutes away (and Emergency Services can get here in 12 minutes...don't ask how we know that, lol). Early on we met an older farmer born and raised in the area who helped us immensely and remains a great friend to this day. (We're talking all English speaking of course, but yes no matter where you are it does help to meet people who might be of assistance!)
Also - agree that making the bath into one room if possible would be an improvement. Otherwise it seems like the main living areas are in good shape, and you don't really need all the other rooms (but our property has two large outbuildings (plus a big garage) and somehow we manage to fill/make us of those🤣).
Hi, 1:30 : PAS de voisins in french... Very nice and cute ! A very good opportunity ! It becomes more and more difficult to find so much land and at that price. Are you sure the roofs are in good condition ? That's my only concern about that property. And I think you'll be happy to have the fireplace when fuel and propane will have become too expensive...
@AmieAnge merci beaucoup...cant be definiteabout the roof...totally agree regarding fuel...would love wood sufficiency ...wait till you see the next property...if it is still available...incroyable!
@@badseedbrighton46 I can't wait... 🤪 Unfortunately, Normandy is not really the right place to be wood sufficient but I may be wrong... I sincerely hope you'll find your paradise.
B rooms have to be 9ms to be classified as such.
Well presented bedrooms 😂😂😂😂
@ajones8699 lol...crazy isn't it...I think l incorrectly said the house was empty...obviously not
More work than this 74-year old is willing to invest. But it does have a lot of potential..
The Americans are moving to France in huge numbers now TRump has been related. The house looks ok, but I looked at a similar house the bedrooms was alot smaller in real life compared to the pictures and the beams in the area to be renovated in front of the downstairs wooden doors the area you highlighted in yellow, If you look closely you see chunks are missing from the beams this could be due to moister to stop any further deuteriations you would have to get that chemically treated. The roof beams look good but you have to look in person just to make sure, Merci
actually looks great, just needs work.
The "teardrop" mark on the wall is the wallpaper peeling back . looks like they have tried to paper over the stone.
interesting i like the format. I do my own renovations in Newfoundland. I don't think i would in France. I would take the first house
"They're not quite like for like" - err... no, not quite. One is in move-in condition, the other is a practically derelict money pit that would take years to renovate.
@digidol52 sorry...my point was short distance from each other...similar footprint and plot size. ✌️
Look up Green Acres France for property, bought my house via them
I have a house in France, took a large loan to do a complete refurbishment, paid the builder upfront as i travel Europe with work. 4 years later house is destroyed, lawyer getting nowhere. Bailiffs confirmed work not done, have a quote to repair double original quote. Cannot live there, be careful of contractors. I am happy to send you proof if needed and provide the name. My home is near Lure.
@@steveford2626 wow...that's just awful and a warning to us all. Hope you get the best possible outcome one day.

The first property is my friend's house. It's rare to find a property in this area in such good condition. It's priced to sell. It was never in the parlous state of the second. The second property is in an unpopular area. Good luck to all house hunters.
@FrugalQueeninFrance thank you...very interesting points you make. ✌️
@ when you consider that one of those pellet burners gives central heating, plus the land, plus the quality of the kitchen and bathrooms and its tiled, they're giving it away. It's also permitted to keep animals there.
Love your channel BTW...I'm planning on a slow frugal lifestyle
@ you'll need to be frugal, France is expensive
@FrugalQueeninFrance Solar power is a must for me...hydro is my dream...and then the plan is to rear or grow what goes on the table. 🍽
Hi, I wrote you a comment the day you published this video but can't find it anymore. Did you delete it or is it YT maybe ? I gave you a real estate website. I'd like to know, thanks.

@@badseedbrighton46 My comment is deleted each time I write the website address I wanted to suggest you !!! Damned YT ! And unfortunately no email address where to contact you... 😪
Your pronunciation of the town nane is awful, it's rare to see a property offered in such ready to move in to state here.
Lol...l can't argue about my pronunciation...fair point well made.
Your channel just popped up so I clicked, and then the bench broke and you didn't even spill your beer🤣 so I'll stick around👍
@rediviva thank you...but tbh it's all downhill from then on ...God only knows how l never killed our cat that day. ✌️
We moved to France in 2017, from East Sussex. We live in the Mayenne, much cheaper than normandy or Brittany and we always travel from Newhaven to Dieppe
Thanks...yes...I love the Eurotunnel but for us in this part of the world heading your way then Newhaven is a great option. ✌️
I would avoid the anything like the 2nd property that is so seriously overpriced . The first property I would say a little on the high side still. You must visit the property before you commit some ppl that are abroad are just buying from the internet and then realize it was a mistake. How much are you selling your property in the UK, Are you visa ready, are you organising this, Merci
Merci JM...I'm not sure whether l intended my post should be viewed as a promotion for the first property...or as a criticism of the second...but agree I can't see the hidden value in property 2. Bonne journee.
@@badseedbrighton46 Yes but when are you planning to live in France have you explored visa options yet,
@Jean-MarcBordeaux I am listing my UK house for sale in January...once I exchange contracts I will hand in my notice at work and make visits to France...once I complete purchase in France I will apply for my inactif visa 🤞
I love this, it's just the right size for me, I'm single and retired. But I'm interested in the south of France.
Hi Edward...a few people have requested other areas than those I prefer...I'll see what I can find. 👍
Love your laid back pace. Isn't that a feature of retiring to France?
Thank you...exactly what you say.
Nice to meet you Brighton! I'm your newest fan!

Needs new kitchen 'first ' and explanation of how it is heated? I see an electric heater in one bedroom making me wonder if it is cold? The fireplace does need inspection before purchased, as it could be dangerous. Maybe wook stove needs to be placed inside of it not sure?. It is a nice home as far as living room, and the area is nice, and flowers outside are perfect. Hydrangeas are easy to manage and these colors are perfect! Could use another railing on stairs , for safety, but a buyer can do this . Think the price would be just right, if all of this is done ,and the well water, is tested or known to have 'enough water ' and 'good water; running into the home>> and heat is intact, and kitchen more modern, It has been brought up alot and am surue they have done much work, but it is true what one person said , "a downstaris bathroom or half of one anyway, could be used too ,or needed really". But perhaps someone who knows how to do carpentry work or has time, will be able to do this, not sure? Perhaps while doing kitchen they could find an area where plumbing can go in and at least find a way ths can be put in? All must have heat, and the fireplace alone may not be enough and hard at night to keep it it going! So need a 'secondary type of heat really.' But there might be something Ii do not know about? Other than this , it really could be a very, very nice home! I woud say right now , price should be lowered a bit, to sell if anyone is to finish it up, and especially the kitchen,( though it should be done ahead, in order for anyone to have it 'move in ready at all. ' ) We all need heat sources and kitchens and baths. (at least one, but having something downstairs making it much easier to manage life) Hard to run up and downstairs, especially with small children, to use bathroom, But do love outside and the whole look ot it and think it coud be a very perfect home. A Forever home, once ready to go. TY for showing this! Ignore anyone who is saying neative or cruel thigns. It is one thing to be honest, and trying to help with the whole process, but another to be mean. Some people are not capable of being kind to anyone, not even to themselves. Best to ignore them, and to 'block' them if possible!
Thank you...Great comments...l think I counted 2 electric heaters...meant to mention in the video.
Hi. Why don't you look in le Creuse. Departement 23. Lovely area. Yes, further down from North France, but so beautiful. I lived there for five years and loved it. Best wishes.
Hi Andrea...I really should do more Limousin property...it was actually the area which piqued my interest in France.
I could buy it and have 300 thousand to live on . Texas prices are sky high!
Did you get a stager? Mine was worth it.
@maryfrump7937 Hello...I didn't...can I ask how much yours charged? I decluttered and cleaned. From what I've gathered French agents apparently prefer the warts and all approach.
Can a person build a new home and use this one as a vacation home?
@maryfrump7937 Hi there...do you mean on the same plot? I think the only way you would answer that is by speaking to the relevant authority. 👍
That fireplace is in dangerous need of a chimney inspection.
Very nice property at a good price. All it needs is a new kitchen.
I wish there was a ½ bath on the ground floor, but I am sure one could be put in. I liked it.
My advice is to avoid no one buys a Breton Long style house in France , That style of gas cooker in France takes a gas bottle on one side, This is a classic case of someone thats brought a style of house that they cannot resell. Are you cash ready to buy anything, You will have to be on the ground and look with local French estate agents thats where the bargains will be, As a French Family we would be spending close to 80,000 Euros on home in the area, merci
Thanks...really interesting comments...am relisting my property for sale in Jan to enable cash purchase. You're not the Jean from JB Houses by any chance?
@@badseedbrighton46 No I am not that person but I own property in France and know the market and the UK market and a registered landlord. So been through the whole buying process in France and how to apply for the long-stay visa etc
Bad kitchen
Don’t talk when you are eating , not a good look
Hi Badseed, This property is cute but too small, even for a couple. Ceilings too low (luminosity during rainy days ?), kitchen non fonctionnal, no bath in the bathroom (OMG !) and be careful with your head in the bedrooms. The only positive point is the size of the garden. You've shown us better than this one 😉 Wish you a nice week !
@AmieAnge great comments... I think l agree with you ...and l will redouble my efforts.
@@badseedbrighton46 Take your time, winter's coming. You'll have better opportunities next spring ! In french we say "everything comes to the moment of waiting" (tout vient à point à qui sait attendre) 😉
@AmieAnge you're absolutely right...not a lot of quality out there at present...which is maybe how this one slipped through quality control.
Love it.

I watch many TH-camrs who experience people with nasty thoughts and comments, they all agree to just ignore. I love the bedroom sizes. :)

Lovely. I like the first holiday home.
First house delightfully traditional. Loaded with potential. It's nice that it has a lounge and space for proper washer and dryer. Just needs new paint everywhere. Second house equally nice. Better on the outside but tight inside. The prices are in the ballpark.
Loved your video. I am looking forward to seeing more of them. Thanks

@@Jean-MarcBordeaux very valid point Jean. I guess it's from a security point of view or insecure point of view I guess.
